  1. Pros and cons to using both. For general road and commuting use a std transmission chain would work fine albeit with a bit more maintenance. However if you do any gravel travel or off road excursions, o-ring might be a better purchase. Found these interesting reading: https://www.fixyourdirtbike.com/tips/maintenance/o-ring-chain-vs-roller-chain/ https://www.motosport.com/blog/o-ring-chain-vs-non-o-ring
  2. I haven't had to wait longer than two weeks for parts from Alfie Cox Racing. KTM Durban are also not too bad with most items ex stock and on service items (oil filters), KTM are actually cheaper that Startline...
  3. Don't listen to the worm. Seldom does a positive comment escape his lips.... Take one for a test ride. Try ride a few options back to back and compare them (just remember to compare apples with apples). As with any mark, you sometimes get unlucky. With a new bike you shouldn't have any issues that the warranty won't cover. Obviously the further away from the original purchase date you decide to venture, the risk is proportional. Bike spares are expensive when things go wrong. There isn't a lot of difference between part prices between the German/Austrian/Japanese bikes (Know of a KTM cylinder head that cracked and a replacement head wasn't that much more expensive than a Yamaha head). There are pros and cons for sure between owning each one but at the end of the day it's a trade off I suppose. Happy browsing!!
  4. Isn't that LEXX's weapon of choice? Colleague at work commutes on one. I can't recall ever seeing him arrive at work grumpy...
  5. This movie went right back to the beginning of Free style. McGrath and Emig free riding in the dunes and meeting Seth Enslow, Travis as a 13 year old kid when he met McGrath, Emig and Seth Enslow in Florida, Travis jumping into teh Bay at X-Games, Hart attempting the first backflip, Metzger flipping ramp to ramp in competition, the beginnings of Crusty as well as where they all are now, Metal Mulisha and right up to today with teh first triple backflip at Travis' house. Really was a great watch if you are into the FMX scene Edit: Available on Netflix
  6. Watched some good stuff this weekend. Billionaire Boys Club which was quite entertaining and Unchained: The untold story of Freestyle Motocross. These guys are just at a different level...
  7. I really like this one that was on Grand Designs http://www.seymoursmith.co.uk/underhill-psv.php

    Who remembers?

As long as it is leaking oil you know that it still has oil...
  9. Finishing Designated Survivor S01 tonight. Looking forward to S02. Really enjoying Netflix. Every time we log in there is more new content!! I am never going to run out of stuff to watch. Watched Deathgrip last night with Brendog Loads of sports docs to get through as well
  10. I went for a ride on my own a while back (in hindsight it was a dumb idea) and I went a bit off the beaten track. Decided to turn around before I got into trouble. While turning around, I lost my footing and dropped the 640. It fell downhill.... Although the slope wasn't too bad, I almost ruptured my intestines trying to get that b!tch upright again..... Lesson learned! Pavement rides are cool on your own, anything involving dirt, it's a good idea to take a mate along.
  11. Wow that's a lot of stuff!! That road book holder for the 640 was an aftermarket item to hold an actual road book but guys use it to attach GPS and phone mounts. Bit easier buying one than hashng together a Pooratech mount from leftovers I suppose. My journey was always going to be budget adventure. Doubt I'll ever swing my leg over a new 1090...
  12. It is indeed. I think that there is a fair amount of "damping" through the mount itself as it isn't 100% rigid. There is a little bit of flex in the plastic GoPro arms and there is 3M tape attaching the mount to the shroud as well as to the phone case. I think ultimately I would probably look at making up a road book holder to mount the phone. Something like this one http://jrozar.smugmug.com/Other/KTM-640-Adventure/i-ZCS65Mt/0/L/KTM%20640%20Cockpit-L.jpg
  13. Just fall in line. Take you docs, your phone and some tunes. It goes quickly. Total time for us was about 2hrs including the queue that was wrapped around the parking lot. They were issuing numbers outside in the parking lot [emoji106]
  14. Yeah, that's what we figured. We'll keep the docs for next year because they will ask for them When she does the next submission...
  15. I took all my supporting documents with because I have been audited for 5 years on the trot. My return has not changed. I have to go in anyway as we claim medical expenses on my Mom inlaw and SARS requires 12 months bank statements to prove payment which I can't upload electronically... Waiting patiently for the results. My wife was selected for audit and was asked to submit documents. Next day she received her refund without submitting documents....
  16. Chill bro. It is centred vertically and the left hand side lines up with the edge of the box below it.
  17. In town, it lives in my pocket. The Sena takes care of the comms and tunes. For navigation, I get voice prompts and if I miss the turn, Google recalculates for me
  18. As promised: What it looks like assembled The bits and pieces from the leftover GoPro mounts box GoPro flat mount attached to the back of a China Mall phone case I had it mounted to my everyday Spigen case but it kept hooking on everything when you tried to get it out your pockets and my patience eventually wore thin so I bought the other case. It does wobble a bit when you are riding but you can still see the screen. I also installed the voltmeter/USB charge port below it so now the phone can be charged off the bike while riding (I used to use a powerbank inside my handlebar bag which worked but this way is better). Edit: With the mounts it is adjustable as well so depending on the sun etc you can compensate for glare. As you can see a cap screw was used so there is some assembly and DIY required
  19. I use my phone. Either Google maps if I am not planning on going too far off the beaten track or OsmAnd for gpx tracks out on the goat paths. Google Earth or Base camp to plot the waypoints and then export as a gpx file. I cobbled a mount together with a few GoPro mounts and a phone cover. Will take some pics and post later.
  20. I recently tested the "new" option on offer from Discovery Insure where you get to pay for a portion of your tyre purchase from TWT with the funds from your Excess Funder Account based on your drive status and it works very well!! New tyres for the Frontier and my trailer. My portion after my Vitality discount and the Drive Status discount came to a little over R1500. Thanks Discovery!!
  21. Lol
  22. Work are supposed to be rolling out Noiseclippers one of these days. I have been using those foam squishy ones on the bike recently but want to try using my buds to cancel out wind noise and also let me listen to the Sena.
  23. And lets not forget hitting an insect at 120....!
  24. Fox V2 Pilot Only issue is the noise when out on the open road and of course riding in the rain but that will be an issue with any MX lid. I run a Sena SMH10 and at anything over 80-100 kph I can't hear a thing. Going to be testing in ear buds plugged into the unit soon to see if that helps.
  25. Blowing past you at 200 in and out of traffic on a Saturday/Sunday morning.....
