  1. Didn't end that well for the Nazis. But I meant schizophrenia, as Morne pointed out. Maar dis nie die dood van Katrein nie, my eie Afrikaanse onderrok hang ook soms uit.
  2. Jeez From thread necro to wild boars to divorces to suit linings in a matter of hours. This place is wonderfully scizo.
  3. Going to be awkward trying to explain that to your significant other.
  4. Jip. It's insane. And it's STILL A REVERB. (The three non-functional reverb in my parts bin is a reminder of why I moved away from sram.)Every time that I feel a culture shock coming when I see prices, I ride my SS. Itbjust reaffirms to me that we don't have to buy into the high tech gear to have fun. And I'm pretty sure that your Diverge will serve the same purpose for you.
  5. I've bought many good deals from them. Will definitely shop there again. Just know what the value is of the item you are buying, as their MSRP is usually inflated, but you can get good deals from them.
  6. so it's not just us mountain bikers?
  7. We have a new puppy on the way home. Bella, and my daughter Lisa. Rescue from Riviersonderend.
  8. When it comes to access to singlespeed parts living in Hipster City helps.
  9. Or maybe go into the Aladdin's cave that is Woodstock Cycle Works and search for a frame/build there? Aaah, I see you are in the wrong side of the Pretty Mountains.
  10. If it is a steel frame yiu could maybe ask someone like Dave Mercer to cut out the vertical dropouts and braze/weld in some horizontal dropouts for you?
  11. That build is even more sublime than when the Greasy had it. [emoji108] Enjoy it!
  12. Well the Around the Pot organizers think a 200 miler is a great idea, so you might have some company.
  13. I really want to do a couple of Bikepacking trips. Cederberg Circuit, but with the onus on riding as many of the trails in Cederberg and Koue Bokkeveld as possible. Location - Citrusdal, and eventually finish in Citrusdal again. Discipline -Bikepacking Distance - 250-300km Difficulty - well how fast do you want to go? https://www.capecycleroutes.co.za/route/cederberg-circuit Bikepacking trip from Greyton to Gansbaai via Tesselaarsdal, the Haarkapper Trail, the Beloftebos trails and the Lomond trails. Maybe split the trails to do some on the return leg.
  14. In 2006 a bunch of us did a holiday trip with the girls in a following bakkie. 5 days from Calitzdorp to Calitzdorp via Hartenbos, Glentana, George, De Rust, De Hoek and Swartberg pass. On the first day one of the guys broke his wrist on top of Rooiberg pass with a flopped Wheelie, and on the last day on the way to Calitzdorp we may have pedalled a section of that road sans clothes. It was bliss, some of the best gravel road riding I've done in my life. Made some life long friends on that trip.
  15. We'll just have to wait and see 'n f any new stuff makes it's way to SA without being a special order from OZ then.
  16. A single mountain bike offering and it's a fat bike, in size 14 that costs R37k. And I thought Orbea was being done a disservice by the local suppliers....
  17. My dad decided I needed a mitre saw after I shared my jigsaw bevel cut struggles with him. I came home after work to this package last week. I'm not sure whether it's because we are spending a lot of time together in my workshop lately or because he is tired of me asking him to bring his mitre saw from gansbaai every second week, but I am thankful. The first fun little project was a cellphone stand that I made for him from some scrap wood I had. I'm not sure what I enjoyed the most, trying out a new toy or trying work out the different angles to be cut using long forgotten high school geometry. That's him and my daughter on the pic. Next up: hexagon wall boxes and a floating shelf for the coffee station.
  18. When you see a member of the Duro police with a ruler just give him a lekker backhand slap. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
  19. Well while your brandishing that wide brush that you are using to generalize the coffee drinking crowd, please allow me the opportunity to paint you with it : If you really believe that monologue you posted, then you are slap bang in the middle of the bean-to-cup target market. Because your prejudice and pallet will not be able to get you away from average but acceptable coffee. I'm yet to taste a BTC that I will describe as anything better than "nice." And I'm definitely not in the 0.00000001 of the population as described by you. But I also don't rate my coffee equipment on Price vs Value vs Time like you do. And I'm not jobless either. You are like the guy that says "koop met 'n specialized epic" every time someone asks for advice on buying a mountain bike. Even if they want a trail Bike, or enduro bike.
  20. Then I'll get the one with the PID, and upgrade the grinder later.
  21. At that rate the only reason for not buying by the kilo is because you need to lug it around the mountain in your backpack. It's terrible, my wife has become a coffee slut, she'll put any coffee in her mouth. Lately she prefers those cappuccino sachets, so I'm the only one drinking at home, so it's about 250g a week. Fortunately Somerset West has a plethora of roasters around, so I'm on freshly roasted beans every week.
  22. If you are serious about espresso and consistent flavor, then the pid will be worth it. It is basically an advanced temperature controller that ensure consistent temperature control. Otherwise you'll have to learn to use the machine's routine to control temp. I'd get the pid if I were you. Just bear in mind, the time between pulling shots and steaming milk is between 1 and 2 minutes. So if you are making lattes remember that. I'd go for a secondhand Oscar and grinta grinder. But that is because I have them, and I have a Krupa burr grinder.
  23. Sorry to hear that Savage. Hard Lines. Glad you are unscathed. I agree with DJR. Don't hesitate to take the trauma counseling offer. I was involved in an car accident last year, brushed it off. Two months later I checked myself into ER with chest pains. Turned out to be anxiety and PTSD driven. Sorted now, but I could have saved some of the hair on this receding hairline of mine.
  24. No Brainer. At a savings of R3.5 per cup that R2000 breaks even at 572 cups. About a year or daily coffees for two persons (not counting the coffees you will make for friends.) And then you have a wider range of FRESH high quality coffees to choose from. AND you can continue composting your grounds instead of worrying about the aluminum single use pods.
  25. I've had that on my takealot wishlist for a long time. Funny enough my edc knife of choice lately has been one of my bigger pocket knives. Doesn't mean that I don't want a troika....
