  1. In Afrikaans the current place for souls is called "Doderyk".There isn't much in the Bible that discribes this place, but in the Parable of Lazarus and the selfish rich man, when the rich man died he went to a place adjacent to where Lazarus went. The rich man plead for water from Lazarus and wanted to go back to the living to warn his brothers. So it appears they are separated, but it ain't exactly Hell there now. The other example follows tomorrow.
  2. That is probably because you read nowhere that the Hell already exists. Hell will have it's 1st tenants only after the final judgement.
  3. Just before Jesus' ascension He told His deciples that He has to go to prepare a place for us at the house of His Father (Jewish tradition had it that the son would build a place for him and his wife onto the existing house of his father). Not clear where this is.He also told them that He would send The Holy Spirit as comforter until His return. I for one believe in the rapture. I get goosebumps when I think of the day I will meet my Maker! I truly believe that I may be fortunate enough that this day will happen in my lifetime (no, probably not 21 May though ) Note that not all Christians believe that there will be a rapture.
  4. I have the Aerozine SL A3 and find nothing wrong with it, in fact I recommend it. The ceramic bearing is tops and outlasts Shimano 3 times. It does not have the wow factor though, but at ± the same price as XT its a steal! Replacement chainrings is also less than 1/2 of XT. Go for it!
  5. Assume and assumption both starts with the word ass. Nuff said. Oh, and its about 70km by road.
  6. Are you serious! Who do you think picks up the bill at the end of the day? Thus less money for education, healthcare, etc and more in the pocket of the taxi owner!
  7. Dis die interval training wat my die edge gee!
  8. There will be 18 of us Heidelberg boytjies and girlies doing it! Can't wait. Craig Wapnic (Joberg2c farm)is super excited about the route. The shuttle service is R60 and the school raise funds by charging R60 to take your car to Reitz (no, the parents will drive them, not the kids!). Apparantly the Bielie Mielie festival is not to be missed either.
  9. Ja, jy kry 'n LUST. Was op special vir R350 onlangs
  10. Friend of mine bought a brand new bike from his LBS and had the same complaint. I checked it and for the life of me could not ride it hands free. On closer inspection we discovered the LBS buggered up the aheadset assembly and hence there was some play which caused the steerer tube to move ever so slightly from side to side, making it impossible to keep a straight line. Perfect now.
  11. Also did it and loved it! Something about running in the dark that makes you go on and on and on. Also cracked a top 20. 2nd run this year, but will try to run once every week from now and try not to miss the other Kineticgear trail run events. Will do as many of the adventure races as possible as well. The 24hr fullmoon at Vaaldam was the race I enjoyed most, even as much as Karkloof mtb classic.
  12. I mean human race will not get extinct in a once off catastrophy. A multitude of catastropies are prophised in the book of Revelations, but it will not cauase human extinction.
  13. My interpretation on escatology (study of end times according to Biblical prophecies) is that the world will not end. Yes, I believe in the rapture and the 2nd return of Christ and the final battle of Armageddon 7 years after the rapture and the 1000 of peace that will follow that. I also believe earthquakes, floods and other natural disasters will increase (and already is if you look at stats and the news!) as we get closer to the rapture; but I certainly do not believe the world will END.
  14. Keep in mind that delamination usually doesn't happen overnight. Should you remove your tire that had Stans in, put it in storage and then re-use months afterwards, chances of delamination (in any make) increases dramatically. If you insist on Stans, put a tire of your choise on (as long as you do not choose Kenda UST) and ride it till it is gedaan and remember to put fresh Stans in every month or 2.
  15. Bontrager's 29-3 Team and XDX are also available in TLR (Tubeless ready). Not sure if they are UST, but they have a thick sidewall. They roll well and are "light". Front specific 2.25 at 730g and rear 2.0 at 600g. You will also love the Geax Suguaro 29" TNT. Love these on my 26" and available in TNT as well for 29". They are hard wearing in the middle with soft compount grippy outer knobs.
  16. Then: Gary Fisher, Keith Bontrager, Tom Ritchey Stumpjumer The German dude who invented pilates Now: Nissan, MTN, Subaru Farmer Glen, Craig Wapnick, Gary Green, Kevin Vermaak, Fritz Pienaar, Eric Van Gaalen 29ers and tubeless tires Personally: Kevin Evans, Barry Stander (inspires) Renzo Pellizon (patiently showing me the ropes) My wife who loves the sport as much as I do. You?
  17. Just did the opposite. Went from years on a 26" boing-boing to a 29" hardtail. Suppose there is a time and place for both, but I am truly surprised at how smooth the hardtail is, almost like a 26" softail.
  18. Anyone knows if a SRAM 9 speed quick link will work on the new Shimano 10 speed mtb chains or what the other on-trail options to fix the 10 speed chain is? Thanx
  19. Cracked one too. Same place. Seriously, who keeps all the slips of all their bike spare purchases?
  20. Hey, KEEP YOUR LINE @##^%!! Whose line is it anyway?
  21. Makes sense. Are you Dr Phil?
  22. Wanted to bring this up before. When I started mtb (not from a roady background), the thing that I enjoyed most was the people I rode with, suffering like me, making jokes, helping where they could and generally just having a ball. Six years later and the vibe totally changed, although I must admit I am slightly further up the field with some guys taking it very seriously. It is heartbreaking. It is like the sport grew to fast and there are not enough old timers proportional for the new guys to learn from. ...or maybe it is because so many road riders started mtb
  23. What does these go for in UST these days? Thought of checking them out myself, but worried about durability and price.
  24. For me there is only one choice these days: Geax Barro Mountain TNT. Surprisingly low rolling resistance, gripy in corners, verrrrry durable even on tar and it's light. Great in all conditions although obviously not a mud specific tyre. Imo the Saguaro has even lower running resistance and that for a larger volume tyre, but not as grippy in the corners as the Barro. Happy shopping.
  25. Problem is often that the tire doesn't bead properly. Some tires harder to fit on certain rims than others. Most tires has an indication ring about 3mm from the rim edge. See if the ring is the same distance from the rim right around. Soap it up and pump it up to the tire max recommendation pressure and check again. If it is still not true, pump it some more if it is still not right(sweat pouring from every pore at theis stage). You may hear a loud POP and calling me names at this point, but it should hopefully only be the bead popping in correctly.
