  1. Those 650 Dakars with the Rotax motors are good bikes. Not the most exciting bikes around but a good buy none the less. Nice ones are becoming harder to find. Their owners don't let go easily

  3. Some pics of a recent trip a few mates did. Up from Durban through Golden Gate and based in Ficksburg. Maloti Mountains
  4. Due to the nature if the intended use, my bike attracts bush rash like a South African Robot attracts street vendors. I keep planning to do something about the cosmetics but I have given up, I have decided to focus on the mechanicals and the reliability instead.
  5. Don't give up! If you let it slip this year then you have to wait three years to achieve diamond again.... If you have integrated all the products and are using the diamond status for the insurance and life benefits etc and not just for the free smoothies and apple watch, then the loss is quite big if you let it slip. It's only September so you still got 4 months
  6. Do everything that everybody has already suggested and do it soon. We were in a similar position a few years ago and I vowed to not let it happen again. Too stressful. For the past few years we have booked our assessments for the first three months of the year. Then aim for your weekly targets and everything falls into place comfortably. From next year our target climbs to 120k as my son is now 18. He is getting a HR device for Christmas....

    Who remembers?

My friend's son is 12. My son is 9. We get a black bag of clorhes every now and again from them. His wife asked if we minded. Nothing wrong with the clothes. Just too small for their son. I laughed and said heck no I don't mind. Bring as many bags as you want!

    Who remembers?

My Mom used to do that. We weren't flush growing up either. Got a pair of Gotcha baggies as a gift and recycled that label a few times

There is a chance that you may have accumulated over time.....
  10. A common combo on the singles is the E07 rear with a TKC80 up front. I am using the conti on the front at the moment with a Pirelli Scorpion Rally at the back but using the bike to commute occasionally is eating rubber.... My next rear will be an E07. Heard good reviews except on wet grass. It is deadly on wet grass.
  11. My 1/2" Stahlwillie ratchet started to slip on one of the ratchet teeth so I took it to the agents in Springfield Park. With a lifetime guarantee I expected to either get it repaired or replaced. Got a call a week later to come collect. No repair or replacement. Was classified as wear and tear on a moving part.....
  12. Unfortunately some of us still dwell in the corded age and our salary cheques are testament to this.... I feel Slowbee's pain. I do however long for a time when I can take out a power tool and not have to select the appropriate length extension cord..... At this stage of the game my only cordless item is a 10mm 18V drill from Adendorff... It does the job and is generally my goto but you do get what you pay for
  13. We adopted two labs a few years ago. They dug up the garden and shredded everything in site. We were told they'd grow out of it after two years ( They were a year and a bit old when we got them) Well I can officially call bullsh!t on that. My labs are almost 4 and they still dig and shred.... not much Is lab proof. Well maybe if it is inside the house behind a locked door!
  14. What chicken strips...? http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-J4sHEct8Z88/U5xSM2FHjLI/AAAAAAAAEgg/jvzfA66Yq4I/s1600/nochickstrips1.jpg
  15. Pros and cons to using both. For general road and commuting use a std transmission chain would work fine albeit with a bit more maintenance. However if you do any gravel travel or off road excursions, o-ring might be a better purchase. Found these interesting reading: https://www.fixyourdirtbike.com/tips/maintenance/o-ring-chain-vs-roller-chain/ https://www.motosport.com/blog/o-ring-chain-vs-non-o-ring
  16. I haven't had to wait longer than two weeks for parts from Alfie Cox Racing. KTM Durban are also not too bad with most items ex stock and on service items (oil filters), KTM are actually cheaper that Startline...
  17. Don't listen to the worm. Seldom does a positive comment escape his lips.... Take one for a test ride. Try ride a few options back to back and compare them (just remember to compare apples with apples). As with any mark, you sometimes get unlucky. With a new bike you shouldn't have any issues that the warranty won't cover. Obviously the further away from the original purchase date you decide to venture, the risk is proportional. Bike spares are expensive when things go wrong. There isn't a lot of difference between part prices between the German/Austrian/Japanese bikes (Know of a KTM cylinder head that cracked and a replacement head wasn't that much more expensive than a Yamaha head). There are pros and cons for sure between owning each one but at the end of the day it's a trade off I suppose. Happy browsing!!
  18. Isn't that LEXX's weapon of choice? Colleague at work commutes on one. I can't recall ever seeing him arrive at work grumpy...
  19. This movie went right back to the beginning of Free style. McGrath and Emig free riding in the dunes and meeting Seth Enslow, Travis as a 13 year old kid when he met McGrath, Emig and Seth Enslow in Florida, Travis jumping into teh Bay at X-Games, Hart attempting the first backflip, Metzger flipping ramp to ramp in competition, the beginnings of Crusty as well as where they all are now, Metal Mulisha and right up to today with teh first triple backflip at Travis' house. Really was a great watch if you are into the FMX scene Edit: Available on Netflix
  20. Watched some good stuff this weekend. Billionaire Boys Club which was quite entertaining and Unchained: The untold story of Freestyle Motocross. These guys are just at a different level...
  21. I really like this one that was on Grand Designs http://www.seymoursmith.co.uk/underhill-psv.php

As long as it is leaking oil you know that it still has oil...
  23. Finishing Designated Survivor S01 tonight. Looking forward to S02. Really enjoying Netflix. Every time we log in there is more new content!! I am never going to run out of stuff to watch. Watched Deathgrip last night with Brendog Loads of sports docs to get through as well
  24. I went for a ride on my own a while back (in hindsight it was a dumb idea) and I went a bit off the beaten track. Decided to turn around before I got into trouble. While turning around, I lost my footing and dropped the 640. It fell downhill.... Although the slope wasn't too bad, I almost ruptured my intestines trying to get that b!tch upright again..... Lesson learned! Pavement rides are cool on your own, anything involving dirt, it's a good idea to take a mate along.
  25. Wow that's a lot of stuff!! That road book holder for the 640 was an aftermarket item to hold an actual road book but guys use it to attach GPS and phone mounts. Bit easier buying one than hashng together a Pooratech mount from leftovers I suppose. My journey was always going to be budget adventure. Doubt I'll ever swing my leg over a new 1090...
