  1. Easy to adjust(on the Xt it is, zee must be virtually the same clutch mech)and you do need to as it wears over time, basically a hoop of spring steel around a cam like thing and that stops the cage from flicking all over the place, the tighter the hoop is the less easily the cage can move/flick and hence less chain drops. If the clutch isn't adjusted properly your rd will behave as if it had no clutch.
  2. Sounds like they haven't changed the price for 15yrs well the kids price at least, what nice activity can you buy for a kid these days for R1, just about zero. Is it a municipal pool, if it is that's how the state should make amenities avail, decent if not amazing facilities and cheap.
  3. That statement is bs, though they may not be perfect customs destroys 100s of millions of confiscated counterfeit goods from china every year.
  4. Ron where are you!
  5. How the hell do people run the comrades bare foot? Every year there's a good few, 90kms on tar, they must have genetically gifted body mechanics to achieve that?
  6. Here's the guys ads, maybe if Ron can confirm that it's the same guy that was found with his stolen Spez, his name is listed as Crain: http://www.gumtree.co.za/u-seller-listings/crain/v1u100017643p1 He does normally list what he has on gumtree in thehub classifieds as well: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum/user/30536-crain/I Before anyone goes crazy it may be a coincidence and it wouldn't be nice to implicate an innocent guy, so let's see what Ron says, he knows which guy had his bike listed on thehub and gumtree.
  7. Nice one Neptune! Riding bicycles is a little piece freedom, no matter the bike or how wealthy you are the feeling is the same
  8. Rouxtjie says the big reason he likes Smoove is it's so easy to clean off and it doesn't gum up the cass. etc like squirt?
  9. So how does he explain getting the bike in his hands, is he going to explain himself in court? Is it the same guy still selling lots of high end bikes on gumtree in George, has a good few listed right now, I did notice he was listing some of them here on thehub as well. George is not very big so I was wondering where the bikes the guy had for sale were coming from, I thought it was perhaps a guy from a bike shop selling his trade ins but if he had your bike that was stolen in Stellies and subsequently found to be in his hands in George then maybe there's something that needs investigating.
  10. 1mm run out on the rim is pretty much spec for any set of wheels with disc brakes, anything less than that is just wasting your time searching for perfection that may never materialize.
  11. I'd say if anything rather upgrade the wheels completely as a set and then sell the old set to help fund the upgrade. I had a bike in medium which was too small, ended up getting the exact same bike in large which I bought complete as it was easier that way. The build was almost identical except the medium had entry level WTB Rims on Deore Hubs and the large had Ztr Flows on Hope Pro 2 hubs. The difference in rolling resistance/general bike flow was astounding, can't recommend getting a decent wheel set more, whether it's wise to upgrade your current bike or not I can't say but a good wheel set is amazing. As someone pointed out to me at the time, the things that make some of the most difference to a bike are the parts in constant motion ie wheels and tyres.
  12. Oh ja bulk(many deliveries per month) door to door courier charges are amazingly cheap, around R55 for the first kg then R15 each extra kg, which is why some online shops can afford to incentivize spending by offering free delivery on anything. Online bike shops do sometimes take you to the cleaners for courier shipping, not sure why, possibly some haven't realized they can negotiate cheaper rates with couriers.
  13. Guy has to cover admin, packing & packaging, time & petrol - R50 is a bargain. But not sending the tracking number/no communication is not on, sends a message that the seller doesn't care, I've had that before and it's not great. But then again if you get your parcel and what's inside is all good then you just got to roll with the punches, seller was obviously offering something attractive, good price maybe or product not easily avail etc. The market always squares things up, if the guy offers k4k service then you go somewhere else but if his is the best price/only one who can supply then you just got to suck it up!
  14. Slime seems to work about as well out on the trails, I remember cutting my tyre with tube on a piece of glass, about a 6mm gash through both and sealed up almost instantly. I religiously believed in slime but when I went tubeless I thought that you had to use Stan's or tubeless specific fluid so I never tried with slime but now it turns out that you can use it I'm going back to it. But I'd agree that in most situations Stan's may seal up holes marginally quicker but not significantly so. I think the drawback with slime is you may need to use a bit more and it's heavier than Stan's?
  15. I'm ditching Stan's once my current bottle is finished, it works well when it's fresh but it's expensive/only lasts a few months then disappears into the ether normally just before you get a massive puncture/makes funny balls and gums up everything when it drys out. I'm assuming with fugit/slime you can even add a little bit of water to pep it up if it drys out a bit?
  16. RIP Steve. Anyone know what happened/where?
  17. Whether it's structural or cosmetic definitely some kind of reject, that cannot be the standard way they make the tyre, would be a waste of money. Looks like they maybe decided to change the branding/logo on the side wall and coated over the original print and then they reprinted the lettering, all good for them to do that but it mustn't come peeling off. I'd say whether the reject is cosmetic or structural that peeling is grounds for a warranty replacement, especially seeing it's not just one person who's experienced it - tyres are expensive , they are put on expensive bikes and you expect them to look the part/be presentable. It's fine to sell a customer a slightly reject item if they are informed of such and it's sold at a reduced price but it's not fine if no one tells you it's reject and you pay the normal price.
  18. Been a few hectic crash threads on thehub, was wondering so you have a biggie, over the bars cartwheels etc, lying in the dirt leg twisted at a funny angle, 2 teeth knocked out/jaw feels wrong and you can't stop moaning, ja you wont be walking this one off. So what now, I have discovery hospital plan but I'm half way up the mountain and need a Helicopter medivac thing, they can cost around R10-20k depending on the situation, I'd damn well like medical aid to cover that etc. Medical bills can add up very quickly, some emergency stabilizing Meds are around R2k a shot and they may use a good few bits and pieces to make things comfortable and safe. What's the process, I'm lying there things need to happen, does Medical aid cover all the rescue bills no matter the service provider etc, do you need to phone them first and ask nicely?
  19. Heal up soon bru! Things can happen so quick when you least expect it, those microseconds of "hey I wonder how much this is going to hurt" then a few hours later it's all braced up with HD pain killers and no bike for a few weeks or months. Tokia is a maneater, oe's have tasted the dragon quite seriously numerous times over the lasts year or so?
  20. Yes do tell, it sounds interesting
  21. Be nice if the driver gets to feel some pain for his actions , not just a "bad boy don't do it again" fairy tinkle on the wrist.
  22. RIP, what a terrible situation for the family
  23. Layers all the way and you can peel as needs change. Base something like a t shirt or thermal etc, then fine knit light woolen jersey (fine knit being operative word, just heavier than a thick shirt) and then something with zips that can stop the wind and seal up the air intake spots(as padded/warm as needed)
  24. That's got to sux!! Can't even feed himself or wipe his ass Great to hear you guys are back in the saddle, getting the blood back up to boil after being out for a while does miracles
  25. How did the shop convince the guys to leave it there?
