  1. neewat, dink jy kan maar moed opgee hier, daai twee gaan nie nou stop nie....
  2. Normally a coke zero, and a few bottles of purified water ice cold, plus a FutureLife shake early afteroon. As mojoman said try diluting fruit juice with water....takes some getting used to but better than most options available. To jazz up normal ol water try it with some lemon juice as well.
  3. Thanks Covie, i did this, sort of, only 7 times per wheel and not up to 30kmh...hmmm ok then
  4. The brakes where bled in according instructions from LBS. I dont mind a little noise, but sheez, when the guy in front of you "skriks" when you brake, you know you have issues. Will do a search here on Hub as well, for future reference
  5. OK, so I got my Spez Rockhopper 3 weeks ago...(what an awesome bike btw) 1st ride race went very well. Thereafter the brakes started with their issues Front: Sounds almost like its metal on metal and if the pads and calipers arent aligned properly with the rotor Back: Shudders awhen braking and sounds like a buffalo on heat Went into an LBS around Centurion, they applied disc brake cleaner, checked alignment, even "cooked" the pads to make sure there are no impurities (dirt) still the problems persisted. So I ended up taking the bike back to "The Sports Basement" in Woodmead. The response I got there was that the pads of most of the Spez bikes they sold somehow got oxidized during the transport process or whatever. I was told that organic pads are most likely to solve the problems/issues I have. They are still waiting for the order of brake pads to be delivered. The workshop Manager there just called me and said that he is working on a similar issue on another bike. I dont mind waiting a while, just as long as the problemsare rectified. But it got me thinking: what are the most likely causes of brake related noise/shudder So far Ive come up with, pads/calipers not aligned, dirt in pads and on rotors, pads oxidised, rotor not running true. Whata else am I missing? Possible remedies are what the LBS here in Centurion did, other type of brake pads, a copper strip/paste at the back of the pads, true rotors etc. Once again. what else am I missing? And yes, I know that some of you might say change to Shimano, Hayes, Magura and that the Juicy 3's are kuk, so any advice/comments are welcome Thanks
  6. Red Hot chain & casette cleaner.......capish?
  7. After my ride this am, had some issues(nothing major) with front brakes. Phoned one lbs in centurion, they were too busy and couldn't help me. Phoned South Bay, went there, took bike immediately, offered coffee while I waited, and I ended up paying nothing. Thanks guys, its little things like these that will make me come back time after time!
  8. Yip Bemjamin, KZN to GP while sleep walking? That's extreme dude
  9. Just stopped at Groenkloof and found these in the road just as you enter the boom gate. Text me on zero eight three four double zero two eight double six. Will be here for a while or if u are in Centurion, I will drop them off on my way home
  10. Having a close friend or family member buying a 29-er is like having a brother thats in jail....you still may love him but you dont necessarily talk to him or about him. So when u go riding with him either be waayyyyy in front or behind, but NEVER NEXT TO HIM
  11. U could be in luck at www.thesportsbasementy.co.za. They had stock a few weeks ago. Dunno about the size. Their price is around 1200 or so. Located in Woodmead Joburg
  12. OK so I phoned Epic Sports just now. They are now located in the Dros Centre in Jean Avenue Centurion. They have outrides every Saturday morning from 06:30, and split into various groups (distance & Speed) Jaco at the shop said anyone can join and yuo dont have to be a member. So that's what I'll be doing this Saturday, its close to home from where I stay (6km or so) so maybe even ride there and back for maore training. Will be taking my training partner with me
  13. So where do we ride then?
  14. FFS this is bad, close to where I stay (Rooihuiskraal North, Wierda Glen Est), we normally ride through Raslouw, past Heuweloord/Sundeland Ridge as last part of our route, now what? Not even large groups would help. Considered joining the Cent Cycling club for safety but would it work? And lately the trails at Groenies and to lesser extent voortrekker are booming on saturdays
  15. Availability like in every LBS/Dischem whereever. The manufacturer also has to ensure that they have sufficient levels of stock available in order to supply demand. I'm going to meet with the manufacturer in the coming week to determine what information I can distribute etc.
  16. I got a tub ober the weekend, very light taste, not at sickeningly sweet as some of the stuff you get out there.
  17. thanks for the feedback so far, keep it coming I only spoke briefly to the manufacturers/owner yesterday and between us it was agreed that we can start looking at marketing the product properly. This poll serves the purpose of getting an initial feel of the "market" and to establish if its not saturated already.
  18. in the bicyling Mag on sale at the moment there is a whole section on the advantages of dairy, referring to chocolate milk as well. They said you can even use chocolate syrup and mix with milk if Im not mistaken
  19. Hey all I came across an endurance/energy drink that is being used by several tri-athletes as well as a pro-cycling team (Local SA team). Its not available in shops at the moment. Had preliminary discussions with the owner/manager regarding the possible marketing/distribition of the product. What information would you need to consider using this product? The price is really good and half of what you would normally expect to pay.
  20. geez that Focus is nice.... check this out maybe/possibly/why not: http://www.axis-bikes.com/bikes/mtb-hardtail/a-10-29er
  21. Thats awesome, now the most important thing is to never stop!!
  22. Has anyone used "Phaster" before and how do you rate it?
  23. PM this guy, he might help https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum/user/3564-pornstar/
  24. excellent replies, thanks all. Yeah, we havent been on his bike in a week. Still have the other one which is one of those trikes you can steer. So he's getting the pedalling motion and does ride small distances himself. Shame the other day he told me (Afrikaans): " wanneer my blou fietsie groot is, gaan hy rooi wees (like my new mtb) en dan gaan ek ook so vinnig jaag" so at least he knows where he is going!
  25. I can only do it once a month or so. Decided to follow the USN Mtb Cup this year, and maybe a big one later in the year. For the rest its just riding where ever. The main focus of this year is to enjoy it and have fun. Geez, a friend of mine stays in USA (Anaheim/Orange County) one block away from his home they have the most amazing trails, thats all he does. but then again that's what its all about
