I still don’t see the need. I have many sub 3 hour races in both the wet and dry. Brakes are not the issue as my dura ace units are strong, grip on wet and dry roads is the issue. Disks will simply add weigh, Cycle cross is a different issue, disks will help a lot.

You need a checker, generally a XT chain will last 1500 + dependent on mud / dust / cleaning conditions. Cassette and rings last 5+ chains provided your don't run worn chains.

I'm in VA at 6:05. Licensed groups are bigger, in that the age brackets have been stretched. This has lead the open seeded starting earlier. At least it seems that way...
