  1. Yes you will get a multitude of different opinions, my personal opinion and this is personal before you get your flame throwers out is simply this. I haven't found an XC track in SA yet where my 29'er Rocky had any disadvantage over a 26" in fact quite the opposite, however if your looking doing more All Mountain riding i would stick to 26 or 27.5. However the reverse is also true and i would have been just as happy on a 26" bike, Being of the taller variety i do feel more comfortable and more balanced on the 9'er than the 26.
  2. looks like my gardners bike im sure he bought his for R439 at makro
  3. Not often that happens and its good to hear stories like these, lets hope it becomes the rule rather than the exception and then im sure this thread will grow past 2 pages
  4. Rocky already has a 650 http://www.bikerumor.com/2012/08/24/first-look-2013-rocky-mountain-650b-altitude-trail-bike/
  5. Not a 650 fan, and not contemplating one, but more likely just marketing bull, they probably didn't manage to get a proper design out in time.
  6. The ghost rt5700 xfusion shock is 100mm as far as i know.

  10. There are a couple of witness accounts here, that totally contradicts lefty's version. I dont mind him defending his local shop (regardless of what his connection might be) but he makes a whole lot of assumptions and calls it facts in contradiction to the witness accounts of the people that were actually there) So if he wants to defend cajees err i mean BRIDGE, then he needs to do it based on actual facts and truths. Not conjecture made up to discredit the eyewitness accounts, thats just kind of bad taste.
  11. isnt it easier to over inflate, do a section, let a litle air out, do it again, rinse and repeat till you feel you have the optimal pressure, then go home, use the floor pump with a single depression, then the current pressure - a little bit would be your ideal. Beats the hell of riding with a floor pump lol
  12. Going to play devils advocate here and say bull, if i see my bike with my custom bling bits missing i would throw a hissy fit too, secondly, how badly is their workshop managed that custom parts gets replaced with standard stuff, and nobody knows about it. Its the shop/workshop's responsibilty to make sure you get your bike back with all the little tidbits it had on. As far as the communication iin refrence goes, as soon as the mech had a problem "finding" the bits he should have contacted the owner of said steed and informed him. Where he should have then been given the choice to come in and choose brand new blingy bits of his liking to replace the old bits which were "missing" only to be found a couple minutes later as soon as someone started looking for it. Its bad management, bad servicing, bad customer service, poor communication all on the part of bridge.
  13. Depends on your reach I am 1.81 went by the book bought a anthem L, never felt comfortable on the bike, then eventually had a ergofit done, determined my gorrila arms dictate that i should actually have gotten an XL anthem, long story short, got a rocky frame with the perfect effective top tube length for my reach and what a pleasure.
  14. youll find most of the bikes in the same price range are very similarly spec'd you wont find much of a difference, a 5k bike is a learning bike you buy it ride on it for 6 months realize you absolutly love the sport, and then convince yourself you will do so much better on a 20k bike. Its just natural evolotion. Remember to get the right size bike, best way to do this is to go have a ergofit or bgfit done, that way you start off with the correct bike and the correct setup, costs a bit dosh but worth it. and remember to keep cash aside for 1 pip protector 2 cycling pants (yes more expensive is better in this realm) 3 water bottle and or camelback 4 saddlebag or toptube bag 5 Cycling shirt 6 sunglasses (yes rocks in the eye hurts, and miggies burn like a bast@rd) 7 Patches, small pump, multitool, spare tube (i asssume youll only go tubeless later on) 8 Gloves (more expensive is better here too, hand comfort is important) Giro/Fox/Spescialized you cant go wrong. And welcome to monthly bankruptcy your going to love it.
  15. Just hone those skills properly i can already see someone not being able to hop their steeds: not only up but horizontally to land both wheels on the pavement, And fall over in front of car. Its a good theory but practice practice practice till its second nature, before attempting this in traffic.
