Its a very general statement to make about roadies... usually the flick of the hand or tilt of the head is because the person is 20m away from u on the other side of the road... if you had to greet you would have a hoarse voice at the end of every ride.... its a lot easier when you are passing each other on a single track? I would say people greet as an acknowledgment of the sport… we all suffer together regardless? As for not helping, well shame on them if it was a training ride. In a race I guess its every man for himself at the sharp end of it, so if you don’t have your spares you are going to wait a while for the people who ride for fun an scenery.

Holy ****... i was right behind the younger guy (1st crash victim) who crashed and almost came off myself as we skidded on the planks to avoid him. Then 500m later the next chap in front of me hit a rock and took a tumble and dislocated his sholder.... sounds like that area was a war zone of injured people?

Think they should have removed more than just the A7 & A8 If they bothered to check, then A5 and higher were taking the "short-cut"

I came 19th in A1, but 37th overall... no way anyone in the latter groups managed those sort of times!! Looking at the winners times in groups A2 to A4 they were all slower and then suddenly A5 to A8 have super fast times. I personally feel if you have been diverted at the 1/2 way mark, DONT cross the finish line. You know you havnt ridden the distance and regardless of whether its a fun ride or not it just causes problems in the end!! Apparently Max K is getting over a virus so just took its easy....

Have a payback clause in the contract. If you dope your pay back all money paid by your sponsor, and any earnings won in any race. Banning for life etc, doesnt really have a material impact, however if your bank account is at risk, then thats a different story? I do however believe there needs to be a statute of limitations on the timeline. No point testing results from more than 10 years back because by then peoples careers tend to be over and new careers established. Also you may have inadvertantly taken something which becomes banned and later down the line have to pay for it BIG time?

Wonder if the elbow guards helped hide the pin marks, and will they cushion the fall from grace???

Bit of a highjack on here I went on a bike trip in the Delta.... had a leopard close to the camp one morning... bike ride postponed for a while

Always heard there are leopards in the Magaliesberg... has anyone ever seen one or caught one on a trigger camera?

There was a story in the Ride Mag a few years ago about a cyclist being chased by a leopard in the Knysna forest.... makes you wonder how often you ride past an animal like that without noticing?

Seems like the only solution is to remove the horn if you want the animal to live. Then flood the market with the horns and get the price to drop. The lure of $ is just to great, for those who do it and those who pass it on. Catch one poacher and they will be replaced the next day.
