To the Ogranisers!!! You Guys Are a bunch of Money hungry @ssholes who only care about making a quick buck rather than worring about the safety of the competitors!!! firstly the entrance fee of R160 ( for a late entry ) I think was pathetic!!! thats equivelant to some of the major races in this country with "FULL RODE CLOSURE'!!! And what where the pro's racing for R700 thats an insult on its own!!! Secondly .Why couldn't you guys pay the Metro police to assist you guys with this event to try make it safer for all of us. If A small little Sunday race like the Benoni world champs can do in ......soo could you. or Get the CSA involved!!!! This race 151km should have been stoped 10km's into the race ....200 odd riders spread across the road ( not even trying to keep left ) with HUGE 24 wheeler coal trucks flying past at 120KM/H. As for the rest of the event .....I could sit here and bitch all day.... All the accidents that happened...is blood on your hands!!!!!!
  5. I think the Ergomo cranks are made by FSA . Yes the Zipp cranks are nice but are very pricey . If you plan on buying an Ergomo unit plus Zipp cranks ..you may aswell buy a set of SRM's. Sell your Trek 1500 , buy the Ergomo and a second hand Alu. Soloist for training . this way you'll save your Carbon race bike .
  6. Its ONE of the biggest brands WORLD WIDE!!!!! I Garantee you this is bullsh*t!!!! If you think Raleigh and Marida etc..move bikes, come along with me to TREK SA .....You'll sh*t yourself!!!! and they say compared to the rest of the world , there sales here locally are a drop in the ocean compared to European and US sales.... Oom H ...Dont believe everything you read!!!101%2007-03-27 06:37:46

  10. We rode past the accident in Boksburg on Saturday morning , there where pieces of bicycle scattered all over the rode . Made me feel sick to my stomach seeing all that debree.
  11. When a guy like Armstrong climbed a real climb in the TDF where the mountain is filled with round a half million spectators screaming abuse at him, you never saw him turn around and give a spectator the finger. Its called being a profesional!!! What if a Barloworld CEO was watching the coverage, seeing an employee being distracted by a spectator and swearing on national TV ?????not to good for the Brand!!!

  17. Ultimate carbon? Mavic released a brand new wheel to the public under the Cosmic banner. The new set is called Cosmic Carbone Ultimate and Mavic has positioned the wheel as its top-of-the-line all-round race wheel. http://images.velonews.com/images/report/11650.17481.t.jpg "It's designed to be the lightest aero wheel that we have for hardcore racing," said Sean Sullivan, Mavic's marketing director. "This is a totally new approach to wheels for us, it has carbon spokes, carbon rim and carbon hub. We've been working for a little over two years on this project with our racers and the technology is dialed in and we've got the production capabilities so why not throw the switch right now? We wanted to get it out there as soon as possible, especially for our racers." The wheel only comes in a tubular configuration and weighs 1185 grams. Its rim height is 40mm and it's molded from 12K carbon fiber. The most interesting aspect is that the wheel does not use a mechanical spoke attachment system. The spokes, also made from carbon fiber, are molded to the rim and the hub. The spokes on the front wheel actually continue from one side of the rim through the high flange hub to the opposite side of the rim. Mavic claims that the materials and construction method combine to form a wheel that is very stiff. The front wheel can not be trued, but the rear can be by means of a unique hub-mounted nipple system. Because the rim and spokes are molded together they are impervious to water, giving the wheelset added advantage in poor conditions or in cyclo-cross. The wheelset will be available in June to the tune of $2750.
  18. 4 sets of shimano wheels... That would require you to buy 4 cassettes ....unless you swop cassettes when you change wheels..
  19. Hi Greenie. Yes we are using it, currently riding there top end groupset Force . As any new product there has been a couple of problems as you may have heard regarding the brake calipar recall. But the importers here in SA are very helpfull in sorting out all the problems. I for one love the feel of the groupset, alot like campag . Good value for money would be the "Rival" groupset. it weighs 100g more than its big brother FORCE but costs half the price. I'm sure you'll soon see alot more Pro teams using it in 2008.
  20. Despite what happened/didn't happen/could have/shouldhave or never did!!!! Can't take anything away from Mark spencer(VA winner). He raced really well , did alot of attacking and generally tried to make a good race of some very negative racing......he was the worthy winner and rightfully deserved first place!
  21. Good one Carinus!!! Now organise a vets team for the Giro...
