  1. Are you talking about these? My wife drinks this. But she is a coffee slut, she'll put any coffee in her mouth. "and it tastes as good as most machine coffee in my experience." I despair for your coffee drinking experience.
  2. Calling it an oversized syringe is like saying paying 500 bucks for a tubeless tyre is overpriced when you can buy a tyre from Game at 150zars. I can't remember what I paid for mine 8 years ago, but if I need to replace it now I'll do so at full price. Actually, I'll probably buy the more compact Aeropress Go.
  3. Hy is Snaakse Fanie, nie Vinnige Fanie nie.
  4. Indeed. Tomorrow it'll be Mozzarella, bacon, and caramelized onions. And maybe Feta.
  5. Reasonable is subjective no? Especially if you don't know the costs involved. I've had people ask me to do the same, and then their idea of reasonable wouldn't even cover my fixed cost for the service. (Specialised transport service.) So then they have to do it themselves or make a spoeg en plak plan.
  6. Nope. Dealer/shop floor IS the middleman. And if your LBS does not know what bearings your hub or frame needs, then you're going to the wrong shop. I've phoned Daryn (Williams Bike Shop) asking for Bearings for my frame. He told me straight up whether he had stock, and gave me options for cheaper ones, and told me where he wouldn't fit the cheaper bearings. And that is without the luxury of a computer based stock system, that is off his own experience. But hey, all shops are crap.... Edit: PS: Midas will probably have some parts cheaper than your local Ford. Might be Grey though....)
  7. I'm traditional. For me Espetada is beef.
  8. In your example the car dealer is the bike shop. Car dealerships are a business on their own. You are not buying it from the distributor, the dealership is buying it from the distributor and you can then fit it yourself. Do you really believe that you are not paying your local Fors/BMW/VW branch a mark-up when you pick up a filter? This is literally the same as you buying a hub through the lbs, who bought it from MarcHD and then building a wheel at home.
  9. No one said you can't DIY. Get Stoked will even sell you the tools through a local shop. (Post 19) The moan was because you have to pay the lbs their mark-up for the transaction. Well guess what? If you buy the tool through LBS, Agri or a tool distributor, you'll be paying mark-up. That is like moaning because you can't buy a Ford from Ford SA at the dealership cost price.
  10. Fortunately Wifey saw reason, so we have Espetada, Oepsies and a Braai Pie for tomorrow. Reckon I'll throw in some Wors to have as backup for late night Snacks. It would be the responsible thing to do.
  11. You need to meet Daryn Goldsborough at William's Bike shop. His tool obsession is worse than mine, and he sourced many obscure tools and parts for me in the past. He has also demonstrated/coached me on how to use these tools . I don't mind paying the markup that funds his salary. Another shining light is Heino Engelbrecht at The Hanger. I've worked in the industry, as mechanic, sales, management and on the import side of things I see your viewpoint, and that of Get Stoked. They need to protect the lbs that supports them, the lbs that holds stock of fast and slow moving parts and consumables. But you and I have the freedom to choose to support a shop that provides value, and eschew the shop that cause crap. Because there are still good shops out there.
  12. My brother and his wife has gone plant based recently. A whole box of Herbivore products arrived here yesterday. At first I thought it was the same as what you mentioned, but nope. Different site. Might be worth checking out. They bought mince and wors. I can't comment on the taste though, as I'm only the middleman with a freezer that holds it for them.
  13. Let me know how the new tensioner performs please? I reckon I should throw one in with my next rapide order.
  14. I have an old rapide Tensioner. rattly AF. I solved it by putting a washer in to act as a spacer between the tensioning arm and the bolt. You pull the circlip on the inside, pull the bolt out, insert washer, carefully put the spring back. Ride on in silence. Well relative silence, the wheel is a bit too noisy for my liking. Will replace that next. Thanks BaGearA. Like so.
  15. I think it's an Omnico thing. They are putting a lot of eggs in the Scalpel basket. But they are selling a lot of scalpels.... With the Habit they only have one model and GT is being done a disservice.
  16. I took one look at that landing and decided that the stump was a better idea.
  17. First time back in Eden after lockdown. Found a new feature. Fortunately the Grease Monkey is quick to whip out a camera when I want to do something like this.
  18. Slade Trail. The cable routing into the top tube is unique to them.
  19. I actually like the action that the couple of ripples brings into the shot. Baloo also loves water. In the middle of winter he'll by swimming in the sea. This is him yesterday pretending to be a submarine.
  20. He looks better now. Was cut way too short and the lady hurt him as well. He looked like a French poodle in drag. So I'll be looking for a new barber in a couple of months.
  21. I took Baloo to Helderberg yesterday. I think he may have enjoyed it more than I did.
  22. I opened the grinder up yesterday, and found that the pc board controller thingy has burned out. So I'm going to see if I can find a board like this, and plan B is to buy a prototyping board from RS Components and build one myself. Obviously I'll prefer the stock board, but I also like learning new skills.
  23. l Ooh what are you building up? I'd suggest a Spez Eliminator 2.6 up front. The 2,6 can be described as very ambitious. It's like a 2,4 in other brands. And spez grid has a good balance of weight vs robustness. Why not put one of the semi slick tyres on the back like a Spez Slaughter? I have an Assegaai, Aggressor, Onza Aquila and an Eliminator to chose from in the workshop. The Assegaai is heavy but very grippy. So it gets used for ewc races and shuttle days. My go to is aggressor at the back with the Eliminator up front, but with it being downhill to summer now I reckon a faster rolling tyre in the back is a good idea. Sideways is more fun anyway.
  24. Many years back a policeman managed to write off one of our Dyna trucks by wedging his corsa underneath it. We've never seen such a swift and big reaction to an incident.
  25. Those grapes grow on Helderberg. I can show them to you if yiu join us for a Friday board meeting. Have you bought the bike yet?
