  1. I had to use the family friendly version unfortunately
  2. IMO the only bike that you should be buying that has a Harley link to it is an XB9 or an XB12 (Just don't tell a Buell owner that he has a Harley...)
  3. ^^ What he said Besides the fact that the 883 could be considered a girls bike.... it has been referred to as a "Half a Harley" based on it capacity. Probably a bit like riding a scooter. Loads of fun until your mates find out.....
  4. Just finished S02 of Jessica Jones. I am all superheroed out now.... My wife said So what's next? My response was anything as long as it doesn't have anybody in it with superpowers. We started watching House of Cards. So far so good.
  5. I have been watching it on and off. Definitely not a family show... Some of the humor isn't even suitable for some adults My wife walked in and asked what the heck I was watching! I need to be in the mood for it
  6. True story.
  7. Josh Hill won Red Bull Straight Rhythm in 2016 on an electric MX bike (Alta if I recall) At Pike's Peak they had to fit beepers to the electric bikes. Spectators couldn't hear them coming and were nearly taken out crossing the track and they arrived a speed! IOMTT also has an electric class if I recall? I would be wary of riding an electric bike in traffic TBH. People can't see you on a big single with a loud Akra on and lit up like a Christmas tree. Imagine how many lights you'd need on an electric bike?!?!?
  8. Bikers are a lot more pleasant to be around than vegans.....
  9. Pipe noise exits out back and sound is directional so VERY good for buzzing them as you go past to remind them to open their f'n eyes. I have an Akra on my 640 without the DB killer and pedestrians still don't see/hear me when lane splitting.... I would do both pipe and lights. I also have an orange light cover which is quite *** at night.

    Who remembers?

We watched the movie " The Doors" at The Wheel. We were stoned at the time... back in the days when you could still smoke in a cinema. There was also that Moroccan market thing on the one side and the restaurant that you accessed over that suspended bridge if I recall. A few years later a guy that I worked with almost had his kid kidnapped from there! Two guys just picked the lighty up and carried him outside towards a waiting taxi. Luckily they weren't successful.
  11. So true. I had a succession of dirt bikes from when I got married up until my first son was born. Sold my KTM 250 EXC to cover medical expenses as well as set up the room etc for my boy. It took another 16 odd years before I was able to get another bike and that was all thanks to a Discovery incentive payout as well as me having to sell my DH bike to raise the funds. I bought a bit of a beater that needed some TLC but you can never put a price to the smile on my dial! No funds for any weekend trips with the boys but we manage to squeeze in a day trip or two during the year and I use it to commute to work every now and again. There are more important things at the moment like varsity fees...
  12. Couldn't agree more. The person at the gym (who incidentally worked for Health and Racket (yes I spelled it wrong on purpose...) the precious week and then worked for Players the following week) basically told me that H&R were closed and this was a new gym now so if you want to train here you need to join... Many expletives were exchanged and I walked out. A few months later I was back however but this time I signed a month to month contract. I won't ever get snared into paying for anything like that upfront again.... it left a very bad taste in my mouth. At that time, R1200 was a lot of money to just give away!
  13. Same thing happened to me. Paid the annual membership fee up front and they closed doors a month later. Were taken over by Player's Gym (Basically just changed the signage overnight). Arrived for my workout and was told my membership was not valid. They then requested another membership fee... I see a lot of businesses that are closing down. Sign of the times I guess. More people are k@king off than we realise....
  14. I am having a problem with my S7 and my Garmin HR monitor... I was able to pair my Garmin HR monitor strap with the Samsung Health App a few months ago and it has been working just fine up until this week.... Ran last week with the phone using the SHealth app to record the activity and all worked fine. The app synced with Disco and the points for the HR data pulled through without any hassles. This week however, the SHealth App doesn't pick up the HR monitor. I de-registered it and tried again to sync them with no luck. Changed the battery and still nothing. Double checked that it was working with my Edge and it picks up HR straight away so no issued with the actual HR monitor. Just can't get the phone to recognise it? Has anybody else had t a similar problem?
  15. Does it dry clear? Looking at treating the kitchen counter tops so I don't want to see it when it dries.
  16. Ok so not woodwork related but the wealth of knowledge here with regards to sealing should be able to sort this one... I am looking for a product called Elkay Maxiseal VH72 it is a natural stone sealer that is hydrophobic an repels just about anything. We have fired granite counter tops in the kitchen ad they are proving a real beaaatch to keep clean... It is a Turkish product and I haven't seen it available commercially. I have spoke to a guy but wanted to seek alternative suppliers as well.
  17. Geez Marvin... unlucky bud! I recently had a close call with a taxi. Idiot just changed lanes. Luckily I was a bit behind him (about to pass him though) so I had time to take evasive action. I try and give them a wide berth when commuting. Too unpredictable.

