  2. 1 Tokai 2 Lebanon/Thandi 3 Welvanpas 4 Oakvalley 5 Jonkers 6 Botterlary 7 Eden 8 Tygerberg 9 Schaapenberg 10 Delvera My bad i have then 8th on my enjoyment list.
  3. Yes I am hard to please, The botterlary guys are doing a much better job and have 1/100th of the budget our beloved club has. They can come here for some lessons on trail building and maintenance.
  4. There is something like acceptable level of politics, not chaotic circus induced disillusionment but hey this is not about the club. BTW i ride the tygerberg trails every evening as part of training, And as far as trails go They rank about 7th in my list of descent trails in a 50km surrounding area, its just that its convenient but besides that I would never say join the club we have awesome trails.

  6. Yup buy carbon pedals cause they are 20 grams lighter then add 30 grams to protect them from bashing lol.
  7. Thats not going to work as you dont necessarily do a full loop, I sometimes start at hazendal then exit stellebosch side, and then do jonkers and take polka draai home, Which means they will never get their board back. The only way guest boards are going to work is if there are only 1 or two entrances to the trails and they are permanently manned.
  8. If you have insurance just replace it, any structural weakness in carbon is a bad idea if you ask me.
  9. Problem is there are about 5 entrances of which none of them are really manned. Maybe assign certain people "marshall" boards that ride there a lot, which shows you have the authority to stop riders on the trail give the marshals a receipt book and armbands and a contact no to phone if certain riders do not want to pay. I for one will be happy to marshall as i ride there quite often.

    Disc rotors

These only work if the wheels are centerlock and your rotor is six bolt. And I would leave the 180mm especially if its a 29'er the greater rotational forces needs that bit of extra stopping power.

    Disc rotors

You can get 6 bolt to center lock adapters they about R80 a peace.
  12. I hit pedals a lot less on my rocky element than i ever did on my anthem, myabe its just because i wizened up, but take Johans advise, and if you feel you need something with an adjustable bb, then Rocky mountain, and Morewood have bikes that you can adjust the BB height by the use of a alan key.
  13. Bugger the bit about blue lights, DA outlawed blue light brigades long time ago, it will now be passed into law that you need to be more than 1.5m away from cyclists. I just hope the DA follows this up with one hell of a campaign to let all motorists know its the law with examples of repercussions for not following the 1.5m law.
  14. There goes the neighborhood .... jeeeeeeeez
  15. http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/Western-Cape-passes-new-traffic-law-20121201 He said by January 2013, the department will have published conditions for the use of blue lights in the province. Carlisle said blue lights would only be used in emergency situations. "I will also issue a regulation requiring all vehicles overtaking cyclists to ensure that there is a safe distance of at least 1.5 metres between them before passing." The act was passed on Thursday.

Lol not sure how effective that will be since his sense of direction sux and apple maps sucks worse lol.
  17. Its an endless debate i still beleive, XC use your 29'er though many trail capable 29'ers are on the market and the newer versions very maneuverable and versatile. AM 650 B nice balance between clearing and maneuverability, though will need a couple more years to get the geometry right. 26" small peeps and DH lively playful and well established. All that said i sold my 26" found it doesn't outperform my 29"er on any trail the western cape has to offer, but that's mostly because i feel the bike fits me like a glove.
  18. Go read a couple of books on power training, what makes power effective is its extreme accuracy and the fact that you can change your training thanks to the accurate data given by a power meter. Hence why i said this would give you "interesting data" but as far as a proper training mechanism its not on par. I would'nt mind semi acurate data for interest sake but i would prefer acurate data for training.
  19. I think its bull if you know how your heart works then it has nothing to do with power. Just go read joe friel's heart rate training bible, Your heart is unique individual and works differently every day. And depending on a million of factors like illness, fatigue, food, etc the rates changes, I am no doctor but from the bit i know and have read Im damn sure theres no way to get an acurate power reading from your heartrate. Other factors are the delay in HRM's as they dont poll often enough, the time it takes for your heart rate to get up to tempo after prolonged excessive length the curve goes down. Which means your heart rate starts dipping even though maintaining the same speeds/effort. And the only reason you have power meters is because they are more accurate than heart rate monitors for training. Even if the formula comes close its still not acurate and wont help you in the slightest besides having "interesting" data. Sort of like the way strava works out your "power" output based on heart rate.
  20. Sniffie if i changed your cranks to standard length cranks without your knowledge you would never notice the difference in a million years as far as pedal hits go. If you can judge a obstacle that will strike your pedals to a 5mm variance you have superhuman powers the rest of us are sadly lacking. If it made any kind of difference it would already have been marketed as such so people discard their stock cranks to go make some more retailers rich. There is simply no way it makes any sort of difference, it will however make a difference depending if your physique dictates having shorter or longer cranks.

Well if you can chop and change faster than a Indian rug merchant the man has at least some sort of skill It is a good thing however that Ferrari no longer has pull in the FIA like they use to have, so if its not clearly defined, Im sure they will leave Vettel alone, however if the rule says you have to pass the greenflag before overtaking then he is buggered.

    Formula 1...

Yeah but he took it before he passed the green, he over took 15 seconds into the clip the green only came up at 20sec not sure how the rules work on that one. But he definitely passed before he got next to the green.

    Formula 1...

Cough sorry Mayhem look at the schumi glory days Nothing is below Ferrari especially when it comes to underhanded tactics cheating, bending the rules to suit them. This does not surprise me one iota, and I guarantee you if they pull it off they will celebrate like there's no tomorrow. Mclaren got caught up in a scandal once (which wasn't really a scandal that behavior was ongoing since the beginning of time by all teams) but when Ferrari saw they were getting their asses kicked they complained about it. While other teams (think it was Renault) had evidence that Ferrari did exactly the same that year. Im still amazed that Ferrari didn't give Massa the order to take Vettel out, or maybe Massa just never had the chance.
