  1. Profile hasnt changed much over the years
  2. I got vertigo and that horrible feeling deep down just watching the video of him riding on the ridge line... he is just insane and unbelievable all at once!!!
  3. Whatever happened to the VIP entries? I used to get a mail saying my spot was reserved for a certain amount of time failing which it would be given up to the waiting list...
  4. So the person whoever they were, was trying to offload a bike worth, in my guesstimate, in excess of R100k at a Flea-market??? WTF!!!
  5. Did you leave ur contact details at reception? Good chance the person may not be a HUBBER?

If what i read was correct, he was doing the 25km race when someone doing the 50km race passed and pushed him off.... I have to agree with some comments that IF whoever did this ever gets found out that he should face the full extent of the parents wrath... civil & criminal liability.... make him pay for a very very long time!!!
  7. Its all relative... save some weight on the frame and the effects are not huge besides what the article points out... save it on the wheels and th discussion changes a little!! read http://pardo.net/bik...-027/index.html to get a better idea of what saving weight on the right parts of the bike can do. Even better check http://bikecalculator.com/ and enter the variables to see the time difference weight makes. Here you can enter 0 gradient, but add the elevation gain for the course to see the difference.... amazing the time difference changing to tubbies vs clinchers makes!!
  8. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/za/en/easton-ea90-rt-wheelset-dura-ace-freehub-2013/rp-prod119824 R12100 set of wheels discounted to R4900
  9. Look s-track are very smooth pedals, however the rock protectors break easily, and the spindle is easy to bend... I had 2 sets and neither lasted more than 6 months (weigh 85kg) Time atac pedals are very good. I found the cheaper ones to be better than the carbon as they dont have as much movement... Shimano SPDR pedals in general are the bomb... XT is better value for money here than XTR and more durable.... however do weigh a lot more than the other makes like LOOK so if u are a weight wheeny, look elsewhere.
  10. If you are a licensed rider (day license applies here as well) you have to apply for a medical exemption for certain things like asthma and heart condition medication. If you dont and get caught, well then tough luck, you get banned. So something similar to Brandon Stewart who had low testosterone and started taking the injections. He didnt have official written approval from CSA... banned. Its a doff rule for day license riders!! I guess its a case of where do they draw the line? Asthma pumps can be used to improve breathing and let me tell you, guys in A cat are just as willing to use stuff to help them win as are guys in VA, so ultimately a blanket rule is all they are willing to apply?
  11. I find it amazing how many people try to condone the use of banned supplements for any rider regardless of whom they are. It’s the middle of the pack guys who are most at risk of the adverse effects of drugs. Imagine the stress on your heart if you are overweight and at 100% of your HR max? Heart attack waiting to happen!! For all riders regardless of who you are, testing is to stop you from cheating, and for your own health benefits.
  12. Chat to the guys at Chainworx ... they do group rides for mtb and road
  13. Yet another "E-Toll"... they say nothing is for free but JHb is taking that a little 2 seriously now!!!
  14. Trailseeker was the hardest race I did last year (harder than the Monster in my opinion), so I cant imagine how hard the Ultra is going to be!!! The 75km route is a proper test of MTB, but also a really great ride.
  15. Almost an Ultra Marathon at 82km?
  16. Honesty i guess... but also why would you go to all the effort of entering Sani2c just to cheat? You would be cheating yourself more than anything. Lets face it, the top guys are all monitored by officials at points in the race, so if you think taking a cheat route will help, you are very likely to get get found out (the top contenders know who is in front and the team chasing). Added to that i think that the whole thing is more about the ride than actually winning it for 99.99% of the riders. So rather enjoy it and the route. Thats what Sani is all about in the end?
  17. LOL.... I agree 100%... but some fool is going to follow the alternate line, crack a skull and try blame the people who put it there.... hence my "whatever u do dont put your name to the good work: comment. There is always someone who wants to blame someone else on the Spruit.
  18. Its great that these sort of jumps/trails get made, however considering its the Spruit, and you have people riding it without knowing what to expect besides some flat trails, the jumps with gaps in them are in all likelyhood going to cause some damage along the way. Remember people dont sign indemnity forms etc to ride the Spruit, hence the lawsuit that was laid against the seesaw bridge and their sponsors. So whatever you do, dont put your name on anything, and if you can, make the dangers of the jump as visable as possible.
  19. the XX1 ratio for the casette is 10-12-14-16-18-21-24-28-32-36-42... with 34 front i doubt there is much you will miss compared to a 2X10
  20. S2S is like a road race with only 2 really steep climbs (1 on day 2 and 1 on day 3). I rode a 36 blade in the front and managed to get up both, albeit with some hard pushing. Your standard setup of 34 in the front will be perfect if you have the ability you say you do. The 34x42 is more than enough to get up the new "push of a climb" on day 2 and the climb after Sloth on day 3. Also the 34X10 wont have you spinning out to early on the fast downhills. Believe me when i say the XX1 is without doubt the best way to go. Day 2 tends be really muddy, and if conditions are anything like last year you will likely get chain suck. That doesnt happen with the XX1.
  21. http://www.gumtree.co.za/a-sports-bicycles-fitness/stellenbosch/pinarello-dogma-65-1-think-54-non-authentic/1001107746410910191316709 Fake bike = R26k on Gumtree.... Thats R64k profit to CS!!!
  22. In future just buy one of those Gumtree bikes from "Andrew" in "George"... either way u are going to get screwed??
  23. Probably only pay the "right" price then?
  24. Also dont feel like reading all 35 pages... has there been a mention of the price paid? As a general rule of thumb you will know if its a fake given the price difference.
  25. What happened? You say its a contractors fault?