    Who remembers?

I can remember R2 to the dollar...
  19. Sorry mate I thought it was in there. Read it somewhere just need to figure out where I saw it now.... Edit: Found it but it was a post....
  20. For a long time the cash back was getting paid into our account and getting absorbed into monthly expenses. I had it diverted into the EFA after I had an accident and needed to raise the excess towards the end of the month.... Luckily no accidents since then and the funds kept accumulating until I had a look and the balance was sitting at R31k! (Disco match you rand for rand if you select the EFA) I used that to pay for tyres and still had about R16k left. Now the funds go back into my current account but instead of spending that money, I keep an eye out for the deposit from Disco and go transfer it across into my bond account You can either contact you broker or I am sure that you can call the help line and get a consultant to do it for you. I just call my broker's admin lady and she sorts it out for me
  21. That is the key. At the end of the day it isn't about the smoothies or the gym discounts. It is about the life insurance discounts, the RA benefits, the 5 year cash back on premiums based on claims that gets matched by Disco rand for rand if you re-invest back into your RA. We don't have a choice as far as medical aid at work goes. Based on the fact that we are already using the product and a broker that explained the benefits of achieving Diamond status we decided to go all in and make it work and to date it is working
  22. As Frosty mentioned, I have changed my driving style since having the tracker installed. Average cash back is between R400-600 a month which was going into my EFA. In May Disco let you use the EFA money to pay for tyres based on your drive status. Mt drive status was at Diamond so the Frontier got 6 new muds and the trailer got 3 new Contis All for the pricely sum of..... R0 (Yes you could argue that it was my money all along so not free but at the time, you don't miss the cash back going into a separate account. A little bit like a blind savings account) I take that 100km event free weekly challenge as just that, a challenge. Driving better benefits you. Less fuel, tyre wear, general wear and less risk of an accident. Suppose it's not for everybody though. Edit: If I want to Hoon I take the bike for a spin. No tracker on that and the phone motion thingy hasn't been activated either for obvious reasons.....
  23. I am the same height and weight as you. I rode a XT660Z for a few weeks. As Andyman said nice bike. Reliable as well. (Suspension lets it down a bit) The Z has the larger screen and would be great for longer trips off the black top.
  24. Not sure what the X Factor is TBH... For me there is a sense of excitement getting on your bike to go ride even if it is just to work or the shop for bread. You need to be wide awake (obviously) all the time and alert. Your senses need to be in overdrive. You hear things and smell things that you wouldn't in a car. I have drunk the orange Koolaid and I haven't ridden a GS so my view might be a bit skewed... Riding a KTM is exciting. You know it is more than capable but you never know for how long Seriously though. I think I have found my happy place on a big bore single adventure bike. The big 1200 would be too big for where I want to go. My wife doesn't ride so it's just me. I don't need to do 200 on the highway. Heck I hate the highway! The 650 class is big enough to load luggage and still go fast enough when you need to. Why do I ride? Because it makes me happy.
