  1. That's super disappointing. Rode it as a solo last year, figured for my first attempt I had to do it properly. Was looking forward to seeing how much further I could go this year.
  2. Welcome to the Klein Karoo. Stopped for a lunch snack before continuing on to van Wyksdorp.
  3. Opted for a more touring orientated gravel bike, picked up a 2nd hand Specialized Sequoia Elite from Benky on theHub. Proving to be a great buy. Steel frame, carbon fork, full 105 hydraulic groupset. Pic taken somewhere behind Heidelberg (WC) midway through day 1 of a 4 day trip I'm doing.
  4. Awesome looking bike Zandre. Question, surely those deep section carbon wheels are super stiff? Wouldn't a lower profile rim give a softer ride?
  5. Hi Leo Welcome to theHub. When are you going to be in Cape Town? What kind of budget will you have to buy a mtb? Where will you be staying & will you have transport (car)? You could probably chat to a guy called Avron who runs a 2nd hand bike shop, he might agree to sell you a bike & then buy it back when you leave. Basically like renting a bike long term. Someone should have an email address for him. If you're looking to join in on mtb rides, then register on Warthogs ( http://www.warthogs.org.za/). It's a Cape Town mtb mailing list which will allow you to find out about rides to join. ENjoy Cape Town! -Nick
  6. Chat to Arran: http://www.cyclefit.co.za/ I've never been since I'm in CT, but he helped me out via email when I had some questions.
  7. I hear you. But I still feel that you've gotta make people aware that what they've done is wrong, when they do it. So far I'm still in one piece, but maybe people are more chilled in CT
  8. Sounds like a reach issue, which can only really be solved by changing the stem. Inverting the stem & rolling the bars back (assuming you've got riser bars) might make a small difference. But then you're going to have to shift the brake levers & shifters as well (roll fwd) to compensate for rolling the bar.
  9. Ok, so it looks like Zwaanswyk rd? From where to where?
  10. Where in Tokai was this? How long was the hill/course?
  11. Slave, did you point out your disagreement with said individual when it happened?
  12. Have a look at the Camelbak Lobo: http://www.camelbak.com/sports-recreation/hydration-packs/lobo.aspx Smaller than the Mule, but still big enough to take everything you need.
  13. PM Hairy, he commutes into the CDB regularly. He'll be able to give you some slightly off-road options.
  14. Well, doesn't CycleLab have a tv in their shop? I'm sure they won't mind you setting up your skottle, cooler box & camp chair in the showroom.
  15. Cool, thanks. ..that was easy I assume I can now delete the 2nd exercise?
  16. Hi All Anyone know how to amalgamate two exercises in the Polar software? I accidently stopped my watch during my ride over the weekend, so I've now got a 2 part ride (2 exercises) which I want to join into one. Using Polar Precision Performance 4.03 thanks..
  17. Yup, agree with HR. Nothing wrong with the Schwinn Mesa. Good starting off bike at a very good sounding price. I started off with a Schwinn Moab that I picked up at a similar price.
  18. Maybe you could take a picture of how you've done this and post it on the hub. Think it of your "community project" for the month. I just cable tied a square number plate to the bottom section of my bike rack (Holdfast hanging bike type). It sits below the bikes & therefore visible. I've heard of other people hanging the number plate using some bungy cord which they just hook onto the bike.
  19. It appears you were unlucky then. I got pulled over near Mossel bay a few years ago (after passing a traffic cop who was cruising in the yellow line) because my bikes were obscuring the number plate. He gave me a warning & suggested that I make a plan when I got home. One trip to the local number plate shop & R60 later I was sorted. No stress, no fuss & now no excuse for some lazy cop to pull me over.
  20. The word you're looking for is "cloudburst".. Spoke to a friend in SW yesterday evening & he was complaining about having to dig a trench in front of his garage to stop the water flooding into it. Now I see what he was talking about! Where's the 3rd picture taken? (the one inbetween the Fiat's..)
  21. Damn, sorry to hear. Luckily my Meta 4.2 gets to sleep inside the house with its road bike friends. PM me some more details and I'll post it on the Warthogs mailing list.
