  1. What length is your new crank? If you have changed the length then thats probably the cause. If this is the case, have a full setup done again as your knee angle will be significantly different. With regards to cleats, it will only make a difference if you are using new pedals? I highly doubt a 32 will cause the problem... a 32/42 ratio is pretty close to a 28/36 on a 10x2.
  2. She doesnt look like she even stopped....
  3. Off strava on the new Edge 810 05/25/2013 Bojanala, South Africa, NW, South Africa 75.4km 1717m
  4. I havent seen this before but the organisers DQ'ed a guy for using earphones... Good thing considering the techical aspect of the race could result in problems if you cant hear whats happening around you?
  5. Just a quick thank you to Neil Evans for all the work he does maintaining the route along the Spruit. This afternoon he was filling in concrete to make the river crossing near the field and study centre safe and ridable. Its people like him who take time out of their lives to make our rides more enjoyable who deserve some mighty praise.... thanks Neilo
  6. Geez, arent you just full of nice things to say... and optimistic???
  7. So if you train on a busy road its frowned upon? Did they break any laws? They were in single file, wearing helmets and I presume on the left side of the road. Sounds to me like they were trying to be responsible & staying visual. It just so happened that the route traversed the bends, and for that they are tjops? Oh boy!!
  8. Seriously?? You have a problem with a scooter trailing a cyclist on a busy road? Unless they were in the middle causing havoc, whats the issue?
  9. Here is the live link http://www.dakar.com/index_DAKus.html
  10. He is currently lying second, 2:38 behind Peterhansel. Another of SA's finest sportsmen who is an avid mountain biker, and is driving in memory of Burry!!
  11. Its a beautiful animal
  12. I agree that jumping the red robot is a big no-no, however whats the problem with having your service vehicle behind you? Just another slow driver like any in traffic... sounds to me like a lot of people pointing fingers at the moment.... general consideration for fellow traffic users is what is needed. Obey the law, and wait a few seconds. Its not a race for bicycles or cars?
  13. Carla Swart 2 years ago, and now Burry... I hope they are both finally "Riding in Peace"
  14. What a sad day for his family and the cycling community. Cant imagine the Epic without the crouched over posture of Burry in the front!! My condolences to his family and everyone who knew him....
  15. HT 29er... the extra volume in the wheels makes it a marginally easier ride than the 26er. On very bumpy rides you cant compete against the DS, however the weight benefit of a HT does often more than compensate. So the question is, do you ride very bumpy technical routes, or your average route like we have here in Gauteng? I personally have had both the s-works Epic, and Stumpjumper, and went straight bacck to the HT and sold the DS. Just preferred the responsiveness of the climbing, and the technical stuff isnt an issue for me.
  16. Opposite the hotel there is a good route upto Lake William, and then below baboon rock. Here is a link to my Strava site if you want a better idea... except i stopped at the gate at the top of Mike's Pass http://app.strava.com/rides/18036425#329222687 If you continue through the gate and past the old burnt out house, there is a circular route going left... just zoom in a little to get a better idea... its fairly technical with plenty a loose shale type rocks, and will take you a fair while. Also you get a ver remote feeling when riding up there so i would advise going with a partner.
  17. Hi ASG... what was the end result of your 94.7 auction? Just curious as i did have a bid on the mtb... was also wondering how the road bike auctions went?
  18. Is there a 6 hour event again this year?
  19. Get a titanium sprint and insert into the back shock... keeps it stiff as a hardtail, but if its a big hit will give marginally so the joins dont break.
  20. Were there any injuries? I would have thought that in conditions like that, that the rocky decents would have been ver dangerous
  21. With that downpour just before 7 i called it a day.... no point wrecking groupsets?? Looked liked u boys were carbo loading nicely and i agree that was a far better alternative in the end
  22. Is this a racetec timed event or a Spectrum Timing?
  23. No brainer then.... hey its a global market now days... i say import if its worth it
  24. Geez, by the sounds of it mtb riders are more unfriendly than ANYone else. People threatening to tazzer a guy, no acknowledgment to a greeting.... Think ill take up cagefighting. At least they shake hands after clobbering each other!!!
