  1. Bleed them, bleed them, bleed them, and them bleed them again. At the end of the 10th bleed, "release" some fluid before tightening the bleed port screw (this will give the pads some "play" and not be to close to the rotor). Good luck
  2. PS, start with the frame, wheelset, tyres and fork (in that order). Saving weight on small stuff like that, will cost you more than the weight's worth in Gold. Well, unless you have Bill Gates's bank account...
  3. 1. Take a GOOD pee before your ride, 2. and ONLY as much water as you will need / drink for the ride. Like this you will shave the CHEAPEST 500g, easy!!! Have a read at the attached article about weight as well... Death of a Weight Weenie _ 29er Online.pdf
  4. Hi there guys Check out this guy on a fixie, doing trial riding!!! http://www.bike198.com/video-trials-fixie-riding-by-chris-akrigg/
  5. Yep, CSA and our commentators LIKE to address to Chris Froome as a South African. He is as much a South African as the Quenn and her GBP £!!! That does not at all mean that I like him less or more!!! He will be one of the next greats, no matter his origin, it matters where he is now!!!
  6. ESI you will never fit another pair of grips again!!! Chunky / Race will be to your prefference
  7. Who cares where he comes from. We (South Africans) would like to "claim" him and his performance, but... If Chris Froome stayed here, her would still be here. So, good UP for him, "untying" him from our bureaucracy and making it BIG TIME in Europe. Well done Chris Froome. I don't care whee he comes from, but more about where he is going, and that is to the TOP of our sport.
  8. By asking advice, and TAKING it, it WILL save you lots of $'s. PS, you do not need to waste money, asking advice and taking it WILL save you $'s. 180mm cranks, E-Thirteen make some nice ones, on CRC. 29er rolls faster than 26" bike as spec; YES
  9. Dude, This is going to be a costly exercise for you!!! I have a 29er, and so do most of the other guys commenting here. The answer has been given to you: 26/39 with a 11/36 cassette. Done
  10. Stan's ZTR Flow rims, Hope hubs. BOMB-proof!!!
  11. Hi Guys In this instance, the 24/38, the ratio is more than the industry proven 1 x 1.5 ratio. NOTHING wrong, there will just be a "gap" in the gearing when riding between small and large chainring. The 24 option is also viable for a 29" bike, but then go for a 24/36T ratio.
  12. +1 on Iron's comments. Front chainring ratios you have to look at 1 x1.5 (that is 26 x 39 sizes) if you are looking at 2x10. Furthermore, I would suggest the following for a 29er: 175mm length crank arm (bigger wheels = bigger leverage to turn, and the 175 will help) You will note the following when riding the SAME speed with other riders on 26" wheels: Put BOTH your bike in the highest available gear (39x11 for you like setup explained above). Now, pedal with your friend... You will see that your cadence is still slower at the same speed, and he might have a 42T on a 26" bike. That is the size of the wheel talking. Much more than a 26x39T up front might be MUCH more MUNCH. Happy building, and WELCOME to the 29" world!
  13. +1 on that!!! We could easily become like the next generation Cancelara, Boonen and the likes...
  14. Hi Squier I agree, and also disagree with you. If this was a one off, like a world champs, and the status quo is "every man for himself", YES YES YES, then I would do exactly that. As it was on Monday, that was their day at the office, and you do not k@k on your own voorstoep... What I mean by that is, that these guys spend every day next to each other, shoulder to shoulder, and making treating your colleagues like that, will not grant you any popularity points (yes I know it is not a popularity contest, it is a race). But ruffling up the "senior" guys in the peleton is not a good idea. PS, respect anyway for being able to ruffle up the senior rider's feathers!!! Just still, sucking a wheel for THAT long, no go IMO
  15. Sagan didn't deserve that win on Monday!!! (I have to say, I am a fan of his, but do not support wins like that...) He sucked wheel for WAY to long, I felt embarrassed for him when he raised his arms in the victory salute. IMO, he should have come to the front with around 1,2km to go, do a 300 - 400m stint, and then fall back and sprint for the line. That was WAY un-cool!!! On Cav, well, I love that he is outspoken and says it as it is (with a funny accent I must add). As far as sprinting goes, he is the SHIZZZ, and will be for some time to come. He is a great character in the peleton and ensures some entertainment.
  16. Hi guys My issue is the following: On my DS bike, the bottom mounted bottle on the downtube gets too dirty and dusty. So, now my 2nd bottle is seat-post mounted, and this interferes with a saddle bad underneath my saddle Now, where to put the tube, multitool, tyre levers, tubeless plugs and CO2 bombs??? (All can go in a jersey pocket easy, but the tube gets BULKY)
  17. Hope Pro II is the shizzz. Extremely durable and easy to get parts for (like changing thru axle sizes ect) Great stuff
  18. Hi there I had a similar issue: Ordered some stuff, Royal Parcel force deliver in 8 working days, and different order, same shipping method, 4 and 1/2 weeks waiting!!! I have found the following: 1. If it is a "bigger" order, in value and quantity, you receive a Royal Parcel Force tracking nr, YES, I can show you how and where. 2. Smaller orders, in my case a single Bottom Bracket, NO tracking and a LOOOONG wait. So my philosophy is, order bigger value and quantities. PS, not to big either, larger value than 5k and "bigger in volume (like a foot pump) will increase local fees. Happy shopping
  19. Hey guys Is this thread referring to 29 September? Or another date??? Just don't want to miss anything
  20. Heheheheheh Tooooo much beer already... You other SS guys are in for a thing
  21. Hey guys This thing still on for tomorrow???
  22. I'm there like a BEAR!!!
  23. If I remember right, these new sprockets are titanium, with a wide foot-base (to not rip into your hub-freebody) Really cool
  24. Been riding 29ers ONLY since March 2009 Nothing else!!!
  25. I'll ride that!!!
