    Ride for Sight

Anyone know if the guy in VB who crashed on the last left bend into the stadium was okay?

    Ride for Sight

Very well organized race. The marshal/policeman looking after VB did an outstanding job My only criticism is the final left bend going into the sprint finish wasn't swept and we had a guy crash heavily there... he skidded badly and smashed into the pavement which disrupted the last 500m sprint.... hope he is okay because it looked really bad!!
  7. this doesnt make any sense at all... ridden the past two R4S in 2.51 and 2.58 and i'm seeded in LL?? WTF?
  8. What is happening to the Concept Stores then? Do i hear the "For Sale" signs being put out on all their stock or will Specialized just buy it back?
  9. I have had all three sets... American classic rims to soft for a heavier guy. Mavics are tough as nails and the rim and spokes you cant fault for strength although they are slightly heavier, but the hub freebody does give problems. Fulcrum are pretty much between these two. I must agree with most on here that building wheels is much better. Hope hubs, DT swiss spokes and ZTR rims are my current and they are better that the other 3 sets.
  10. http://www.iol.co.za...years-1.1228174 So Andy gets his TdF victory in the end?
  11. Where can i get hold of this kit? Is it open for purchase by the man on the street or it a special club kit?
  12. Nitrogen gas is used in Tour de France bike tyres. The key benefits are a slower rate of pressure loss and cooler running temperature of tyres. The molecular structure of nitrogen differs from that of air, in such a way that it escapes through the tyre’s inner liner or tube at a slower rate than regular compressed air. The result is a dramatically slower rate of pressure loss in a tyre filled with nitrogen. For example, it might take up to six months to lose 0.14kpa with nitrogen, compared to just one month with compressed air. As tyres heat up, their inflation pressure increases, which then reduces the size of the tyre’s footprint the tyre then loses grip because of this smaller footprint. So the cooler they run the better the tyres will grip the road.
  13. I dont think its that easy. I stand to be corrected but the race office will have a list that is used for substitutions. Maybe you should enquire first.
  14. Pretty sure i'm right in that the lightest "racing" bike needs to be 6.8kg according to UCI rules. Just use that as the guideline against your measurement. If ur bike is 8kg, its cheaper to drop the body weight, more fun and i guess the morally correct thing to do? Other just pay it away.... not going to help on the big climbs if your bike weighs 8kg or 5kg... rather train harder and drop the weight!!!
  15. Its all very exciting until we hear of an accident (eg. hit a pothole that you didnt/couldnt possibly see and because you are riding in the traffic lane and fall off the car/truck behind you that is "showing u so much resppect now" hits you) and then the driver gets blamed and faces charges of calpable homicide etc. We all know the rules of the road, and if we stick to them there will be fewer fatalities. If you want to motor pace, find a mate to drive in front of you on a quiet road... stay away from vehicles who have no clue you are behind them.
  16. Currently have the Shimano XTR 2X10 - 44/30T Front & 11-36T rear (the 30/36 combo is almost as good as a granny)... found it much easier to change into a sharp incline and more efficient... and i seldom spin out with the 44/11
  17. Nope, i got your point 100%. The point i was making is that even though you have more ratio's on offer, the likelyhood you will use all of them is pretty low. Pretty sure you will only use close to 20 in the end anyway.
  18. The ratios are pretty close, and its likely that you wont use all 30 with the 3X10 anyhow. Not knocking it as they all have their place... similar to the 26er vs 29er arguement? In the end its which you prefer/utilise better? Personally i agree with Dangle, in that the 2x10 has made my riding more efficient and if i need another gear, walking may well be faster.
  19. Are solo entries out of the question?
  20. Does anyone have a picture of the start of A2. I need my board number to query a result
  21. try Due South... i think they are the agents in SA
  22. Both clubs are similar ito riding route, support, kit etc. Cycle Lab has the extra benefit of the store, and a dsicount on purchases... not sure if Club 100 has a similar arrangement with anyone. Either way riding with a bunch offers improved riding skills, and safety in numbers. Also if u are a mtb fan its very worthwhile...
  23. Someone should tell the leopard to stop playing with its food... bad manners
  24. How does "47" make u feel better?
  25. If you upgrade 1 piece of the bike at a time, they dont really pay attention. Its when u suddenly have 3 bikes rather than 2 tat u get into deep trouble. Go with the "do you want me to look like all the other lazy people" story, that sometimes works.
