  1. Is KE being used to promote the event? If he offers advise and you take it, how is the event at fault, and why is it a problem to use his past exprience as a training method? Didnt he say he had no plans to race again and was going to promote cycling, which is why he didnt try to defend the allegations?
  2. This is all good and well, but to what end does this serve a purpose? What exactly would you do? Are you going to boycott the race post the event if someone is back racing (you are only likely to find out about it afterward)? You can also not be seen to discriminate / slander someone or an event? Finally my question is if someone is riding a race you loved for example, would you cancel your entry? My feeling is I race for the competitive nature of the sport. If I get a good result I'll be extra chuffed, and if i'm outside the top spots I'll be a little fitter....
  3. Tweaking a design is a yearly thing... and angle here or there etc etc... I am more making the point of what new lightweight materials the R&D dept are testing? Any newage metals or composites where you could say "okay paying substantially more than last year will make a massive difference".
  4. I dont see any bias coming through there? ;-)
  5. Same old same old .... I would love to see something really novel come out. So all thats happening now is a change of colour, and the inverted shock (3 years old already), and for that they charge a fortune? For the prices being paid, you would expect some super-new spaceage materials?
  6. Just comparing Bora Ultra's to lightweight climbing wheels
  7. If her ban is until end of 2015 then what's the point? Sentence supposedly served and away she goes or am I missing something?
  8. pick me, pick me... pllleeeaasssee
  9. Although i do agree that harsh punishments are not unwarrented for PRO cyclists, what do you suggest for the recreational cyclist who gets caught for something banned? They arent there making a living of the sport, dont take away sponsorships and sometimes are unaware off the banned list. Hence the problem overall. Once you set a precident, it needs to be applied equally across the board. So servere punishments are givene, but jail time is maybe a stretch to far?
  10. Just seems to me like SAIDS has upped the anti, and a LOT of people are being caught out where in the past they got away with it... I think kudo's to SAIDS for pushing for all sports to be clean. Its not an easy battle!!
  11. Cycling South Africa reports that the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) has charged mountain bike cyclist, Kevin Evans with doping after identifying serious irregularities in his Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) – a profile of the athlete’s blood parameters. Click here to view the article
  12. What makes my blood boil is that the cycling industry is so big, with people buying bicycles for ridiculous amaounts of money, and yet sponsorships are dissapearing fast. I can understand that media / TV sponsorships arent in the league of soccer, golf & F1, but then whats happening to all the cash people spend on equipment? Why not reinvest in the sport? I think the manufacturers are getting greedy!!
  13. You get 3 types of frames, being a hard tail, soft tail and dual suspension. the difference between ST and DS is that there is no pivot point near the BB on a soft tail (see picture to see). Usually just a spring plate. The DS has a pivot point there A HT is self explanitory?
  14. He is answering this number 0731901005
  15. They said they appreciate the feedback, but that was after all the complaints about their products being put on an entry ... I am on the opposite spectrum in that I like to see whats new and special... within reason of course so the 1 page was worth a scan
  16. Really? Is one page of ASG goods for sale a problem? Come on... it took all of 1 second to glace at it and deceide whether there was anything and then move to the next page. Aside from that I'm looking fwd to the race... have a bone to pick with Hekpoordt
  17. Its a good thing that something is being done, but then you have to question, how is it possible that he will spend more time behind bars than Oscar?
  18. In the Elite race..... ummm i dont think i qualify for that one. Nice way for them to try get people like the top pro's of SA to compete and not pay the full price for them!!! (If i read correctly, they are only sponsoring Max Knox to go) Just the flight is more costly than the top award.
  19. :-( .... I want a 2 day entry if anyone is selling
  20. If the comrades cost 3 times the current price, would they have the size field they do? Dont think so regardless of whether you could or could not do it.
  21. You can "ride" any race, be it the epic, sani or BC. I agree with you 100% that the EPIC is the pinnacle of mtb stage races, but as someone so rightfully put it in an earlier post, its not a case of "I came 50th in the EPIC" anymore, but more a case of I could afford to do it.... What i would love to see is the SA contingent vs foreign over the life of the EPIC. That will give a clear picture of the trend?
  22. Question is which entry is harder to get hold of? Consider the fact that Sani runs 3 races, its clear to see that there is a tipping point for local riders, and i think EPIC may be very near it... look at the Munga... massive prize money but with a $10,000 entry it was always going to struggle.
  23. Using a Local is Lekker comparison Sani2c = 265km 3 days, R44.52 per km, R3933 per day (2015 entry price =R11800)
  24. R60k is just the start of the overall cost. I keep saying its on my bucket list, but when i see the price and compare it to Sani, 3 Towers, PE-Plett etc, etc, it keeps slipping further down that list. But i'm not knocking it, and all the best to the organizers for doing such an awesome job ever year. The marketing and branding of the EPIC is untouchable, and its what I believe attracts a full field. I just think it may be nearing the tipping point for SA cyclists... at 12.25 / $ you might soon have a field full of foreign riders and only a handful of sponsored "ABSA" riders?
  25. Cavendish was just trying to avoid being caught up in any accidents. Imagine being involved in a crash in a sprint and forfeit the glory on Tour d'France victories. Not taking anything away from Nolan, and I think he is an awesome champion and sprinter, but I would loved to have seen a proper sprint between him and Cavendish, from 500m out without a traffic circle just before that.
