Agree. People always bash road bike riders for their attitudes and yet i'm hearing more and more often about how unfriendly and aggressive mtb riders have become. Maybe its because the roadies are becoming mounties, but either way its pretty pathetic when it gets to a point of putting someone in hospital over who has right of way on a trail?

I believe the guy assaulted was in pretty bad nick. Nothing like a little right hook from behind to start the day?

I believe a mtb rider was assaulted by another rider today on the Spruit at the bridge near Parkmore. As the guy crossed it, a female cyclist from the other side coming toward him hit him as he passed her. He turned to ask her what the problem was when her boyfriend assaulted the guy presumably from behind. Details are pretty sketchy, but I believe the guy doing the assaulting had tattoo's on his arm.... anyone else know what happened and who was involoved?

Thats fairly close to that informal settlement area? Seems like any route in the nearby vacinity to these types of places is a hotspot, eg, Northern Farms and Diepsloot & Thembisa and Midrand. Means that our riding areas are becoming few and far between!!

Goody bags and medals are a waste (useless stuff and invariably the medals get thrown away). Rather give it to a worthy cause, and i dont mean the organisers pockets!!

Good race until the final climb... dropped off the front group of 8 guys 1/2 way up so missed the sprint finish. I have issues with that climb!!!

Its not the last climb that causes all the trouble... its all the lack of training before that!!! :cursing: :eek:

What group did you ride in? There was a guy who started in VB but he didnt last very long... beautiful looking bike i must say!!

Well if its anything to go by, Championchip timed the Sungardens race and had the imes up withing a few hours of the Elites finishing. I would say thats pretty good? Some other timing companies take days.... especially in MTB events.

A mate had it done and it worked for a while until he started eating more... now he is just as large as prior to the operation. Rather go about it by spending time doing an aerobic exercise and eating well. The benefits are far higher in the end... always remember there are no shortcuts??

Just ride the routes around Krugersdorp. They are as steep, if not more so, and have easy access.

To the guy who helped shorten my chain to a single speed, thanks very much. To the organisers who left 20 foot of electric fence on the track just after the lion cage climb thanks for helping destroy my derailer.... let me say that if i hadnt taken it to the side after if was caught up in it, then more riders would have been in my situation. good thing i was up with the front guys!!! I havent done this race for a few years, and the route has been changed considerably since then. Cant say I enjoyed having to wait at the water crossings and the cliff sections. We rode hard to get there in a break, and that was all nulified by stopping. Same applies for when the race met up with the shorter distances. Have to agree with rattlesnake that it defeats the object of working hard in a race to have it all undone by waiting....

Nope, he just said its his 'first' mtb... not a brand new one. Just hard to understand how a league rider wouldnt have a proper setup done. Its the first thing any cyclist should have done.... just ask Dangle... wait he lost his mind in his BIKESHOP
