  1. But he was racing against the elites (which include all the big teams). Perhaps he should've gone for the good stuff. He brought his teammates' achievements into disrepute.
  2. The hubbers who always have something to say about everything, was very obvious in their absence. I don't know Gary nor Eben. Some riders do their best to stay clean. I can understand that clean riders don't want to be associated with the likes of dopers. (no matter the circumstance). It's their right. And after reading Babbelkous' testimony and very interesting questions, I have my doubts.
  3. Look for a helmet that has a gap between the base strap that fits around the back of your head and the helmet. Giro, Bell, Met all have this. Plait your hair to make it shorter and tie the end back into your pony tail. Otherwise pull your hair through all the vents and go for the punk look.
  4. You can read about suspensed riders on CSA's website. When I read it on CSA's website yesterday afternoon, I am sure the note read each rider was suspended for one year.
  5. Why race if you have flu (unless you were going for the win?) Bakwena's weather was dismal. If you had flu, you should've stayed in bed. Your flu could've changed to pneumonia. But you still ave. 43km/h on the race regardless of your flu ridden body?
  6. sorry, double postFester2009-01-16 07:45:44
  7. I asked the same question yesterday. I could swear when I read the news on CSA's website yesterday, it read 1 year ban up until 14 January 2010! Perhaps an appeal that was successful? Isn't the ban 2 years as a standard?
  8. What is the standard term ban the riders get if they get caught out? Is it: the worse the drug, the longer the ban? Or is it standard 2 years?
  9. Cycling is in the limelight because it's such an endurance sport. Nobody will suspect a ten pin bowl player to dope. This is sad and it puts a damper on this whole issue: I just read two local riders were suspended for a year for use of ephedrine.
  10. Don't be bothered about the kg issue. Eat healthy and train as much as you feel like. As long as you lose centimeters around problem areas (if you have any) you're winning. How good you look in a short dress/tight pants, is what counts. No one says, Hi what's your name and how much do you weigh?
  11. Don't see it as bitching Nancy. Retailers should see it as a warning not to milk the consumer for all he/she is worth. I shopped for a Selle Italia Gel Flow saddle: a major cycle shop in SA is selling it for R1800. I'm currently buying it overseas for R750. (and those guys are making a profit from that R750!) The mark up on cycling goods in SA is ridiculous.
  12. Ant when I can look to have standed ups I hat a upperretion that Lance is and always will be the best. Eddie Mercs was a fat ass drug induced energiser bunny wif bad teeth!!!!! OOm H jy praat aleweer poefies!!!!! Holy Holy jou biscuit merry cristmaaaas!!!! Will do the dump fing when I can be like to be arived back!!!!! Wis fred is hereby contcluded!!!!!! You sound like the guy that fell on Sat. How hard did you hit your head on the tar?
  13. oh no' date=' bar ens and risers. That's a big no-no. Opps, I did not see the spoke protector. [/quote'] I beg your forgiveness, what is wrong with bar ends? Do you consider it be the ultimate offroad faux pas?
  14. I was awake between 1 and 3am this morning and its fightening to hear how many house alarms go off during this time. Please be vigilant, keep your valuables out of sight and locked away.
  15. Entrytime adds a handling fee to take the entries. It's been like that since forever. I'm not sure how much gets added, though.
  16. Chinese models have flooded the market in recent years, selling for much cheaper than the good, faithful names. These quads (with their little 'chainsaw' motors) rev up, and nothing happens. The rider then opens the throttle a bit more and once the clutch kicks in, that quad is gone quicker than expected. Teach your son how to ride the quad, supervise him all the time. Kids need to explore the outdoors again. Tv is dead.
  17. I don't want to see anyone's butt crack whilst riding, men or women. Normal shorts tend to move down with movement and standing, then the chamois/padding moves around causing her to chafe. Let her wear bibs, and it's really not such an issue to take them off to go to the loo. (start undressing in the queue to save time). Just make sure the padding/bib is women specific.
  18. Don't order anything. Have your kid/s cuddle and stroke the animals on your visits, but don't spend a cent. Encourage your friends to do the same. The lack of patrons will bite them in their ignorant butts(!) soon enough.
  19. Sour grapes, babe? Scotty's right, you forgot to mention those many times the Vets group pulled the ladies right to the end. It's only recently that the organisers started getting it right by letting the ladies go on their own.
  20. You're quite right. If (when) you fall of an offroad bike, the bike tends to move away from you with momentum. It is also easier to push the bike away from your body on your way down. Normal 125cc weigh about 75-80kgs. Quads tend to fall back on the rider, or the rider breaks an ankle, because he wants to put his foot out. Proper gear can prevent most of it.
  21. But only 90kms? What a joke, it's an average distance for most of us! ALL major race oraganisers should change their elite distances and then there is no way of getting past it. If the elites won't race, because it's too far (cry me a river) I'm sure the Vets will take the organisers up on it. I am sure the Malcolm Langes of SA will pitch if the race purse is big enough, even if the distance is 150km. It's about the money, honey.
