I do the same, basically start with a 100% full set of bottles. Never needed to stop, however my 2 bottles are empty at the 100km mark. 80km for the 160km, I don't see an issue here.

XTR all the way. Sram is agricultural. Ridden and owned both, XTR is way smoother and offers better ergonomics for my paws.

My BMC team road frame and fork have covered 35000km. No accidents or issues to report, at 7kgs on the button thus bike is superb. Two groupsets and two wheelset later, I have no issue lining up to race the bike. I have to ask, at what point do i need to worry about the carbon failing?

I have done the Shova 16 times. There is ALWAYS a wind. Mostly head, can't recall been blessed with a tail. Just remember it's only pain and the hills are mental speedbumps. The first 25km makes the race, head down and go. Sub 3 is fairly easy to do.

Loads of mtb trails, parks and forests to ride. Far less racing but plenty of trails. Cairns is tropical and very hot. Road is also an option. Far safer than SA. I have not entered a race in the past 2 years!

I had my 10 speed ea90 freewheel body machined to fit the 11 speed cassette. I recall I had the Easton agents do it as no 11 speed bodies were available. I'm sure any descent engineer with a lathe can do it.

I flew Emirates, durban Dubai Brisbane with my BMC in a semi rigid box. Had no insurance and no issues. Couldn't find insurance to 80k on a one way ticket...! Flown many airlines, sadly the luck best of the draw.
