  1. Aahhh StevieF. I didn't think that anyone could be that full of it in the real world...
  2. Is that a rigid 29er? Nuff sed
  3. If you race to win, why aren't you a contender anymore? I too race to win, cos no one races to lose. That would be silly, much like wearing white shoes on a mtb.
  4. Ha ha Stevief! Unless you are serious, in which case I am glad I don't race with you. Tjop.
  5. 'Ice cream cart tough!' Respect to the guys that have to ride all the time ...
  6. Does tasting your own puke make you tough then? What about picking the gravel out of your knees and elbows? Or strapping your own broken wrist cos you don't have medical aid and government hospitals are, well... I guess we are all tough in our own way.
  7. Hmmm. This is all good advice but if your budget is only R2500 then its no good when people say spend R5000 is it? Get a 2nd hand bike and when you want to upgrade then you can sell it and get your cash back. If you get an older bike you will get something decent for your budget.
  8. 100 posts on this already! Oh well, no one will ever win this argument on an internet forum . Enduro racing is the answer. Combine all the necessary elements of mountain biking into one event. The winner will be the best all round rider. And the toughest?
  9. So tough you wear your clothes out from the inside! Skin suits used to be compulsory at the DH world champs. Now they are banned. The UCI can't make up its mind. There is actually quite a debate in top DH circles overseas about skinsuits. Its all about image vs performance , or go fast but look gay.
  10. Please stop wearing white lycra shorts on the trail. Its wrong on so many levels. And yes I fall in the freeride camp. What is the advantage of lycra? Serious question.
  11. Oh sorry I mistook this for a serious thread. Why, though, do people wear lycra when not racing? I wear cycling shorts under my baggies and a T shirt or dh style top. Serious question on a silly thread.
  12. Who is tougher, Lance Armstrong for 7 tour victories or Greg Minaar for having his shoulder dislocate in the middle of a race run, popping it back in and still coming third? I crashed a few months ago and my leg went blue and purple but I still came back and hit the same jump( when I could walk again).
  13. What I meant by fun was railing corners, hitting small jumps and rollers and generally having the kind of ride where you end up laughing out loud on the trail! Those who have ridden G spot in Stellenbosch will know what I mean. But as long as you are enjoying yourself then that's great too.
  14. Where are all the fun races? I mean enduro, ds, 4x , eliminator etc. The kind of races where bike skill counts as much as fitness. If I want to prove how much training I have done then I can do the Argus and boast about my time. I wanna have fun on the bike. Enduro racing seems like as close to real mtb riding as I can think of.
  15. Do you go left or right after the first berm? Am keen to see what time I could do myself on the right side track
  16. I say that **** all the time with my bro`s , dude! When we hit those gnarly lines its EPIC!!! Schweet!! Rad man...
  17. And clear a 40 foot gap. And maybe a backflip?
  18. Ride from the parking lot to the mast at tokai without stopping. On my dh bike... And then breaking my record back down
  19. Aaawwwwhh. If you stuck some velvet padding all over it then you could call it the GT Furry and give it cuddles in the pits when it loses...
  20. Bit hard to ride the first one with no derailler...
  21. Bar mounted dildo?!? Looks like a road bar to me. Bar end have their place, just not on my bike.
  22. If the budget is R4000 then get a 2nd hand hard tail. Find someone who knows about bikes to help you find one . Get one that is the right size cos there is nothing more offputting than a bike that is too big or small. When you decide that you want a better bike then you can sell the old one for almost the same price that you paid for it . And remember that the most important thing is to HAVE FUN! It doesn't matter if your bike is 2kgs more than the next guys unless you are racing seriously. So get a bike and go ride...
  23. Use a three ring crank with the 32 on the centre and a bashguard/chainguide on the outer mount. Chainring will sit roughly in the centre of the cassette.
  24. Ticket office opens at 7. I always ride at 6.30 am on sundays. So I should probably go to bed now.
  25. So anyone got any plans for another build day?
