  1. He is clearly a genius, but he is a bit much for me. The lekker thing about youtube, is that you won't see his videos again after clicking Not Interested in it, his channel won't appear in your feed again. Life's too short too watch content you don't like.
  2. I also thought he was hovering somewhere around the Aspergers section. Did he play the ball on her technical knowledge and call her out on that? Or did he play the person and called her nasty things outright? Because if he kept it to her lack of knowledge when she pretends to be knowledgeable, bthwn his rant could have had merit. Naah, there is always space for decorum in the world. And to some people it does matter. (I can't claim to be one of them, I have a potty mouth sometimes, but I did marry someone to whom it does. And it is okay to respect that and to not swear when I speak to her.)
  3. But most of the shuttle type racks need to into a square hitch receiver, like the Hilux tow bars, and won't fit onto a towball like the thule racks we see here.
  4. The ranger towbar has a static limit of 250kg. These shuttle type racks will work on proper strong towbar, as fitted on most bakkies and bakkie based SUVs, but most small and medium cars won't be able to load it, and putting 5 bikes so far behind a Polo will seriously affect it's handling. But the OP has a bakkie. A shuttle rack or a roof rack coupled with a roll top deck will work perfectly well.
  5. We agree that there needs to be more stock in stores. You can't present a brand without a decent range and a decent size curve for the customer. That is why shops like sportsman's warehouse continue to sell more volume than specialist retailers, because they know how important a size curve is (I used to work at their Head Office.) But it isn't the manufacturer's responsibility to have stock in stores, it is the retailer that needs to buy a decent amount of stock. You as consumer can tell the shop owner that you are taking your business elsewhere when you can't try it on, but as long as there are enough low hanging fruit in the form of other sales, they won't bother too much.
  6. I don't agree. Shops need to buy into ranges, but they tend to buy one of this and two of thar and never have a decent size curve available. Then you walk in asking to try out a helmet or knee pads and then the reply is that they don't have stock but can order for you. Well you can order from Get Stoked yourself if you wanted to play Size Roulette. There are three shops close to me that stock Leatt kit, the difference is that these shops invested om stock. William's Bike Shop - Somerset West. Knipe Racing - Durbanville Specialized Stellenbosch had knee and elbow guards to go along with their home brand kit.
  7. handbrake applied? It seems to be stationary at an intersection.
  8. Mine is nearly two years old. Clasps are still fine. Never had an issue with the build quality. Haven't had to use it in self defense yet, so I can't comment on the safety aspect. It gets hot in there. So hot that I remove the chin bar for climbs, and have a second, better ventilated net al helmet for days where I don't use the chin bar. But even with the chin bar on it, it vents well enough on descents. I like leatt helmets, so I am biased, I have a convertible V3, and a V2.
  9. I reckon you should be safe as long as you don't go to that Edward guy with the sharp fingers. I'm on a diy binge today. Repainting the bike room, and going for a Helderberg ride this arvie. What are can go wrong?
  10. Has been done before, no one died.
  11. I do the lower leg and air can services myself, but then at 100hrs it goes to Stoke or RBC for a full service. By that time the damper oil has worked too hard, and fresh damper oil and fresh lowers oil means it rides a lot better. But maybe being a truck fleet owner and knowing how important regular services there is to longevity of my vehicles, means that I'm not snoep when it comes to a full suspension service. Also when you spend the equivalent of a set of carbon wheels on tyres for one axle on one truck, then the bike costs pale into insignificance.
  12. https://www.rapide.co.za/product/rapide-derailleur-hanger-extender/ I'll just leave this here.

  14. You can choose now. The red pill or the blue pill. One pill will make you addicted to data, and you can choose how deep down the rabbit hole you want to go. (Or how deep your pockets allow you to go.) The other pill will allow you to realise that you don't need any data and can ride for the fun of it. I can't tell you which is which, as I hats having a unit on the handlebar, but I like using strava to log rides afterwards. So I use a watch (polar) but I've ditched the heart rate strap. My next GPS will be one of the mid range Garmin watches with wrist based heart rate reading and the ability to store maps for navigation.
  15. Yeah no. As someone in a service industry, with my peak running higher than usual and my resources lower than usual, I'm calling BS on the we're to busy after Rona" excuse. People are just plain slapgat, and people are to willing to accept it. Side note: If it's a Giant item that has broken on your bike, then a Giant shop will need to deal with it, but I'd it's a shimano item (ie your brakes) then any shop with a coolheat account should be able to handle it as long as you send the invoice with the warranty claim.
  16. Shop B said they would do it on Tuesday afternoon, they didn't even have it done in Wednesday afternoon. If it was me, I'd go fetch it and take it to shop C and not look back. I waited a week to get a quote for a new helmet from a shop in our town. By the time they eventually sent me the quote, I'd already received a quote from a different shop and had the claim paid out. Helmet was bought elsewhere.
  17. Not really, the parts bin will be raided when my kids' bikes get built pretty soon. Yes I am a bit of a hoarder. Both are M525, Right hand side and FUBAR. That is why they were replaced.
  18. TBH I'm not riding a lot. And when I do it's mostly Helderberg. I reckon I have only been back in Jonkers about four times this year. If you are doing the Conties enduro I'll tag you in or out at one of the stages. I've skipped the groad vibe and went straight into trail running. Well more like trail (slow) jogging.
  19. Just a heads up. The Jonkershoek mountain challenge is on Sunday 8 Nov. Some trails will be closed, see below.
  20. Ensure you and your team mate agrees on expectations and fitness. It sucks if one member is chowing his handlebar for days while the other is out to hurt aforementioned rider. Same counts for post race festivities. Both of these are only applicable if you want to remain friends after the event.
  21. The last decent SA contender other than GM was Andrew Neethling. I don't think Theo has the drive (hunger) to make it as a racer. Edit: I reckon his drive is aimed at the freeride/fest series side of MTB.
  22. Pffft, you must have forgotten about Avid Juicy's, or that all elixirs needed a rebuild eventually, or the batch of Guides that needed warranty replacement after a hot Karoo day. There are great shimano brakes. There are crap shimano brakes. There are great Sram brakes. There are crap sram brakes. In my spares drawer I have two pairs of avid brakes that need a rebuild kit, two shimano levers that have died and been replaced, and a set of Tektros that have nothing wrong with them, other than being a million years old and being to weak for my liking.
