  1. Hi, my name is NINER_boy, and I'm a Ninerd... And yes, I also have two. I love these bikes, and as far as I can would ONLY ride Niner's!!!
  2. Guys Just a teaser for the Niner RIP9 in question here... That video might just be the vote-swinger here!
  3. Here is my latest LOVE after the dual-sus era... Taken as SSWC2012
  4. Lets chat, over a couple of cold ones, and the "mentioned" match-up running on a replay loop in the background some Saturday afternoon. But as far as the pic's go, you are gonna get offered some camels soon (not the smoking type)!!!
  5. Pics first... Then we chat
  6. Hi there Delilah It is a Niner RIP9, full XX and Formula R1 brakes. Sorry, not selling this puppy!!! One day is one day that we will Roll In Peace together again
  7. WARNING!!!! You might never fit back the other goodies, and maybe... eventually... Get a DEDICATED single-speed bike!!! PS, my dual sus 2x10 bike has not seen my rear in the last 4 1/2 months. In the garage with a sheet over it
  8. GRAB YOUR TORCH AND PITCHFORKS!!!! Public sensationalism has become an illness of your time... David George's news not even 4hrs old (public) and 26pages on the hub, blaming all over the show. This is just like the LA case, yes, Lance Armstrong's case. The IDIOT Tyler Hamilton, sitting with his smug face, telling the story like it is his to tell, makes me want to puke. He is a hypocrite, and just as guilty as LA. But alas, all the other guilty parties a 6month ban, well, lets leave the rest at that!!! We all are waiting around for someone else to stuff up, and make a hoo-haa out of it, while back at home most of the cynics and critics are people who cheat their wives, dope to be better that your club-mate, and just look for the opportunity to point at someone else!!! Yes LA doped, well so did EVERYBODY else in the peleton. So that made him the fastest of all the cheats. Yes, DG is caught doping, well, that leaves me to think how clean our beloved sport really is... That is me on this topic, over and out!!!
  9. NONE OF THE ABOVE mentioned by you. Disassemble, strip, clean, LIGHTLY grease and re assemble. Unfortunately there are no "quick-fixes" as I understand you want with the aerosol type lube
  10. Mojoman Be careful, suspension is a funny thing. You might think a sound comes from suspension parts, but the origin might be somewhere completely diferent. First, make 100% sure it is from the linkage. Then strip down, clean and grease the contact points LIGHTLY with a high grade grease (like Parktool poly lube), and reassemble. Remember to torque to spec and check that all the spacers / washers are right side assembled and clean. If you then still have a noisy bike, look for the noise elsewhere OR take to a bike service professional, because the problem might then be bigger or something else altogether. Good luck
  11. Any lube type spray is a NO NO for suspension parts. This "lube" WILL collect more dust and contaminate your dust seals quicker. Therefore, DUST SEALS are lubed from the inside with a low-viscosity oil / liquid, for the stanhcions to be "lubed" (reduce friction) while in use. Using ANY external lube will shorten the life of your dust seals and increase maintenance schedules. Happy Hoopin
  12. On One, with GEARS!!!!!!! uuuhhhhh, that is like having ice-cream with garlic sauce, NASTY!!!!!!!
  13. Hahaha, that is funny, Sometime In my garage it is the other way round... The geared bike stands in the corner, gathering dust and cobwebs. Gave it a GOOD wash and lube over the weekend, and now has a sheet over it. I keep on warning myself; "when you go into the garage under the influence, it is NOT Micheal Myers standing there, it is just too many gears hanging from a hook!!!" Happy Hoopin
  14. XX Cassette = R2300, lasts around 7000km (swopping chains at 0.75% of wear), that gave me a years riding. Chains, well, as soon as you are at 0.75% Chains, get the X0 equivalent. Chainrings gave me 2years, but they still have GOOD life in them. The rest of the components, still going strong after (close to) 4years of abuse.
  15. My latest edition, and LOVING it!!!
  16. Hey there SS -Hubbers Anyone tackling the marathon on Sat or the 1/2 on Sunday on your SS? Will look out for you there
  17. Here my NICE pic from Winterton!!!
  18. Hey guys Recently got a set of the Vredenstein Black Panther and the extreme option (for F tyre). REALLY good rolling, gripping and strong sidewalls. More than worth a look at. Happy Hooping
  19. Link to other thread https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/119259-3-x10-to-2-x-10/
  20. Keeping spare parts... What I have in my spares box: 2x worn XX cassettes and a matching chain. Now, when I see it is going to be havoc, those are the parts I will fit and ride them to death!!! Happy Hoopin
  21. Back to the cost and affordability issue... Yes, I can definitely afford my 2x bikes, one Niner Air carbon SS other Niner RIP9, full XX. BUT, what I cannot afford is the following: A nice summer ride (or two) in the rain, and then: R2400 XX cassette R420 SRAM 10 spd chain Than after another summer rain ride (or two): R2000 for the XX chainrings. That will bring the cost to R4820 on drivetrain maintenance in a couple of months... Well, maybe Bill Gates won't feel that, but I am DAMN SURE that 99.9999% of the Hubbers here in SA will. Nuff Said!!!
  22. Here my DREAM bike. Finally built last week...
  23. Hi guys I had a Momsen TWEN9AL, and recently built my dRRRReam bike... Really LEKKER
  24. Your'e gonna laugh now... Oxy-10, yes the pimple stuff, helps for saddle sores... Just be warned, the peroxide might stain your bib chamois or your jocks
  25. Flymango Pump the tyres to your preferred riding pressure Make a mark on the ground Start on this mark with the valve GET ON THE BIKE Ride / roll one (or more) revolutions with your weight on the bike Stop with the vavle at the bottom again Measure the distance (and divide by the nr of revolutions) Whoilla My measurement came out to be 2240mm, and very accurate when riding with other people with bike computers / Garmin etc. Happy Hoopin
