  1. NICE shoes !! Very brave, running has never come "naturally" to me so think i'll stick to my asics
  2. Anyone done Doreen road going up from Hendrik Potgieter towards Ontdekkers ? That is a pretty steep kicker. Definitely granny gear material.
  3. I paid my money for JHB triathlon already ( silly me ) .... if they turn it into a duathlon again this year they can forget me ever entering again
  4. Just sent in my entries for BSG. Last years Germiston race has been moved to "The Islands Estate, Hartebeespoort" 2 October 2011 - Roodeplaat Dam, Pretoria (Race 1: R150.00) 9 October 2011 - The Islands Estate, Hartebeespoort (Race 2: R135.00) 16 October 2011 - Potchefstroom Dam, Potchefstroom (Race 3: R135.00) 4 December 2011 - Emerald Casino, Vanderbijlpark (Race 4: R125.00) The only other issue I have is Roodeplaat. The toilet facilities last year were SIF
  5. YIKES !!! dude its people like you that turn a dull day in the office into something very funny
  6. Safety in numbers. I'd go with a club like Cycle Lab just for the sake of being able to ride as a large group. No ones gonna try hijack you. If you have any mechanical issues, punctures etc there's always the backup van. Yes this costs you R400 a year but its kinda like an insurance policy of sorts and yes its sociable.
  7. Will 9 Speed Trutativ Elita Crank work with 10 speed chain ? I have 9 speed dura ace crank running on 10 speed setup on my roadie and this works OK. Just not sure if you can do same with trutativ crank. If I even mention fitting any 9 speed crank on 10 speed setup my LBS thinks I'm crazy. This is for a TT bike I am building.
  8. I would'nt send anything by plane that is high value unless you are prepared to be parted with it and have good insurance. I lost a Bianchi flying CPT to JHB SAA
  9. What about the JHB City triathlon on Sep25 from what I see it going to be held at germiston lake ??????
  10. Nah not expensive. Gonna cost less than R500 with exchange rate. Just hope it is as well organized as Bela Bela 5150
  11. Must admit it was a very well organized event. No hordes in the swim trying to drown you, maybe an elbow or two but nothing like other events ex. BSG which is like a sardine tin. I'm happy to chuck in a couple extra hundred bucks to make sure it is a pleasant event. Wife and teenagers were there too supporting me and really enjoyed the weekend not too mention the beer tent as I ran past on the run section. Next year is a definite
  12. Sure NO SUBS allowed but no one asks for your ID so as long as you dont mind competing as someone else and you not going to make a big deal of it ...
  13. on CRC it says "NOT AVAILABLE OUTSIDE THE EU" ?????????
  14. Nothing fancy. I'm not looking for podium places or to impress anyone with flash wheelset BUT want to use what I have as far as is possible
  15. I have a set of unused dura ace 7700 hubs which I want to lace to 36 hole rims. Can anyone recommend rims and possibly where could buy such ancient beasts ?
  16. ++1 Got to make sure the wife sees the large container so we can justify the COST otherwise next time round we be buying cookies instead
  17. Agree entry fee very expensive. Hopefully that will keep the lineup small and I wont get drowned. The race is late in the day so I'm heading out to warm baths early morning with my kid and ouma and then driving back afterwards. Wife has to work so no major expenses What about the entry fee for the Capetown challenge that including flights accomodation etc is really gonna set you back a lot more than R3000 I will see how this weeks training works out and join you guys on Saturday morning. Going to do 8k time trial tonight at RAC should be fun.
  18. its so hideous bike jackers may not even think its a bicycle ! I want one
  19. See this 5150 url, surprised you have not heard of it. But then again if you do races like Capetown Challenge maybe this is like a training ride for you
  20. 50k's ya nee that's quite something. Capetown Challenge I must admit I would have loved to be able to participate but I'm not ready for that kind of distance this year. Been simply trying to do Olympic and 70.3 distances. At my age you got to pace yourself and start training well in advance. Training has not been where it needs to be this year. If all goes well next year this time I'm in
  21. Sounds like you might be training for Iron man 5150 in August ?
  22. Mine hang from the roof in the garage but no locks. Best I get myself one of these monster bolts and chain soon ....
  23. i just wish I could find a place in Joburg to do spinning classes without having to join a gym and pay exorbitant fees
  24. I thought this was old technology. I remember being nailed on the M2 west going into Joburg on Xmas day about 20 yrs ago for doing 120 in a 80 zone. The buggers were driving a Skyline and had all the kit. I was treated to a 30 minute lecture and demo in the back of the Skyline while they wrote out the fine.
