  1. Could this be an old Colnago MTB? Do they exist? Ok, so I was browsing some classifieds and saw a Colnago being advertised. Check the picture out, is it real? Seems to have cantilever brakes front & rear. Maybe an old cyclocross bike?
  2. JB, thanks. Always nice to read a well thought out detailed solution that we can all learn from.
  3. Bikes were built by Gotty Hanson. Bought a Hanson in 1992 when I started cycling as a 16yr old. My 1st proper road bike. Think I paid about R1200 for it.. new! Did my 1st Argus on it (3:40 something) and then sold it when offered a Cannondale 3.0 frame cheap from a friend.. that was the beginning of the end..
  4. All depends on what type of riding it's going to be used for.
  5. Ok, so I had to go find this place..
  6. Excuse my ignorance, but where is Paulpietersburg? (other than nowhere near CT!)
  7. Cool, I've only used Shimano m520s, so can't really comment.
  8. Ok, this I don't understand. You only bought these pedals 2wks ago! Just how many times have you ridden them since then? If this is your 1st attempt at clipless pedals on a mtb, you really need to give them a bit of a chance. If you're finding the pedals to tight (difficult to unclip), then just loosen them. Not sure where on the Time pedals, but there should be a small adjuster screw on each pedal.
  9. It's not a bad idea, but I think it would most likely be better to stick to once off donation drives as & when they happen. Setting up things like this can be a quick path to disagreement. Rather let people donate to causes that they choose.
  10. Send it up to the Polar agents yourself. Their service is excellent.
  11. soooo, I wonder where that green death was...
  12. Go for the Koolstop pads, they made a huge difference to my V's. Also, make sure your rims are clean & free of oil/grease etc.. (fairly obvious I know, but it's always suprising what gets where..)
  13. Why the rear one? If you're only going to change one, rather convert the front wheel. At least 60% of your braking should be done via the front wheel, not back wheel.
  14. Cool, thanks for the ideas.
  15. Rock, have you found the stuff, if so where? I need to protect a few spots on my new bike from cable rub.
  16. Rapid Sports in CT does a mtb range of shirts which are a more T-shirt like cut. Tel: +27 (0)21 - 426 4044
  17. Lets see.. (digs in smelly Camelbak..) 750ml - 1.5L water (depending on length of ride) 1x Tube 1x glueless patch kit sml bottle lube compact multitool (with chainbreaker) magic link (spare chain link thing) 2x tirelevers Topeak pump Wildcard Medic Alert ID card R50 (just in case I need a snack on the ride home money..)
  18. I'm sure if you put up a Wanted ad for an indoor trainer, someone will have one lying around gathering dust.
  19. Marius, time to start that cross-training. I got home last night, went for a good, solid 45min run. It was dark & I got rained on a bit, but you can still safely do it.
  20. Go have a look and see if the information is available on your pc, you might be able to import it. Open up windows explorer & browse to: \Program Files\Polar\Polar Precision Performance\ there should be a folder for your user i.e "FanieFiets" Browse that folder & see what .hrm files are available. If there are any newer than March 08, then go back into the Polar software & import them. Not really possible that the data can just disappear..
  21. What about the Fox Reflex gloves? Anybody tried them?
  22. Hey Splat, what time did you leave Tokai? I was passed by a big 4x4 (maybe Landcruiser) with a shiny looking Anthem on the back, on my ride home from Tokai. Think it must've been around 12'ish.
