  1. Hey everyone, my nephew has an old Scott Scale carbon frame, it is quite a nice frame, but he somehow managed to strip the threads in the derailleur hanger, and it seems that it is not replaceable, as it looks to be bonded to the frame, does anyone have any ideas for a repair job?

Even bicycle wheels, I can never really understand how a "highend" bicycle wheel can cost more than a motorbike wheel, here we have a bespoke Carbon wheelset for a motorbike, made in small quantities, has to meet much higher safety standards, and is ised in some of the most expensive motocycles in the world, yet is still cheaper than many bicycle wheels???? The mind boggles
  6. I really liked the Maxxis Dissector at the back, but that may be to wide being a 2.4, maybe an Aggressor? Those come in 2.3, never ridden one but apparently they are good as a rear tyre. Other end is a 2.3 DHR II, but I am not sure if that really meets your "fast rolling" requirements Also, any of those 2.3ish tyres are going to be really square running on 35mm inner width rims, but Jeff Kendal Weed says that makes for awesome manuals.... 🤷
  7. Is the bird still at the creek? I have been avoiding that section, but it is one of the most fun parts of the trail, just want to wait till the bird is gone before riding it again
  8. I dont know multipark buddy, but I have multipark 6, has worked very well for me so far, R199 a month and I can ride 6 rides a month at any trailpark in Gauteng

Yebo, slap a 205 x 65 shock and you will have 160mm of travel, there is probably even just a spacer in your current shock that limits it to 57.5mm of stroke, you would need to send it in to have it removed, unless you are skilled and confident enough to do a damper rebuild on your shock. But seeing as you have a Hyrax, it is probably a Rockshox Deluxe, I would maybe fit a shock with a reservoir, eg Super Deluxe/Fox Float X or DPX2 etc

Good morning everyone, so I am looking to attempt learnig this coffee thing, I have found a Breville Barista Express, from what I have learned so far, they are a good machine to start learning on, it is a used machine, so would just like to see if anyone can give me a heads up on things to look out for? Also, the portafilter is missing, are they easily attainable at a reasonable price? Thanks in advance for any tips and advice.

Hey, I have this part you need, in the wrong size, but you can make it work with another part, but I dont have that part to make it work, but if you can find the part somewhere else you can get it to work, I also have this other part, it wont work at all, but just thought I should let you know anyway, just incase......

  17. I am 105kg and ride fairly hard, and make questionable line choices at the best of times, I am running 1.5 in front and 1.7 at the back, Pirelli Scorpion enduro casing tyres no inserts, and it works really well, for me at least....

  20. I really like my Camelbak Repack (hip pack) has a 1.5litre bladder, and nice pockets to hold some far/fast bars and I keep some mushroom plugs and tyre levers in it, in my opinion, it is very comfortable, and I know that I will always have enough water with me

My DT wheels also do this, my old Lyne wheels didnt, I eventually just added sealant and it still leaked, pumped it up again and made sure to shake the sealant around very well, and then it held up much better, but still slowly leaked, after the 3rd or 4th air up it now holds air very well, even switching tyres, it holds perfectly, just need to be very careful not to damage the rim tape when swapping tyres

  23. My weekend was a bit of a mixed bag of emotions. Day 1 I had a fall at about the 13km which bent my shifter lever, so I couldnt change to easier gears, my pedal also attacked my shin so I have a nice little hole in my leg, tried to fix the shifter trailside, but couldn't, put all the parts in my pocket and started walking, thinking my weekend was done, after a bit of walking I brainstormed, and decided to be a bush mechanic, McGyvered the bike so I could run on the 2 big cogs on the back by shifting with the barrel adjuster, lets just say things got SKETCHY trying to change gears while riding with half a hand on the bar and the other 1 and half hands turning the barrel adjuster to shift 🤣🤣 anyways, rode the next 33ish km like that, with a whopping top speed of 9km/h on the bits that were flatter. But I finished, and then to add insult to injury, when I got back to the village, I went to the bike shop guys to see if they maybe had a shifter, when I got there I couldnt unclip properly and bliksemed off the bike infront of everyone 🫣 and the pedal klapped my shin again, making the cut even bigger. Anyway, after finding out the only shifter they had there was a XO1 for R2700, I limped home once again thinking my weekend was done, but my buddies, prompted by and including mr @thebob, offered to chip in to help me buy the shifter, thank you very much for the offer oom, jy is n yster, luckily I am stubborn old mule, and decided to youtube how to rebuild the shifter, and thankfully I didnt lose any parts, so after much frustration, I got my shifter sorted 🥳 Sunday morning I headed back to the bike shop because in the fall the matchmaker nut broke, they had one for me, so we fitted the shifter and a new inner cable and a sloppy indexing job because I was in a major rush to get to the start, and managed to get into my group with just 1 minute to spare. The first 40km on day 2 are extremely boring IMO, just bumpy district roads, and with all the mist there was not even any nice scenery to look at, but, after the 40km mark, that bastard climb no02 began, not going to lie, I walked probably 50% of it, it is a proper beast, then the fun single track started, that made it all worth it, even though I was spent, it was still a massive jol, then when that ended, they turned us right to go around the locations, at anout that moment I lost my sense of humor, it just felt like they added it in just to get more distance, and then even worse, people I passed on the singletrack finished before me, because I "missed" the time cut off, so they got diverted to a short cut through Clarens square, but any, at least I finished the entire route, very pleased with myself. Overall, it was a very lekker weekend of riding bikes, the "bad" parts just add to the adventure.
