  1. have mercy on whomever has the misfortune of washing your windows.
  2. Baloo. 40kgs of who goes there?
  3. Did they add some braai magic?
  4. Gauranteed that the user of that word has never picked up a copy of the Cape Argus. Or probably any English newspaper.
  5. I can't comment on the Pretoria trails, as I live in the Kaap, but we also have an abundance of badly draining trails here. There are trails that drain well and can be ridden even in our wet winter. These are mostly old classic trails, built before the Big Berm Boom. But some of the newer trails are built with drainage in mind from the start. I also ride through winter, regardless of hoe wet it may be, but I do mostly ride my SS then.
  6. She may have had less than stellar results, but don't under estimate the value of her social media following. Add her long history at Trek into that as well. They may not have been willing to pay the same price she commanded the last couple of years, but that is pure speculation.
  7. He is immune. Swapping a Land Rover for a Duster. He has probably heard every broken LR joke twice. And lived a third of them. Unless it's the BMW engined Landy. Then only a quarter* of the jokes has become reality. *Remember kids, 72.3% of all quoted stats are made up on the spot.
  8. Dad jokes. What's next? Dad bod or a station wagon?
  9. Xmas is coming soon. Time to be generous.
  10. Safe bet is that the covid shipping backlog is to blame for their (Lyne and Rapide) stock issues. Shimano is sitting with a 400day lead time on their OEM orders. We'll be feeling the knock on effect for a while still. Over tightening a pedal to the point of stripping a thread is highly unlikely. Maybe by using a pipe or powerbar to add leverage. Threading it in the right way and then adding force will however strip the thread. And then taking it out and reinserting will exacerbate the situation. I have stripped a thread in my youth. It happened by not tightening the pedal correctly and then it working loose until it was only held in partway. That was drilled out and an insert pressed in by an engineering shop. Was a couple of hundred bucks if I recall correctly.
  11. Free marketing 204 lesson: Service failures will happen. How the service provider reacts can potentially have a longer effect on the customer's satisfaction and brand loyalty than the failure itself. The service provider needs to ensure that the service recovery exceeds the customer's expectation, then the long term effect will be a nett positive.

  13. That reminds me, we need a better bread knife. I have a piece of off cut meranti here from my coffee pour over stand that will become a knife block similar to yours once the pour over is done.
  14. Don't faff around with DIY. https://bikemob.co.za/products/shimanoclearbleedfunnel This, and some shimano mineral oil is all that you need. You level lever so that it is parallel to the floor. Screw our bleed nipple, screw in funnel. Add oil to funnel. Remove stopper stick. Pull and flick the brake lever repeatedly until no more air bubbles escape into the oil. Insert stopper stick, unscrew funnel, close reinsert bleed screw, move brake down. Voila. If there are bubbles trapped somewhere where there is a kink in the line around internal routing it might need a few goes at this. You can even leave the bleed bucket open and strap the lever to the bar overnight. And sometimes an air bubble hides in the caliper. Removing it from the bike makes it easier to angle it in such a way to get the bubble out and up the line. And then the real higher grade option is to pull the pads, remove the bleed nipple at the caliper and do a top down flush.

    The Munga 2020

I've been going through the same homework. Garmin also in the lead for me.
  16. The Southeys Vines mtb trail in Somerset West is an easy 3.3km loop that can be lapped. 32 Dummer St, Dorhill, Cape Town, 7130 the Wannabees trails on the farms around Somerset West are easy, and can be linked up to add a lot of mileage. A holiday pass is available. wannabees.co.za You can ride next to the beach at the prom, but don't ride when it gets busy.
  17. Crest rims are light, and relatively cheap. But they are not strong. Replace the second spoke, make sure the spoke tension is even (maybe have a good wheelbuilder do this for you.) If you lose more spokes in the next month or two, then that wheel will need a rebuild, and probably a new rim. But I'll give it another spoke first to give it a chance.
  18. But she still managed to avenge her unborn puppies by eating Wifey's laptop cable.
  19. Bella had her Snip yesterday. Now she is feeling very sorry for herself.
  20. I just spoke with my local, a giant dealer. He says they are a dime a dozen. It's probably more worth your while to buy a new one, in the correct length than to drive out to Somerset West, and buy a second hand one that's 10mm too long.
  21. What length do you need? I might have a 70mm and a 90mm in my workshop.
  22. Possibly the worst ever reason to change brake orientation. But it does prove that habits can be changed. Glad you made it work.
  23. Between my brother and I we managed to deplete the medical savings account by June every year. Good luck. May the odds be ever in your favor.
  24. Definitely, but don't think you are going to get into a forklift for the first time, and offload a Pallet worth 1,4 million and not go back and forth a few times while trying to squint past the tower while a half decent operator next to you will be offloading at three times the speed. Same with spraying, it usually takes me half a day to get a result on something that I am happy with on something that I don't care about. So I'm pretty sure that I will practice on something cheap and nasty until I'm happy before I attempt to spray a bike frame that I want to be seen with.
  25. Spray painting is like driving a forklift. In theory it is easy, and with a bit of thought and being careful most people can do it and get okay results. But to get great results consistently, one has to do it every day. So it can be done, and it will probably be a very satisfying project, but just realise that the pros ask what they do, because they are good at it.
