  1. after the hooters hijack, fatmod you have opened yourself up. Think if she did this the wobble would stop and some shuddering and shaking may occur.
  2. four things: one. what are you doing on a road bike, when there are MTBikes? two. sometime it is not the frame but the tyres or some other things three. clamp your knees on the top tube to give the frame some lateral stability. four. if that does not work, you are going to crash and die. GEt some reeligion very quickly.
  3. throat or prostate?KonaFan2009-05-12 05:53:57
  4. business is business. If they feel that they are going to lose more business by accomodating cycles, than what they would gain, then this is a fair discision. Only their profits will tell. However, if it can be proven that cyclists that used to frequent that place were neither sweaty nor unhygenic then there is a case for the CONcourt regarding human rights violation and/or defamation of character. After all some Capetownians are only posers and wear cycling kit to pick up men. KonaFan2009-05-12 01:02:25
  5. Some great mtb routes have been trashed by these illegal dumpers. The hills between Voortrekkerhoogte and Ladium is now an unofficial dump site, dispite a dump just opposite Swartkop reserve. Also many of the areas behind Mamalodi has been trashed by BUILDING RUBBLE. Lastly, does the municipality actually do any garbage removal in Mamalodi, especially Mandela village? The trash is pilling up against the railway lines as there is no place/ bins to put it any where in Mamolodi. When I cycle past there I feel so sorry for all the residents.
  6. A bit of the point, but MTB tubbies. Interesting idea. Maybe a option instead of tubeless. Just a thought. MAybe Tufu tyres should investigate. ie tubies with hook beadings........
  7. tray zonefivesoftware.com sporttracks. import and export may work there.
  8. top tube measurements can be "manipulated" by moving the saddle back and forward and putting on a shorter/longer stem. Bikes like the Eddy Merckx have "longer" top tubes, because of their slack seat post angle, which is normally 2deg less than most other bikes. On your bike set up how far back is your saddle? This is a hint about your prefered seat post angle. On small bikes that angle is 75deg, and as much as 72.5deg for a extra large bike. If you have short crank (say 170mm instead of 175mm, or 172.5mm) you should be able to more your saddle back by a few mm giving you a longer "virtual" top tube length. What is the length of your stem? most guys set with the 100mm stem, but you can push to 110mm and 120mm without serious stearing issues. THis also give a little more "length" on your bike. Finally the trend seems to be for smaller frames (as against larger frams in the 70's and 80's) so being a bit short on the TT may be seen by some as an advantage.
  9. that is so un South African. But, wait, TiBones, you not his official spokesperson, so he can now deny that he was ever in the race, and is only entering it now under tremedous pressure from his supporters. And that you have totally quoted him out of context, being put up to do such a thing by on of the other candidates......................
  10. maybe we can start a co-allition of alternative candidates and then attack each other, almost like SA politics
  11. race organisers admin group. A new initiative to help making race entry and organisation easier.
  12. can we not include HR, captain slow and myself as well, for more exposure. I know I am on the bike in traffic every day. HR is a institution at Groenkloof, and partnering with Signup makes good sense.
  13. this sounds like the SA version of Apprentice, with Tokyo appointing two for the price of one.
  14. this is the closest election since one of Toohot!!'s avatars asked whether he was an idiot or he was just an idiot.
  15. remember to grease the thread when putting the pedals back on. THe pedals will grown and moan like a cheap whore that hasn't been paid if you don't.
  16. kiwi, even your prices are climbing...............
  17. there are a number of good jeep track and single track along the railway lines from Cullinan-Rayton-Mamalodi-Pyramids-Britz way for the adventurous, also some good stuff around the small holdings of Rooiwal. Calabash also has some trails around Walmanstal area.
  18. unfortunately on tar the lapse of concentration could be someone else, like the motorist or the guy about to switch you. On dirt most of the falls are your own fault. You can "own" them.
  19. as we head into a reccession, the supply of money will be less and less, as business becomes unable to generate profits. Some businesses will close and others will refuse to give those hefty pay increases of two years ago. We as consumers will have less to spend. Obviously businesses will use every excuse to get you to part with your money. Things like "we have to live too", "what about overheads" ext. The simple rule will be supply and demand. As the demand for bicycling parts decreases the prices will have to come down. If they don't many bicycle shop owners may have to close shop. In these times only the innovative will survive. I know that one of my LBS's are making a neat profit each month, but then they are cheaper than any other LBS in the area. Mail order outfits and low overhead outfits are still doing more than survive, but then again they are cheaper. In the end it is your money, spend it how you like.
  20. there sell line was, friends don't let friends cycle junk......
  21. fand, Mtb is safer than road, simply because road the danger/riskd are determined by a third party, ie the motorist. Also in road racing a sprint or a fast tricky decent can become deadly, not because you are unskilled, but rather because someone else is unskilled and switches you intentionally or unintentionally. For this reason road cycling and injuries are almost like gambling, the risk factors are external cannot be reduced by improving your technical abilities. With mtb, with skill comes speed. You only are taking risks when you are riding at the limit of your skill envelope, and then again that is your choice, and not a third party. By training you can decrease the risk of accidents and injuries. You are in charge. If risk taking is your FUN can I introduce you to playing russian roullette with a pistol?
  22. GEAX. Their white collection is something else.
  23. all vebby vebby interesting. For a bunch of so called capitalists you all whine and whinge when the principles of free market and free speach are exercises. If you want to sell something on the hub, then everyone has the right to comment. If you don't like it then why are you doing it? Some real bargains have been posted and there has been a lot of POSITIVE support for the sale. Consider Slowbee's COICC sale, over 20 pages of positive advice. What about Kiwi's and tokens stuff, no complaints. However, there are those who are wanting to make a fair profit at the expensive of another hubber. If you are one of those, go open a bicycle shop and get involved in socialist price fixing. In general the hub is a good place to buy as most guys here are either helping other hubbers, or trying to "dump" excess stuff at a nominal price.
