  1. Same size and resin pads. Simply not as powerful.
  2. I was riding 2014 xtr brakes, moved to the new level ultimates. The xtr are superior by a fair bit. I have overshot a few of my corners with the ultimate that the xtr took care of.
  3. I have a 26er in my shed, xt groupset and a sid fork. The bike offers a great ride but a 29er is just an all round better experience. There is nothing wrong with driving a 1978 Ford escort but aircon and power steering simply improve the driving experience. Yes, I still ride a bmx. Lots of fun with the kids and a great tool to teach the kids to jump and control a bike. So I wont be doing a marathon on a bmx nor a 26er, same way my Ford escort won't be my daily drive.
  4. Hambini for 2024 US president!! He will be the first 5 year old to run for office.
  5. 26ers now have a sole purpose in the circus, clown bikes.
  6. Flexible epoxy. Best option is a new pair of shoes.
  7. Self insure. I am yet to have a disagreement with the broker.
  8. Recently moved to a set of Reynolds Blacklabel XC 259. Running well and smooth. Key Features Asymmetric rim profile for even spoke tension Tubeless ready hookless rim profile Torch hubs by Industry Nine Rear hub with 3° engagement & 6 pawls 25mm inner width & 30mm out width Lifetime warranty
  9. Sounds odd a new chain measures 20%.
  10. I replace at 75%, certainly not at 50%. That been said, I never go a decimal over 75%. Generally get 6 chains on a drive train with the last ridden to 100%.
  11. Trek. Personal experience is that cannondale has never been the best build - in terms of frame quality.
  12. Been riding sram eagle axs. Was on xtr for 10 plus years and will never go back. The electric derailleur is brilliant.
  13. May be time for a wheel upgrade. Any excuse...to upgrade!
  14. I use 3m PPF. I apply the film wet. Its very pliable and lasts quite well. Great protection and easy to replace when needed. I purchase the film in a 300mm or 600mm role by the meter. 3m also do a mat film, depending on your bike finish.
  15. I ride the bike at speed, nobody but my 2 paws maintain my steed. Sadly I trust nobody but myself in this situation.
  16. Road and gravel, great idea. Mountain bike, not so great an idea. A power meter on a mountain bike offers little value to us mortal weekend worriers who sneek in a few midweek rides.
  17. My toys are in a sunglass case (soft case) in my pocket. After years of carrying the kitchen sink you learn what not to carry! Co2 taped to the mtb seat post. A phone call to wife gets me out of most messes. That said I carry very little and have only called for help 4 times in 20 plus years. One being hit by a car!
  18. Throw it in the big black bin. Buy a set of shimano's and pretend the who sram relationship never happened. You can thank me later.
  19. O boy, the big kids bike debate. I have 3 little ones 5, 10 and 12 so been down this path. Firstly it's a kids bike for the little one to learn, play and destroy. Destroy as in they are not born with the ability to shift under load and want to ride with Johnny down the road in the mud and sticks. Please remember this is a kids bike not a mini version of your own. Unless you live in devil country tubeless is overkill and disc is not needed on a 25kg child. I personally detest gripshift (more than taxis) but have found my kids love gripshift because they don't have adult thumbs to push a trigger. That been said the goal is to love cycling and develop skills. My 5 year old is on a gt micro at 5kgs. He loves the bike and does a sold 7km each day. My older 2 are now on 24inch bikes and have a bmx each. I prefer the bmx approach as the child learn skills and the bikes are indestructible and of course weigh very little. My 12 year old on her 24inch goes down rocky hills like a pro, I wet myself in fear! Teach your child to love cycling and to jump potholes, pavements and skills skills and more skills. A mini me bike with trigger shifting disk brakes can come latter. My 5c, just remember kids don't all want to ride 2 hours and race on sunday (2 years in I learnt that). I race road and mountain bike at a high level. My kids love the sport but will do the distance when they want to. An adult bike is 9kgs. Why put your kids on that weight machine? They can't bench that weight. Ps- I left SA a few years ago. My kids ride the Australian streets and local trails on their own so I know there bike preferences well and my number 1 tool is a derailleur hanger alignment tool !!! Actually my daughter prefers to hit the back yard on her Honda crf125fb. I have a few dented trees. Let them be kids.
  20. No. Next question?
  21. Business as usual, however avoid contact. This will change in the next 7 days. The only certainly is uncertainty. Don't let your health dip due to training.
  22. Having changed the battery in my sony Xperia, the garmin won't be too hard. Hairdryer to loosen the glue and your in. That been said, I'm always keen to upgrade and a 830 is VERY nice ????
  23. XTR all the way. Sram is agricultural. Ridden and owned both, XTR is way smoother and offers better ergonomics for my paws.
  24. Legend One of the best.
