The vast majority of participants aren't racers, so these kinds of behaviours are to be expected. I was impressed with the low amount of crashes in $, the field was huge and very packed (as you can see on helicopter shots), lots of last minute changes of direction due to road furniture and stuff, and in the end I only witnessed a crash on the M3 (as usual, we have 3 full lanes on a motorway, okes start relaxing, and a crash happens). The whole way through muizenberg / kalk bay / Simon's town was very nervous/stressfull but in the end no crashes. I heard a noise outside simonstown but didn't see a crash, not sure what it was.

My racetec time is 1sec short compared to garmin 😜 I must have taken my time to pause it after crossing the line !

I usually see many groups on my way down to the start, this morning felt lonely in the dark (most of the lights being off due to cable theft), saw lots of cars with bikes on the roof or on racks. At least I did not get stoned….or hit potholes or glass Bit stressful when I got there and loading from the front was VIP only so I had to rush though all the (very packed) chutes.

Every year they screw it up… all they show is the women riding in the bunch through noerdhoek when nothing ever happens that side, while @Sid the Sloth is destrying everyone and making the winning move up smits… how can you screw up a coverage so badly… at least we then got to see Dan take 10mins pulls on the way to scarborough 😳

If you want high end for 50-60k don’t look at buying new mate Last year I scored a Reacto 7000-E for 50k on the hub, honestly I couldn’t have said if it had been ridden or not when it was delivered. Had Ultegra Di2 an decent training wheels. Then I upgraded it over time with power meter, wheels, fancy bars to make it a mean machine that would have cost me more than double to buy new, not to mention the new models still haven’t hit the market yet 🤣. Check Bikeaddict or cwc if you are in the area, look for anything Di2 (you might find some sweet deals with 11spd Di2). Will be tough in that price range to find Di2 + Carbon wheels though, except for Titan. We see a few Titans in elite races, probably sponsored riders but they don’t look *** and they go well, I wouldn’t rule them out if you want to buy new and have all the bits and pieces.

Thanks for this, is Beast the last bit at the end of Donkey trail ? Looks very similar. Sho DH1 & 2 smell like OTB to me on my XC bike with my current MTB skills and confidence. Maybe I should organise a few trips to tokai to smash the snakes trails a few times to get confidence again ! Since we're on the homemade videos, here's one from earlier this season (the only time I took the gopro to a race, had to make it worth it 😅) Otherwise two more I saw today, one very impressive, one really funny including a rider I really really like, usually for other reasons
