  1. Hilux`s are too easy. We lost 4 in a 18 months - all in Pta. Look at the insurance on a hilux - crazy!
  2. Goeie werk Baas Speurder Faber!!!!!! Someone please offer Ricci a big warm cup of Gofarkyoself! Love the closing caption : Riccardo Chiarini is no longer welcome at the Cape Epic event.
  3. PF30 has an ID of 46mm if I remember correct. BB30 has an ID of 41mm if I remember correct. PF30 takes up space for the bearing housing - thus the larger diameter. In BB30 the bearings fit straight into the frame and held in place with the circlip.
  4. One is prob barometric and the other one not Did it get colder during the ride? Or did you ride into a big valley of some kind? Reason for the question is that some units use temp in there calculation that can through it off. We have a friend that does on avg about 400m of climbing more that us on a 1500m alt gain almost every time. It makes his Strava look good!
  5. Have been very Happy with the Spearfish so the new Salsa Bucksaw caught my attention http://www.salsacycles.com If you are going to go BIG - Go FULL SUSS BIG!
  6. Hey Talus, The event is still going and Singetrack Fuel will be hosting the Refreshment Station at Finish. http://www.xdirt.co.za/#up-and-coming-events Come say hi. Looking forward to seeing you there. Cheers.
  7. Will feed the Piggy Bank a snack in just a bit.
  8. I have played with a similar material before and it is widely used in the mining industry due to its self lubricating properties. Very easy to machine but rather pricey and can be heavy. Stephen - I se you guys are out in Kempton. Just give us an idea of weight and price. Guess we can do Hub and suspension bearings then too?
  9. Hey Jacoboth, You can always try Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve for trail running - just other side of the hill - free entry - 4.7km long loop with shorter options available too. Real trail running. Contact Weight Weenie - he loves trail and is always looking for someone to join him. That being said - a bike park 2 km from my house would be awesome!
  10. Well the relief/terrain/slope really allows for some interesting stuff to be done there. Should for a good play ground. Plus - Kloof hospital is right next door - wonder if this was the ER`s idea of creating a new revenue stream?
  11. Saw on Twitter that Phil Buys was talking about a new bike park opening in Pta soon. Cant confirm that this is it. How much space is in there? Prob anly about 1/4 of Groenkloof?
  12. Dropped some info on PM.
  13. I`m a big fan of BAT seal. Most shops have some and you can also get on Bicicletta online shop.
  14. Camelbak / Baby Bjorn conversion - can be done!
  15. Looks like you and I will be doing Bricks with baby trailers buddy!
  16. I need to get Abel`s nr from you some time - I think Venzuela, my green Machine - needs to become a sexy little black nr soon! Im thinking Matt back with gloss decals, just a little white to pinstripe the decals. Maybe some Gray/Granite somewhere.
  17. Why is it so much shorter this year? What happened to the Ultra? Ok - I see now, its still on. Just listed as a sep event.
  18. Everything seems daunting the first time - after that, no worries. I always use some copper paste when replacing the bearings - just makes the next round so much easier. As for pulling the bearings and fitting new ones - this is where the guys from Salsa thought it through - the pivot bolt head is the same size as the inner side opening to the bearing - just take the bolt out, feed it through the other side bearing and knock it out. Same with replacing it - the outer washer is exactly the same size as the OD of the bearing. Put the new bearings on the bolt/shaft and start tightening - no problem.
  19. If they shorten the swim it will work against Henry and for RM. Any day, any race, anywhere - anything can happen. Will be good fun to watch - hope the Saffa boys can rub it!
  20. Richard is one of the fastest runners in the group. He will know the course better than anyone and has one against Gomez once before. If he can come off the bike in the front pack - he will stand a very good chance to take it as he knows that he can run with the best. My guess his game plan would be to try and stay with the lead pack on the swim but if there is a split and he gets caught behind, he will have to get the rest of the pack to drive the chase while he tries to save his legs as much as possible for the run. He has miles of hart - and home field support. If he doesn't have to close a gap on the run - he has my vote for pulling out the K.D. factor and brining the hurt. Don't know if he has enough toe to close down the gap and take on the best in the business - he`s talented, but so is his competition! Go Richard, GO! Time to kick it up a gear and go to that deep dark place that smells like burnt tar - that place that no-one else is willing to go - BRING THE NOISE!
  21. Hope Pro 2 make a stainless steel freehub. That`s all Im saying.
  22. That is the key question. Please advise on price for hardware & software needed, installation and steaming pricing - how much to watch a rugby game, movie or sitcom episode? Can I get Dora & Sophia for my daughter too?
  23. That sounds like a plan - Stan. Was looking at St Helena Island the other day - great location but a little small and did I mention cliff faces longer than SJP`s!
  24. How about a podium step to stand on when brushing your teeth? Ceiling van from old frames? Sign in roster in or out of the bedroom? Feeding bag hanging from the door/roof as you come into the bedroom? Indoor trainer with `Rocky` on the screen for motivation Assortment of massage creams in the dresser i.s.o. hair brushes.
  25. Then the best bet will be a new crank. BB30 has a 30mm OD on the crank spindle. GXP is 24mm with a step down to 22mm on the non-drive side. GXP is also wider than BB30. Thus - you will need a spacer to take op the space between the crank - 24mm and the bearing 30mm and also a bit of width. I run spacers on my Spearfish and have not had any hassle as yet - if that helps. Only other option is a new crank. Spacers are a lot cheaper than a new crank.
