  1. PM me your email address and I will send you a few of Babbas taken over the past year.
  2. This article appeared on Eyewitness News. http://www.ewn.co.za/articleprog.aspx?id=58784
  3. Our condolences to the family.
  4. You could try Garmin Distribution Africa. Garmin Distribution Africa (Cape Town Branch) +27 21 788 9015 / +27 861 427 646 Capricorn Business Park, Capricorn Drive, Muizenberg, WESTERN CAPE (WGS84) hddd.ddddd° S34.08778 E18.48837. They should be able to put you on the right track for an agent close to you. Alternatively any decent cycling shop that stocks Garmin products should be able to order the correct speed/cadence sensor. The part number is 010-10644-00 Price should be in the region of about R500-00. (I bought an extra one about a month ago.)
  5. Looking closer at the patterns caused me to spill coffee on my keyboard. Not really, but there is a certain perkiness to the first rotor.

    rocket ron

Perhaps someone can enlighten me, as I have no idea what a tubeless ready tyre is. The only tyres I know of are either UST Tubeless, Foldable Non-UST and Beaded tyres. UST are normally heavier as they are meant to be tubeless, and have thicker sidewalls that the Foldable Non UST, while beaded are heavy tyres with a distinct bead on the edge, and are not foldable.

    rocket ron

We have been using foldable non-UST Rocket Rons for more than a year as tubeless, and have never experienced any problems with them. They are on Mavic 317 and ZTR Alpine rims.
  8. Couldn't agree more. Andre, OB and the rest are tops. We have tried most of the other shops, and keep going back to them. They are always friendly and go out of their way to help.
  9. His website is prominently displayed on the bonnet of the car, his registration number is clearly visible in the pic, and he appears to be using a laser speed device. If it can be seen in the video that it is active, he can be arrested for defeating the ends of justice. A moron like this should be taken off the streets, and given to Bubba and his band of merry men for 6 months.
  10. My son heard from a friend, who heard from a friend who..... We went through to the store through at about 11:00, and the store was packed to the rafters with people going gaga for specials. We ended up purchasing an extra bib for him to train with, and 2 khaki shirts for me. Bib was R150-00 and the shirts were R100-00 each. It appears it is not a permanent store, as we asked them whether this was a grand opening, and the cashier replied that they were only there for the day. The sale was held at the Cajees / Pick & Pay centre behind Makro in Centurion.
  11. So what did you find?
  12. The race was nice and fast. We got a 01:23 on the 30km. It was also a pleasure to meet Faceplant, IceAngel and GTrider at the gazebo. This should me made an institution, always great to meet fellow hubbers at races.
  13. We used to use SweatSafe. I called the ER24 call centre to confirm the tag number, and the operator did not know what a SweatSafe ID was. This happened twice in the space of a month. After that it was goodbye SweatSafe, and hello to ICE-ID. All the details you need are on the tag. According to their website, the standard looks like this: Name City Home telephone ICE contact Medical Aid Quote or Slogan Ours is: Name ID Number ICE 1 ICE 2 Medical Aid Med Aid Number It can't hurt to be different.
  14. It is true though that only the top riders get any kind of cheer at most races. Even finishing in the top 10 does not ensure that you get an applause of any kind. That being said I am not going to stand at the finish line and clap my hands raw for every single rider coming in. If the rider deserves it, sure, but then again...
  15. I find that Q8 works well, and it gives a nice freshly serviced shine to the bike as well. Don't use Q10, as that is silicone free.
  16. Thanks for that Clinton. Think we will join next week then, and see how it goes.
  17. There is an option of "MY club is not listed." You can use that, although for confirmation of your membership you will need a club, as it is part of the verification system.
  18. We have been watching this thread with interest. Is anyone welcome to ride, and if so, what is needed? A night ride sounds interesting.
  19. I think we should do it as well. Only problem is that we have a whole bunch of youngsters that are only starting off with cycling, and Redstone seems to have already scared some of them off.
  20. Epic Sports in Centurion. Andre and his team know how to look after their clients. Nobody is too important or to inconsequential to them, from the MTN MTB team, to the old beggar that needs a new secondhand tube.
  21. We paid R75-00 for the yearly membership, plus an additional R350-00 for the racing licence. Gauteng does not charge additional affiliation fees. There is space for a photo during the registration process on cyclingsa dot com. What I like about the fact that you can download a licence is that I can print extra licences, so that everyone has one, in case the original is left at home, lost, etc.
  22. As a resulot of them splitting the dates we have decided to skip the MTN series this year. Should the format revert back to the previous type, we will start participating again. Tim Fair wrote on another thread: "•Support cycling retailers by giving them a opportunity to display their wares at the events. •Sponsors get more exposure for longer (no sponsor = no race) •Local towns benefit more from the races" There is definitely money involved, but the question that begs to be asked is "Who benefits the most?" Not the riders, as they have extra expenses incurred. Many families have some people riding both the marathon and half marathon. Extra day means more expenses for longer accomodation, food, etc. Just my 1,000,000 Zim dollar worth.
  23. Our condolences go out to her family and friends.
  24. Milo straight after a race is the way to go. We have been using it for quite some time, and it works as well if not better than those hideously expensive recovery drinks, and tastes better too.
  25. We were able to download the licence from the CSA website. They have emailed a copy to us. We received another email today asking to confirm our postal address, as they are posting the licence card to us as well. All in all I think it is a better method than in the past, where everything was sent to your club, and you had to ask them for your licence.
