  1. No liking the thought of cruising around with an armed "bomb" hanging around my neck though.
  2. Nice to see an OEM bike with Shimano Shadow+ fitted
  3. Quick wash and lube and it will be good to go!
  4. Love my Reba and a doddle to service @ home
  5. Problem is without being able to prove ownership to the insurance how would proving ownership to a lawyer go down?
  6.
  7. I thought using Avids WAS the preffered method for suicide (coat, door, run)
  8. Drove me insane, to the point of almost putting Avids on.... I kinda understand the loss of "power" as only one side is doing the work (although all the hydraulic force is going to the side that is working so that might also be a k@k assumption on my part), but i really dont understand why it would make that noise and resonate through the bike, especially if its aligned like that from the start (i.e. its not "bending" the rotor over to one side) Edit: Spelling ( )
  9. Been through the same with this model tried sanding pads, sanding the rotors, new pads, new rotors (including a tedious bedding in routine each time, ) and yet it would come back each time within 15-20 minutes into a ride. Edit: S&G
  10. The piston on one side is not extending completely. Take the pads out and gently squeeze the lever to push the pistons out, when you see which one is moving hold it down by wedging in a plastic tire lever and then pull the brake lever again and the other side should free up if its not too gummed up. Once its out a bit clean it with some alcohol and lightly lube it with mineral oil. Push them back in with the tire lever and refit pads etc. Just be careful not to extend either side out to far else you will need to re-bleed them <- i did this, turned a 5 minute job into a 20 minute job. Edit: Grammar
  11. Appears to have gone AoT and somehow managed to get his arm to slide down the lever or lever down his arm, probably that one in 10 Trillion chance of it happening, hectic though.
  12. I said "Don't"...
  13. Reckon this thread may lead to an increase in the divorce rate!!! Whatever you do DON'T do google images search for "Hope hand brake" though, reckon Shimanos would be too soft to do that amount of damage.
  14. Maybe either your flash or Java needs updating (not sure which the site uses)
  15. Other option is your left pedal's bearings are shot, depending on the make and model you may be able to service them and replace the bearings.
  16. Did mine a few weeks back, one of the easiest but messiest jobs I've done, even being careful i was messing drops of oil here and there, my floor looked like like a operating theater once I was done with discarded gloves etc. Question, what grease did you use on the o-rings and where did you get it? Apparently the grease has to be fairly specific as not to attack the o-ring compound, I eventually found a tub of Red Rubber grease (think that's what it was called) at a car shop but they wanted over R200 for the tub, owner was cool enough to let me scoop a finger out of the tub which was enough for the one service.
  17. Exactly what i found with mine yesterday afternoon, been battling for a few weeks now (New Shimano, not XT though) with a noise / vibration coming through my whole bike on the rear, took pads out and extended the pistons and the one side was not moving at all, even when applying pressure to the "free" piston the other side would not come out. Eventually got it to pop out, but in the process managed to extend the other piston a little too far and I could hear it suck in air, , bled it all the way through with new juice and now both pistons move evenly, hope it resolves the noise.
  18. I have a unused / sealed Hub doctor Pro kit, although its been pending the finalization of the sale for over a month now, I'll contact the gentlemen again and see whats happening, if he does not confirm I'll PM you.
  19. What i do is put a small "puddle" of water down on the driveway, ride over it in a straight line for 4-5 turns of the wheel, then get off and mark each wet spot with some chalk, meassure the total between the start (you can use the first spot as the start and not the puddle if you like) and end, then divide the total distance by however many revolutions you got (before you rode into the wall / gate while starring at your front wheel) Edit: S&G
  20. Probably the same effect as seeing the advertising on a rugby / soccer field in person vs what it looks like on the TV
  21. Damm, mine started doing that and I told her not to, guess i was too doff to figure out how to put them on correctly from that fold....
  22.
