  1. When we were there last weekend it was SUPER dry, wouldn't surprise me at all, but having said that, there were already signs all over of there having been controlled burns, still, it is entirely possible that an uncontrolled fire started with how dry it is there at the moment
  2. So this is my Tig, built as a kind of mini Enduro bike, piggy back shock, could maybe have gone for a 150mm Lyrik to make it even more burly, but the 140mm Pike is great for my needs, full SLX drivetrain, 4piston caliper in front, 2 piston on the back, carbon wheel with heavyish tyres and an insert in the rear, comes in at 15.05kg, and there is a fair bit of weight to be saved just on the tyres, it is MUCH faster on the climbs and flats than my Hyrax/Slakline was, and has even gottem me a number of PB's on the downs at my local trails, absolutely love this bike. SID Fork, SID Shock and XC tyres, I am pretty sure could save me close to 2kg, maybe even more, for the XC guise
  3. Happens to every single time I ride
  4. Got this set of 26" wheels, take a screw on type freewheel/cassette thingy, came off of a Titan Hades, free to whoever wants to collect them
  5. He will probably be having a very slow lonely ride no matter what bike he is on
  6. Been looking in the R15k-R20k range, but would like to spend less if I can, I am indeed in JHB, which is why I want fatter tyres, as of yesterday though I have decided to look in the sub R10k range, stick with a rim brake bike as it will mostly live on the trainer, and then when I eventually can, will maybe get a nice carbon disc machine👌
  7. So this is kind of why I asked this question, didnt know why I expected it not to turn into a bit of a rumble. I have been looking at bikes over the last week or so, and have seen some really nice slightly older bikes, circa 2014-2018 rim brake bikes, with full Ultegra groupsets, and even some Dura-Ace, with what seem like nice Carbon wheels etc ranging between R15k-R20k, but anything disc bike related even close to that price is Tiagra or 105 and alloy, bar 1 Orbea Orca, but that is too small for me. Dont get me wrong, I think the newer Tiagra and 105 groupset is great, and probably exactly what I need, but the bikes, at least new ones, are R30k and up, have not seen many/any used bikes with those groupsets for reasonable prices yet
  8. Ya I was looking more towards the newer model with the full 105 hydryalic groupset, although at the right price I would go for the same as you have got, I am not really that fussy, the bike will spend 90% of it's life n the IDT and then the odd Suikerbos loop and 947 etc
  9. Hey peeps, so I need some advice, I am looking at getting a roadbike, but I am a little conflicted on what bike to look for, I know I want a more endurance type bike, I am no racer, so have been looking at some Trek Domane, Giant Defy etc type bikes, but currently in my price range, I can only find bikes with rim brakes, I know disc brake bikes can take fatter tyres, which is appealing to me for the extra comfort they provide. So basically my question is, do I keep looking at rim brake bikes, or do I wait till I can find/afford an Alloy disc brake bike? Something like the Giant Contend disc or Trek Domane AR (not that they are available in SA) or Specialized Allez disc? And what other bikes should I be looking at?
  10. Ordered some tools off Temu because my wife got some nice vouchers to save even more moolah, quite happy with the quality, I stuck with Toopre and another brand I recognized on their site, cant remember off hand now what it is, but everything works as it should, used the derailleur hanger thing on a hanger I knew is straight, just to check it wasnt going to give bad "readings" and then used it on a hanger I knew was bent, amazing how quiet the drivetrain is now, and how much better the bike shifts 👍👍 also used my saw blade guide to cut down some handlebars, worked as expected.... Everything came in around 7 days, and was even delivered on a Saturday, even with the free shipping deal we got, actually caused a bit of a problem because we were not home, but alas, we made a plan. One problem we had, I ordered a cable cutter, but was sent a BB tool, we lodged a dispute and should have an outcome today on if we will recieve a credit for the cutter

  12. My newly built Tig, loving this bike, glad I made the switch from the Slakline
  13. We are all on your side, rooting for you! I really just want to see what contraption you have been riding 🤣
  14. Any more info on the progression of this? Or some bike pics?
  15. Hey guys, does anybody have or know where I can find a Shimano Ispec EV shifter mount?
  16. Does anybody have or maybe know where I can get Shimano Ispec EV shifter mount?
  17. Formula Cura and Cura 4 brakes are mineral oil, not DOT fluid
  18. Willie van Eck won the MP XC series on a Pyga Slakline, 160/170 Enduro bike, and then also wins the MP Enduro series riding the Slakline with a 36T chainring 🫠
  19. Fair enough, there is a really shocking lack of basic skills out there
  20. I entered the 55km 947 MTB race with zero seeding or any longer "recorded" rides, you just get a crappy starting time In my personal opinion, the 55km is not technical at all, but, the distance is a real challenge to finish, especially as a new rider
  21. @Titan Racing Bikesplease can you confirm something for me, I am considering getting a Stryker, but on your website there are 2 size guides under the stryker, one says the Large will be to small, the other is spot on for me, how do I know which guide is correct? Screen shot off your site is attached
  22. If you are selling something, and I want to buy over BikeHub pay, we are in different provinces, we agree on amount yada yada, you send me the parts, but I "don't recieve" them, I tell BikeHub I never recieved th bits, you have no actual proof if I recieved them or not, the signed courier waybill means someone got it, not necessarily me. Yes some couriers you need a pin to recieve the goods, or PostNet you need your ID, but I regularly get stuff from couriers without needing any proof of ID, Scammers can take advantage of those situations
