If it was cycling it would be unbelievable In MotoGP its just Ducati grunt
  7. Only one year !!!! Feels much longer
  8. Look ahead and choose your route appropriately, after a few pedal strikes you should be able to judge where it’s likely to happen and time your pedaling to avoid strikes
  9. I’ve mostly used 175 cranks, once I had a custom road frame built in SA and the BB height was to low by a few mm, i was always hitting my pedals in corners.... the guy who built it ended up building a new one under warranty.
  10. Yep, i think if you take your HR training serious a chest strap is the only accurate way to measure HR Wrist based things measure blood flow, chest straps measure signals from your heart.
  11. Distance being the key, so if a little gps watch does not measure the distance consistently accurate... then what? Another example, run out in the open and a wrist based gps works pretty well, run in a forest, amongst tall buildings or anywhere the sat signal is disturbed and then your distance ends up being disturbed as well. anyway a fuss about a minor issue, carry on
  12. I wonder how accurate all these given stride lengths that are calculated by the various watch algorithms are .... Reason i wonder is i have seen how different watches measure distance differently by a fairly large margin, even when they were started and stopped at the same time. For example, often the wiff and i will jog together starting and stopping our watches at the same time (since we noticed this we make a point of doing it in perfect timing) and they never equal the same distance. Same thing with my bike computer, i once measured a TT route on my bike computer and then ran it numerous times... and the distances were not the same either, out by 100m or so. Now we talking about mm wrt to stride length... just saying
  13. How do you guys n girls with multiple running shoes keep an accurate track of each pairs km? Polarflow... does not provide any automatic feature Strava free... allows you to record multiple shoes but you have to manually select which pair you run in.
  14. Here's one for your next run... See if you can work out my stride length Seems like my Polar and Strava don't do the math
  15. Assuming you manage to get an IDT, will you be able to connect to the internet i.e. Zwift or similar platform to do online rides? IMO that would be the best option, but obviously comes with a cost (needs internet and a subscription to online platform).
  16. Eh....Whats a "alpha floor"
  17. What the flip is " leg spring stiffness" Can i change mine to softer ones as i get older... Sorry could not resist Still would like to know what it is, thanks
  18. How much ronds does the thing cost? Do you have an eye on any specific model?
  19. Glad you ok to tell the tale What was the bakkie drivers reaction, did he earn a flattie?
  20. Driving to work daily I find myself wishing that they would invent a camera that takes pictures of cars that don’t keep a safe following distance. Traffic authorities would make a killing. I’m driving 90 km a day to work and back mostly on highways where the speed limit is 120kmh, I pass 4 permanently fixed speed cameras a day, plus at least another 2 mobile cameras, but the biggest fu i see on the roads are the majority of drivers who have no idea about safe following distances.
  21. Anyone who runs at the speed of Brownlee and Farah will have large stride length in comparison to someone running at a more “normal person” speed. If I go to the track and (try) smash a 400m lap at the speed they run I Guarantee my stride length would increase significantly. My point was that training using spm specifically as a training metric (like effort or speed) is pointless, what is a persons goal spm? It will happen naturally as your speed increases using the conventional training metrics. I’ve yet to see a training program that tells you to go and run at a specific high cadence, 190 spm for example.
  22. Agree, I’m not even sure I would call it cool..... interesting yes. There are other metrics and parameters that are much more relevant if you want to train and improve. The only time I worry about stride is to try not over stride....in my experience that leads to injury, just stick to your natural stride. I prefer to speed up by increasing cadence and arm speed... especially uphill I find shorter strides to be faster and less strenuous. Yes arms, try fun fast without moving your arms

    Who remembers?

That would make an interesting thread “Post your first post” if it was possible to find each persons first post. Have no idea what mine was, I’d hazard a guess it would have involved LA, my profile says member since April 2005....
  24. So the tube was cracked, how did they check it?
