  1. MDW, I will go get some this week/end. Used low GI on the weekend on breedts and was flat in the second half. What do you guys think of 1st bottle low Gi then moving onto a non low Gi? For my tour we are now doing 100km a day so need to something. Will be using 32Gi recovery as I am not sick this week despite the hard riding.
  2. Saw it at Dischem for r300. Useless info but hope it helps
  3. Hi Frail, thanks for the offer but I am Jozi based, however I will be in Cape Town in a few weeks so maybe make a plan to meet up then
  4. Thanks for this topic! I habe suffered on and off with this for 12years and have never really treated it properly. Sadly it got bad last year before sani and affected my training, this year its worse. The advice wheelsuck gave is sound and wise. Just to add to that: hydration is really important! Drink water or if you really flat have a ride drink in the morning. Also something I learnt today: exercise. Yes, move. Even if you are shattered, a bit of light strength work is good cause it helps the muscles and most importantly your mind.
  5. I currently use and love 32gi but recently my immune system has taken a bad hit with my adrenal glands not functioning well and the low gi products are not working. Before you ask, yes I have been cleared to ride by my doc. I need to find a new ride drink with some urgency. Anyone use usn epicpro? Enduren? Fit? Or Pure nutrition? Finding the new 32gi recover is working like a bomb but need a backup. (choc milk doesnt work for me) Thanks in advance
  6. What category does this fall into:low gi or other? Reason I ask is that as much as Ilove low gi products, my system needs a little something more. Do you have sample sachets or does a person have to buy a tub?

    Ride for Sight

That was a FUN ride! Great to see my friends out there (Crazy Child, Slow Poke and a few others). Although I tried pedalling, I found my throttle worked better for my bike. I really need to practice changing tired!! Eish. 1hill: how you feeling today?
  8. Ditto on Johan's course. Its an amazing course and now I do most of my repair work myself (if I had proper tools I would do everything). Worth the investment and saved my bacon on a few stage rides where I had technical issues and was able to fix the problem.

    Fast One

There were plenty punctures! Saw 2 guys who had used 3 tubes each and had run out. Big ups to the Cycle Lab rider who turned back to help the 1 guy.
  10. Better idea: let walmart take over the costings. Then we can all afford to ride it. Oh and change it back to the old route. New route has taken the epic out of it.
  11. That is just wrong!! Last year's hills were fun. I am grumpy now... Had I know it was an easier route, I would have entered despite the old knee giving hassles.
  12. The Double D's are entered!! Whohooo!!! I wasnt even planning on doing this but was conned into it by a roadie. Suppose I had better get fit now. (Am doing a 2 week unsupported tour in April, hope that counts.) If anyone has tips etc, feel free to pm me!
  13. Why bother with Northcliff. Doreen is also a killer

  15. I am starting touring in the new year and need a bit of hub advice. It seems like the above 2 are the choices for a touring bike so lets see which of the 2 you would choose.
  16. Shh... Dont give away the best kept recovery and ride drink secret!! That stuff is like doping its so good
  17. Hahaha!! Kicking the door of a fellow cyclist is the dumbest thing Its a guaranteed way to get your butt kicked repeatedly by random people. Think a pic of the offender (before spoked butt) so we all know who to cream in races, throw tacks in front of and have a pump ready(to put in spokes etc).
  18. Cant be me. I go down at 5am Saturdays and use the whole road for myself.

    Spruit Safety

That sucks but to be honest, that bottom section gives me the creeps. Too narrow and overgrown. I love riding the top bit - even as a single gal, I love riding that bit solo and have no worries (I get on at Craighall park, ride to the top of emmerentia and back).
  20. I started life as a mountain biker, became a roadie, started commuting and ran back to being a mountainbiker / commuter / tourer. Much friendlier on this side. We stop for people with flat tires, laugh and have fun. And: we dont ride 3 abreast. Not cool.
  21. Intervals are the things that make you puke but make you stronger. Fantastic stuff. Do lots of them and ignore the rest. Suppose you should also do at least 3 long races in between.
  22. Awesome! Thanks. May go Sunday morning. I take it I just go in on main road entrance and turn left on what looks like a track?
  23. Oh no!! You further from my work. Oh well, longer lunches here we come.
  24. St Stithians should make a mtb track, encourage students to start mtb and open it up to other mtb-ers (I would happily pay a monthly fee). Would add revenue to the school. Pity my old private school doesnt have as big a property.....
  25. I have also had terrible service there. Thought it was jsut a once or 3x off but after the 4th time where they treat me like a dumb girl and then still try sell me the completely wrong part, I refuse to go there. Seems like they only care bout jocks with plenty money. Dont bother trying to mail them - they clearly dont know how to respond, even when you are looking for expensive bike toys. Go to Achtar at Woodmead or the awesome guys at Complete Cyclist.
