    One year on..

Well done epoh!!! I find it hard to believe you've only been riding for a year.... It took me a year just to realise one doesn't wear underpants under your cycling shorts!!!

    Some Bad News

Always very scarey to hear and see thing like this !!! . They where cycling towards louis Botha av. to meet Marco and I on top of Sylvia's Pass. They where Hit from behind (riding in single file)by some idiot in a jetta VR6 (blue) , happened so fast that there wasn't even time to get a reg. number!! Anyway Lidio's injuries are as Bruce said plus around R140 000 worth of damages on 2 brand new 6.9 SSL Treks which I had built up for them on Friday afternoon. To the guy in the Jetta ... Just remember "The Wheel Turns"!!!!!!!!!!
  13. why the pro's aren't chasing the money is beside me. As for the vets category ...we felt it just wasn't worth the trip for a 20minute race ..., even with good prize money it still didn't balance , 3 or 5 riders , traveling, entrys, accomadation.....But yes theres good coverage for the sponsors ..vets ...maybe 10seconds.
  14. I agree with you BikeMax about your statments about Boonen. I'll always try get rid of a good sprinter before we get to the line . If in a break , one can start picking up about 20km's to go who in the break is starting to suffer. If a fast sprinter starts taking strain then you try lift the tempo to a uncomfortable pace for him, hopefully he gets droped. Or if all else fails jump him as much as possible , if like me one cant sprint then I would rather loose the race trying to get rid of a good sprinter than let him beat me on the line without trying to do anything about it!
  15. Another stupid question. How come a power meter takes free wheeling into account ? surely it should leave it out of the equation. I noticed the other day , about 3 k's from home that I'd riddden with an "Intensity factor " of 0.97 , but after free wheeling the last bit home it droped to around 0.89.
  16. Which is not very often 'cos you've ridden the okes into the ground in the previous 90km Bikemax - what's the best way to train L7 - do we get 101% a personal trainer in the gym - you know' date=' the ones that wear g-string leotards and stroke your leg to get you motivated!! If anything it will up his testosterone levels . Will put in a good word with the sponsors - very justifiable. [/quote'] Where do I sign up!!!! I'll bet I could get close to Chunky's 2100W with a little motivator in a leotard
  17. No wonder I always get a clap in the sprint. Just remember...you can't make a race horse out of a donkey!!
  18. THATS UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I'm yet to see the 1000 mark...even if its for a second.
  19. Same as my new love of my life Trek 6.9 ssL. Its been sprayed ( or looks sprayed) silver/grey , but when you turn it so that the light reflects off it , it gives off that raw carbon look.
  20. Hey Chunky. I've seen you ride with Srm's, what saught of power are you generating in a sprint?
  21. looks like i wasted my money on my license! i am starting to think that it would be best for me to just enter the races in the open cats & enjoy the scenery. Marco Vb has also just baught a powermeter ...so I think after I've seen his stats I'll be thinking like you.....
  22. Of course you can do that - just give it time and train at the right levels - and make very ride count. Plenty of 2 x 20 at 95-100% FTP or 3 x 15 etc.. Just keep steady and consistent and keep pushing and the break throughs will come BikeMax....QUOTE "make every ride count" A good motto to Live and train by...
  23. Thanks BikeMax! Will be starting some TT sessions very shortly!!! Starting to feel beter about all this powertraining....Did a 3min climb yesterday at an average of 6.625W/kg..so Im getting there...... slooooooowly
  24. I'd give my left you no what for that kinda power ratio !! Do tell... what was your p/w ? I'll bet you are close to 5w/kg when in form (Robby was at 350w and 70kg last year at the tours) I WISH!!!!!!! not even close 5Watts /kg from Robbie is very impressive!!!!! I've only just started working with a powermeter so I'm learning every day. I started using after a 3 week rest , so My whole December was slow Base training. I had Bruce test me one afternoon. But I was stupid ....as I'd done a 4.5 hour ride that morning , so wasn't feeling all that sharp. I also battled to get used to putting my bike on a stationary trainer for the test....so it didn't feel normal to me , but i'll get use to it. That day I rode a 20min TT but only managed around 4.1W/kg I'm keen to do another test in about 2 weeks time after a couple of interval sessions and a race or two!
