  1. Wonder if Nino and them will make up enough time on the last 25k…. A lot less climbing might suite them
  2. Ai feel sorry for Frishi, all the pressure on him today
  3. It’s going to be interesting. Depending on the condition of the trails and if the organisors change the route….
  4. Agreed cuts offs once set should not be adjusted, otherwise it diminishes the events prestige and accomplishment of those who made it. Sure it’s easy to say lying here on the couch watching epic, cricket, golf and tour of cataluna all unfold… someone has to do it 😇
  5. According to the rules it’s allowed: 8.3 Doubling Back. A rider is allowed to “double back” on the route at any time in order to re-join his/her team member or for the purpose of requesting or obtaining assistance (medical or technical), provided that he/she does not endanger any other rider in doing so.
  6. Watching the live stream Gerald said they put in a tube, when they showed it again I saw a tire liner but could not see a tube anywhere, wonder if they had one? The Iive coverage is fantastic imo, must be quite difficult from a tech and logistics point of view
  7. And maybe access for medical rescue at the higher section would have been to difficult.
  8. Well at least Thomas is in the race…. Masters category and 82 overall as of stage 5
  9. The technical parts will be a mess by the time the back markers ride them, chain suck and lots of walking…. Wonder if they will extend the cut off time?
  10. The bike shops providing maintenance packages will make a killing….recommending replacement to all their customers.
  11. Eating and drinking during the day in dusty dirty conditions is a recipe for spuit poep, as a participant your hands that you handle your food with while riding are dirty, your water bottle spout is dirty and even the food tables at the water points are exposed due to everyone grabbing stuff with dirty hands and stuffing it down their throat. Hygiene is critical, but very difficult over 7 days in the untamed African bush
  12. Back in the day pre 2003 my wife and I belonged to a social running club so we attended quite a few comrades (my wife ran while I supported along the route) it’s eye opening to see the pilletjies club runners carry with them, some we knew where Dr’s and nursing sisters… they were the worst
  13. Hi John, is Amy any relation…..
  14. True story which happened to me in the distant past…. Got food poisoning from what I suspect was a bad woolies sandwich Handed out at the finish of one stage, struggled the whole night and next stage with bad nausea, during the next stage I Stopped at one of the first aid tents and asked if they could give me a “quick drip” to quickly replace the lost fluids…. Answer was yes, BUT then your race is over. Granted a drip is not the same as pain pills (you know like most comrades non podium runners carry with them 😂), and I’m pretty sure lots of epic riders do the same….but the principal should be the same.
  15. After watching todays highlights I think it’s safe to say Nino will soon have a sore neck Seems to spend a lot of time looking behind him, could be irritating after a few days if you are his partner….
  16. Pfffft…White Sox….. no real mtbkr would be seen dead wearing shin high white sox
  17. I only watched a few minutes, saw and thought exactly the same about the dust from the choppers. Might be acceptable if it was for a short time as they approach the finish….
  18. I really hope fairytales come true today and Sagan can upset the Pogacar applecart today
  19. Apparently it some countries it’s not illegal 😁
  20. Bikehub classifieds happened
  21. Not exactly what you looking for but we use iptv which cost about chf 100 per year and includes all the dstv plus hundreds of others channels https://iptvwod.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIn5z-2P7g_QIVic13Ch0WmArsEAAYASAAEgI9_vD_BwE
  22. First off go see a good orthopaedic specialist in knees, preferably one who specialises in sports. In my case the surgery provided instant relief. ive had both my knees meniscuses done due to pain from various meniscus injuries in the past. There used to be a guy called Ponkie Furrer (spelt as it sounds) in JHB who was highly recommended. Suspect he may have retired by now. Search this topic as it’s been discussed before.
