  1. I think I know his nic on another forum. Will PM him with a link to this forum.
  2. Chat to Shaun Hannie from SignUp. Sure he will be happy to help with an initiative like this?
  3. Free bump. Maryke got a lazy sloth (me) to be strong enough to do Sani2C. I have been to a few coaches and she is the best. The workouts were challenging but I still had time to have a life.
  4. My first stone was a baddie. Had been training hard for Tour de Tuli and racing most weekends then went away for a weekend to my folks place in the bush with friends. Just before Hoedspruit I couldnt sit back I was in such pain. Got some Citro Soda (dont go that route, it apparently aggravates the situation), some urispaz and off I went for a long weekend in the bush with people who didnt know the property. I suffered all weekend, wanting to hurl with pain but only let on to my friends I was seriously sick after day 2 or 3. I was the perfect hostess, showing my guests leopard, getting an elephant to charge us, lions (i think, must have seen them though) and having a fab weekend. The morning we were due to leave I woke up at 2am and thought I was gonna die. I paced for 2hrs, cleaned the freezer and fridge and went to the loo once where i nearly passed out. By 5am I think I passed the bugger cause I fell asleep on the couch. Friends freaked out on the drive home when I asked if someone had myprodol. My new gp says I must have had a fairly large stone (bigger than 3mm) for me to suffer like that - especially since i have a high pain threshold. My kidneys are also a bit messed now. When training try avoid using anti-imflamatories - they put strain on your kidneys. In general: Hydrate hydrate, When you think you have had enough, drink another bottle.
  5. Welcome to my world. I have had them like 4 or 5 times. The first one was a bugger. What ride drink are you on? Do you take calcium supplements? There are a lot of things that can cause them stones. But I found since I changed ride juice, I dont get biggies any more. Have since learnt that my adrenals are messed hence my getting them. But like Ranga said: DRINK, DRINK AND THEN DRINK SOME MORE
  6. Dumb question: is there a map with all the trails?
  7. Pippa Mullins - Google Anne Till and Associates. She is the nutritionist for FitTrack and Discovery. Sports Nutrition is her speciality. I am on her program and she is a rockstar
  8. MDW, I will go get some this week/end. Used low GI on the weekend on breedts and was flat in the second half. What do you guys think of 1st bottle low Gi then moving onto a non low Gi? For my tour we are now doing 100km a day so need to something. Will be using 32Gi recovery as I am not sick this week despite the hard riding.
  9. Saw it at Dischem for r300. Useless info but hope it helps
  10. Hi Frail, thanks for the offer but I am Jozi based, however I will be in Cape Town in a few weeks so maybe make a plan to meet up then
  11. Thanks for this topic! I habe suffered on and off with this for 12years and have never really treated it properly. Sadly it got bad last year before sani and affected my training, this year its worse. The advice wheelsuck gave is sound and wise. Just to add to that: hydration is really important! Drink water or if you really flat have a ride drink in the morning. Also something I learnt today: exercise. Yes, move. Even if you are shattered, a bit of light strength work is good cause it helps the muscles and most importantly your mind.
  12. I currently use and love 32gi but recently my immune system has taken a bad hit with my adrenal glands not functioning well and the low gi products are not working. Before you ask, yes I have been cleared to ride by my doc. I need to find a new ride drink with some urgency. Anyone use usn epicpro? Enduren? Fit? Or Pure nutrition? Finding the new 32gi recover is working like a bomb but need a backup. (choc milk doesnt work for me) Thanks in advance
  13. What category does this fall into:low gi or other? Reason I ask is that as much as Ilove low gi products, my system needs a little something more. Do you have sample sachets or does a person have to buy a tub?

    Ride for Sight

That was a FUN ride! Great to see my friends out there (Crazy Child, Slow Poke and a few others). Although I tried pedalling, I found my throttle worked better for my bike. I really need to practice changing tired!! Eish. 1hill: how you feeling today?
  15. Ditto on Johan's course. Its an amazing course and now I do most of my repair work myself (if I had proper tools I would do everything). Worth the investment and saved my bacon on a few stage rides where I had technical issues and was able to fix the problem.

    Fast One

There were plenty punctures! Saw 2 guys who had used 3 tubes each and had run out. Big ups to the Cycle Lab rider who turned back to help the 1 guy.
  17. Better idea: let walmart take over the costings. Then we can all afford to ride it. Oh and change it back to the old route. New route has taken the epic out of it.
  18. That is just wrong!! Last year's hills were fun. I am grumpy now... Had I know it was an easier route, I would have entered despite the old knee giving hassles.
  19. The Double D's are entered!! Whohooo!!! I wasnt even planning on doing this but was conned into it by a roadie. Suppose I had better get fit now. (Am doing a 2 week unsupported tour in April, hope that counts.) If anyone has tips etc, feel free to pm me!
  20. Why bother with Northcliff. Doreen is also a killer
  21. bump
  22. I am starting touring in the new year and need a bit of hub advice. It seems like the above 2 are the choices for a touring bike so lets see which of the 2 you would choose.
  23. Shh... Dont give away the best kept recovery and ride drink secret!! That stuff is like doping its so good
  24. Hahaha!! Kicking the door of a fellow cyclist is the dumbest thing Its a guaranteed way to get your butt kicked repeatedly by random people. Think a pic of the offender (before spoked butt) so we all know who to cream in races, throw tacks in front of and have a pump ready(to put in spokes etc).
  25. Cant be me. I go down at 5am Saturdays and use the whole road for myself.