  16. And if you didnt doo it you would still be in pain for the rest of your life,
  17. problem is you have 3 weeks to reattach ligaments, otherwise you in groot k@k. If you go to physio's and the sort they will obviously try something none invasive and if it doesnt work your the one stuck with it, they couldnt give a crap since you already paid them. If your not sure then sign up for exploritory surgery to determine if the ligaments and tendons are still attached. If they are they can heal if you rest your shoulder enough, if they not you will have to fix them, do it now its a small and relativly simple op, leave it for 10 years and you will have multiple ops with less chance of success.
  18. i use ergon grips can never say that my hand has ever slipped, but then again i seldom use them, excpet when grinding up a climb.
  19. lol similar boat, but i tore my thumb ligaments, thing with any ligament is that it will later in life bug the hell out of you if its not fixed, you only have 3 weeks to decide. if its partially torn and you keep your shoulder still for 3-4 weeks then the ligaments should heal fairly well. However if they are completly torn they will never reatach properly and you will have issues later in life. I did this with my shoulder in Judo, even now 14 years later, my shoulder randomly pops out of the joint, hurts like hell for a couple of days and then pops back in again. Proplem with surgery I cant mtb for 6 months if i want it to heal properly.
  20. Thanks for the offer Dirtbreath but i shouldnt have any issues with the gripshifts, once they take the wires and the anchors and screws and crap out next month, mine was a total tear, i.e. when i got back on the bike after the wipe ripping up the track i tried to shift, and my shifters just felt like spongy almost as if the cable snapped, so i stopped looked at the shifters tried to shift and then i saw its not that the shifters didnt want to go forward its that my thumb kept bending backwards everytime i tried to shift lol Then gripshifts are for two reasons, keeps my thumb from taking reverse strain while gearing and if ii wipe again my thumb wont be on a shift paddle so no backwards force applied via that avenue. Its the fact that i wont be able to chance anything technical for 3-4 months after the second op thats killing me. Its only been three weeks now and im already displaying advanced symptoms of cabin fever. I even recommended for saftey my girl should move out for the next 5 months or so. I cant be held liable for my actions. Ill be able to do tar but thats like a stripper, she gets you hot under the collar but she never gives you satisfaction.

  22. Ok so took a little wipeout tore the ligaments in my thumb a condition known as skiers thumb. Where the ligament that provides the stability and pinching "power" of the thumb ripped off completly, So been off the bike for 3 weeks now, and had the initial ligament reconstructive surgery, in 4 weeks they take the wires and the anchors out. From what i gave read is that i have to not stress the thumb for 4 months after the second surgery. Has this happend to anyone else? And how long before you were back on the bike. I can't see myself not mountainbiking for 6 months in total, and already ordered my XX gripshifts so i dont have to gear with the thumb.
  23. read that as: you will loose a crapload of weight loose no power, and theres no evidence carbs make a diet superior. So go ahead, do it loose weight and be a better athlete.
  24. Exactly, to seal this debate they need to provide scientific proof, not go on heresay by tests done out of protocol and if the frenchies got hold of his blood why wont the USADA FDA and FBI not be able too, And the USADA is refering to a matter that has gone through the legalities and Lance was found innocent and no charges were pressed on the dope tests refered to by USADA in their report once again stating that they have 0% scientific evidence to corroborate their witness statements. I could care either way if the man's guilty, i simply want them to conclusivly prove it. And i love the comment by the UCI where they said there will be a black hole in history as they wont be reassigning victories since too many of the other top contenders doped as well. So if your the winner in a pelaton full of dopers and you win them 7 times over, your still the best athelte.
  25. I agree whole heartedly with this author, and to the nay sayers i couldnt give a shait about lance armstrong or road cycling, but right is right and due process is due process regardless of the sport. http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/othersports/lance-armstrong-vs-usada-what-are-we-to-believe/2012/08/24/62940afa-ee0a-11e1-afd6-f55f84bc0c41_story.html
