  1. still to read but looks interesting so far - nice one.
  2. Bleed brakes. Fit new pads. Clean rotors with Isopropyl alcohol. Fit brakes to bike and align calipers. Allow pads to bed in with with some interval training...
  3. Interesting read. Thanks :-) Maybe change the shock with Fox's new range (2013 i think) the new CTD damper. For those of you wanting to learn more:- http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/news/article/fox-2013-new-ctd-damper-34-forks-and-more-33747/ Im definitely looking at one of the forks.

  9. wasnt the left side cup just wider on the old 68mm? cos then you could use the old plastic cup with a new 68mm bb. Ill have to go check some manuals somewhere but ya its not ideal. Are you sure you cant get 78mm? sounds bit mad to me cos there are loads of bikes out there with that size and they cant all upgrade to external bb's.
  10. one ride in the mud and it will look cool anyways
  11. FIRST Ask your friend what components were on the bike. Cos thats the first thing a bike shop will ask is what components and what wheels it had (things that get upgraded first) Ive seen a few of those Treks going for 2K to 3K. they are very common. SECONDLY Go to a local bike shop in stellies and ask them what the market related value of the bike is/was. I know there is Flandria cycles by Pick n Pay, Mason's close to the Dros ( in that alley way where stones and all stars was) and BMT in morkel street. My 2c

  18. LOL but that oke looks determined!
  19. I have a DJ bike that I ride everywhere with. Literally. After years of riding, a new frame, few forks and countless rims, it remains 8 speed cassette and chain with old xtr rear deraileur. The xtr rear deraileur comes off my old xc bike and is still going strong and i swear that thing must be like, 5 years old. I just replace the jockey wheels every year and great success. BUT oh how i wish i could dress her in shiny SRAM..... ...and thats exactly when reality kicks in and reminds me that i cant AFFORD to replace XO chains and cassettes every 1600km's. Buy what you can afford. not what you can afford right now, but what you can afford for the duration of your bike's life.
