  1. TitusTi, nice rims but you should've got a set of these:
  2. How's this for a saddle bag & seat combo. Commuter bike used by an old guy working at a US (San Jose) company I visited last month.
  3. More pictures taken during last year's race here: http://picasaweb.google.com/nick.calothi/HellBackMTB07#
  4. Cool, good to see the fork worked.
  5. Sorry to hear about the theft. The main 2nd hand bike shop would be Avron's Cycle Traders in Salt River. Give him a call on 021 448 0812. There's a guy (Neil) in Wynberg who also deals with 2nd hand bikes, he's always advertising on Gumtree. Get him on 076 999 5370 Both tend to keep an eye out for stolen bikes, so give them a call.lurker2008-10-30 03:18:46
  6. Same advice as everyone else, at your age stick to training and leave the chemicals alone. If you're serious about wanting to pick up some weight, rather go chat to a dietician and focus on what you're eating.
  7. Doesn't Durban have a race track (motor vehicles)?
  8. Recently spent a few days in California. Some of the local buses have bike racks on the front allowing you to mix your commute bike & bus. Good idea, so would you strap your bike to the back of a taxi..
  9. USN L-Glutamine http://www.usn.co.za/products_muscle_glut.htm Definitely seems to "relax" my legs after a hard session.
  10. My one neighbour thought he'd be funny when he did some building alterations & put up a notice saying he was building a "low cost liquor outlet". After a lot of fuss all the neighbours discovered it was his bad attempt at humour. His house then got put up for sale on Gumtree, rumour has it that he got a fair number of calls (let's just say the house was "priced to go")
  11. No questions, go for the Koolstops.
  12. Yup, agree with Conti. 3 would be a good number, solo might not be very safe. Try stay off the National roads during Dec, will also be more scenic on the back roads. You'll probably need to ride with a small backpack, but given the time of the year you shouldn't need much. If your folks are driving down, try organise that you leave before them, so that you can meet up after a few days & swap clothes etc. Will minimise some of the effort. Good luck!
  13. Keith, a better option would be to ride the bike for a bit longer & save up for a better bike. There are always a few good deals to be found on 2nd hand road bikes if you're patient. Anyway, all the training you do on your current heavy bike will just make you stronger!
  14. Yup, agree 100%. Never try anything new on race day..
  15. Is it not possible to purchase an annual permit? Tokai costs R15 (I think). The yearly permit is around R200 and very well worth it. Jonkershoek is R20.
  16. My new bike came with a SDG Bel Air and I'm very impressed with it. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=8066 No problems at all on rides over 3hrs.
  17. Dakota isn't bad, but the Tora fork on the Nabraska is waaaay better than the Dart 2.
  18. A mate is looking for a bike in the R5500 price range. Saw the spec of the Nabraska & thought it was pretty good.
  19. Hi All Anyone got any idea of what the going price is for a Silverback Nabraska? (new) thanks Lurker
