  1. Thanks for the info. Maybe a change in plan is needed. Use the nails to assemble the visible panels with glue and then to use screws for the rest. On the other hand, I might just use pineply and screws to assemble all the carcasses and then just glue a piece of 6mm beechply to the end piece that is exposed... If the construction turns out OK I may be inclined to build the drawers from beech ply as well....
  2. Just for the assembly of the carcasses. As mentioned, This isn't going to be cabinetry level stuff. Basically 4 boxes. One with two pot drawers on those steel ball bearing sliders, an oven unit, a storage cupboard and a set of drawers. My experience with dowels etc is very limited...
  3. A question about nail guns.... Our new house is in need of some simple cupboards in the kitchen and study. Kitchen cupboards will include a set of pot drawers, an under counter oven unit, a storage cupboard and a set of drawers if there is space. At this point in time the budget allows me to make up the cupboard carcass from 15mm beech ply for the exposed bits and pine ply for the internal bits. Doors will be CNC routed by a mate to match existing. Study cupboards and work tops will probably be melamine I have seen guys using nail guns to assemble and it makes a load of sense so I decided to get a nail gun but I need help with what type? Brad nailer or Finish nailer and then do you go with 16Ga or 18Ga nails? For cupboards I am inclined to stick with 2" nails After some Internet research, my head is telling me a Brad nailer with F Type 18Ga 2" nails.... Please enlighten me. What do you real wood working gurus use?
  4. I am about to follow in your footsteps... We take occupation on the 3rd April. My workshop/garage space has been halved.... I am trying to figure out where to put everything with the most efficient use of space. After much deliberation it has been decided that the cars will get a new home under a carport that will be erected, and all tools and equipment along with motorbikes, bicycles and storage will be assigned to the garage toy shop. Thank goodness for CAD... Been playing around with layouts but at the end of the day I think I am going to have to just sit and look for a bit and then decide!
  5. How fine do you set your grind?
  6. Can also be a worm hole that you may struggle to get back out of.....

There was a happy hour trifecta all in a row around there. Monks from 6-7, Med from 7-8 and then Pig and Whistle from 7:30 - 8:30. After that you went to the Med and rocked out till the early hours of the morning, finishing the night off with a 1/4 beans from MacDougal's takeaway in West Street

I did my apprenticeship at Unilever in the early 90's. Lunch "hour" was 45 minutes. We used to sneak to the change rooms a couple minutes early to get changed. Clock at 12pm sharp, race to the Winston, order a jug, steak egg and chips, watch a show or two, inhale the food and beer and then haul ass back to Maydon Wharf to be back on site by 12:45pm!

Joe Cools on the Durban Promenade in the 90's. Many a litre was consumed there on a weekend! Jugs of beer at the Berea Inn after tech during the week (should have spent more time at the afternoon tutorials instead....) Lunchtime at the Winston. Student night at Sand Pebbles on a Tuesday night. That little underground place called Ruby Tuesday close to LTP. Ports was another beachfront club. The Scrapyard, CC's... So many memories!

We did both. Saw many a dive off the speaker stacks at the Rift. That little "Restaurant" opposite the Belgica was very popular as well. Through the restaurant at the back was the bar. Thy sold a double and a mix for R2 during happy hour. Think it was called Gradwell's

There is a good chance hey! With all those quarts and the herbs... the chances of recalling those memories however are slim...

True story. Many memories lost there as well. Drinking Quarts and playing pool with the short stick at Sportsman's, Colin D introducing the same chick every week from a different part of the world on men's night, Partying hard upstairs at Robert E Lees, Slippers downstairs to chill at the end of the evening and getting kicked out of the beer garden in the early hours of the morning. What a well spent youth we had.... I wonder if they were able to get the smell out before letting the old folks in.....?
