  1. Took my new shoes for their first spin yesterday, Lake MX241's very comfy but a tad warm, might need to make some ventilation holes Riding on the pavement, walking / cycling path next lake Zug Rest day / Ruhetag tomorrow Some nice cold mountain water
  2. Iā€™m sure I did (edited, maybe it was a different event in those days) MM last century (1990ā€™s) on a fully rigid Marin Bobcatā€¦ just saying I guess the route was easier then šŸ¤ŸšŸ‘
  3. With 26 days to the 2023 TDF, where is Froomie? Other than the occasional smiling Twitter post there is not much news and neither any mention of upcoming races in prep for TDFā€¦.. Will he even be selected for the team? Love Darylā€™s ā€œBe Lekkerā€ videos, hereā€™s the latest with Froomie
  4. 5.8 km Hill time trail to prove how unfit I am At least the view was worth it
  5. Exactly, the kind who might be willing to sponsor a laatjie pursuing a familiar cause
  6. Something like what many of the Cape Epic teams receive, many are normal average janes and joes but are sponsored the entry fee. So it could be possible, your age (still school going) might restrict your ā€œbusinessā€ contacts I would suggest researching the CE entry list for private not well known teams and their sponsors, look for those that are in your vicinity and contact them with a brief cv and motivation letter of you and your mate as per other posts before this. If you donā€™t tryā€¦. Good luck
  7. Is old George from mean machine still building wheels, he used to be damn good i suspect he would have retired by now
  8. You asked for a DYIā€¦. Seen on a township bicycle back in the 90ā€™s 2 liter plastic bottle cut +/- down the middle just up to the cap thread which was not cut in half. The cap had 2 small slits in it allowing it to be cable tied onto the aft end of the seat post. The plastic bottle half was screwed into the cap resulting in something resembling an ass saver. Same bike also had a 2 liter plastic home fabricated splash guard cable tied onto the down tube.
  9. Yeah but it will still be won in the mountains by a skinny mountain goat
  10. Interesting link to SR71 Blackbird story from one of the pilots Sorry if I posted it before, but think itā€™s well worth watching again. Now to download the book ā€œSled driverā€
  11. Thatā€™s generally the same for most grand tours, a few big climbing days decides the GC which eliminates 90% of riders. Organizers should try a route along the lines of a spring classic with shorter climbs and give more riders a chance to win the GC just sayingā€¦
  12. I use a pair of Assos long finger autumn (fall) gloves under a pair of specialized water proof gloves and make sure that there is no gap between my jacket arm sleeves and gloves, tucking the sleeves under the gloves. Flexing the fingers regularly to pump warm blood through them. Riding in the cold is scheisse
  13. 747 loses one of its landing gear during landing Pretty impressive how it bounced down the runway knowing how big these landing gear are https://www.20min.ch/video/boeing-747-verliert-fahrwerk-bei-landung-311092088090
  14. Yeah more than a solid ride, this RockRider brand must have something special under the paint Very happy to see Pidcock take the win from that last climb
  15. QUOTE FOR THE DAY: ā€œTrue terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country.ā€ ā€” writer Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
  16. What they needed to do was to ride the last 2 km like they wanted to be on the podium 40 second lead with 4 km to go and typical roadie selfish attitude riding (missing turns) by Dimarchi cost them the chance to stand on the podium
  17. Cramps are often your bodies way of telling you to slow down, in other words you (not you directly, athletes in general) are exercising above their capabilities and level of preparation. IMO Nutrition plays a lessor role wrt cramps, provided you eat and drink sensibly (normal commercial energy drinks have it all). Timing your race efforts is vital
  18. Not trying to polarise anyone ā€¦.. šŸ˜ but Garmin and replacement always appear in the same sentence, scale of sales just highlights it
  19. Would love to know what that was about Nice video... if that doesn't make you think about entering the epic nothing will.
  20. Earlier this week i had the day off and took the Tarmac for a grind up to the chapel and back
  21. Jirrieā€¦. Froomie is ā€¦ā€¦ um taking it very easy so far
  22. A bladdy car comes in at least a ton, lots of stuff that makes up that weight ā€¦ radio, sat nav, aircon, electric windows, alarm immobilizer, engine that drives the wheels, a boot, spare wheel, etc, etcā€¦. Bicycles lose everything to reduce weight and you pay more for having less Cyclists must be dumb suckersā€¦in addition to being wheel suckers šŸ˜‚
