  1. Not directed at you Bro, just a comment on the topic in general If I an athlete meets the criteria from the local governing body and is selected to go to worlds or whatever, then they should go if they can. It’s not only about winning, or learning to win, many athletes train hard and makes sacrifices to be the best in their respective countries, being selected is a goal and reward. There can be only 1 winner out of a few potential winners, and many competitors, but that does not mean everyone else should stay at home This going to learn thing is a tired argument in many debates like this in many different sports, not just cycling. I don’t think any solution has been found yet, maybe it doesn’t need a solution?
  2. I’m new here, who the hell is frank?
  3. It all boils down to how much you can afford, figure out how much you can afford, add 15% and buy the best specced bike that your budget allows. Don’t forget the other things like riding kit (shoes, shorts, helmet, bike carrier for the car, etc….) As already mentioned a HT will work in most forms of MTB and you will learn some valuable lessons by riding a HT, it’s cheaper and easier to maintain and yakkity yak…. Hell in that case you may as well get a fully rigid mtb ( do they even make rigid mtb’s now? ) that will really accelerate the learning curve but leave your 40 year old body feeling like Chris Froome after his latest ride in southern France. Being somewhat of a veteran (riding and racing mtb’s XCO since last century) I’ve ridden fully rigid to dual suspension xco machines and currently only have 1 mtb which is a dual suspension xco machine, and as we are now in the year 2025 and not 19voetsek that’s what I would recommend, dual suspension xco bike clown bike (clown bike = 29” wheels). Live in the present and not the past Good luck and enjoy
  4. Im old school and only wear short black socks I would focus on training better and eating better ( loose weight) before I spend money on aero socks to save a few seconds

  9. Sadly the end is nigh… https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/chris-froome-cyclist-for-israel-premier-tech-hospitalized-after-training-crash/ Four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome will undergo surgery today after “a serious training crash” that saw the British cyclist airlifted to a hospital in France. Froome’s team Israel-Premier Tech says he is “stable and did not sustain any head injuries” but adds that scans confirmed a pneumothorax, five broken ribs and a lumbar vertebrae fracture. Froome was taken to hospital in Toulon by helicopter yesterday after the accident, which happened while he was training near Saint-Raphaël. His team says “no other cyclists or vehicles were involved.” This latest incident could spell the end of Froome’s career as his contract with Israel-Premier Tech — which he joined in 2021 — is coming to an end.

  11. I think JV has released resistance (against the current version pog) is futile https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/keeping-tadej-pogacar-at-peak-level-is-no-longer-a-question-of-age-but-mainly-of-motivation-says-uae-head-of-performance-as-he-nears-fourth-tour-de-france-title/

  13. Just watched today’s stage……Seeing is believing but tbh it’s simply UNBELIEVABLE I find it extremely hard to understand how 1 rider can consistently be so much better than everyone else TNT commentator: “He’s from another planet”
  14. At last a reason to not like him (TP) Normally he is Mr niceguyhardnottolike
  15. There’s still some potential relief that the unbelievable performances will fall foul of the “health inspectors” and open up the podium.
  16. What works for one does not work for all. Personally I need to eat something, simple white bread toasted sandwiches with peanut butter and honey or just jam works for me. Each person needs to try find what nutrition works for them in training
  17. What color is it available in, if RED just do it Black or white, pass
  18. Anatoly, also known as Vladimir Shmondenko, is a Ukrainian weightlifter and social media personality known for his strength and unique training style, often involving "cleaning" or powerlifting moves. He gained popularity for his "cleaner" persona and impressive strength feats, including a 210kg squat, 300kg deadlift, and 150kg bench press, all achieved at a bodyweight of around 78-80kg
