  1. Posted twice and the remove button seems to have got removed.....
  2. I dont think the Hub has had a prouder moment - just brilliant in making a real difference BM and GJ. Hope you and yours have a fantastic time from here to Xmas and beyond, Wolfie.
  3. You cant have any complaints, & would be unwise to throw accusations; but you could ask your neighbour why they were concerned about your kitten as it's disappeared. Best to get your kids to understand that there's a lot of death out there, pets and otherwise; you could throw in the "santa's not real either" thing and get that out the way at the same time. My 9yr old went nuts last year when he found out we'd been lying to him - he was really upset. I had a large dead rat outside the bedroom door at 6am this morning. Either the cat is trying to impress me or the neighbours have turned psycho.
  4. Saw that, and thought he came across really oily / Oprah / Holier-than-thou. Possibly sticking the boot in whilst appearing to be concerned for LA.
  5. But you still hit him and say its your fault, so a bell doesnt seem too much to ask. And its also the law, if you're into that kind of thing.

Nice post Tombeej. I've seen Burry ride against SA-pro roadies and he fits in fine against the best. You're right people riding drop-handlebar bikes in the 94.7, from the later letters of the alphabet groups onwards, are not "roadies". They're people on bikes. I've been a roadie for 8yrs but this year did mostly mtb as i was entering Transbaviaans. I was shocked at how much strength and endurance i didnt have when riding what i called "my clunky piece of ****". It took months to feel anyway confident to sit on that thing and work for 4hrs or more. So, having done that in August I did a 550km/ 4-day road tour in September & was shocked at how much slower up hills i was than before & how the top-end HR had gone. The easier gearing and the long endurance work killed these other aspects of my riding. There's no winning; but its still fun. & mtbers are in no way any more or less friendly than roadies.
  7. Mine too. I dont think the prog got across just how tough some of those hills are; but it was good to see. I spotted shots of the start from a hover camera we'd seen on the day which was pretty cool. Fortunately we missed being on camera and they found later daylight finishers. Oh, and they kept on about all the food at the checkpoints - apart from CP3 where its rationed DO NOT RELY ON IT BEIN THERE. If you're slowish make sure you've got your own. i still dont know what a ******* jaffle looks like, mythical creatures if you ask me.
  8. Sure, I'm just saying its on the same continuum & shows how far things have changed for different reasons.
  9. Its a good comment. I can remember it was the done thing in the '70s if you had the same make of car to acknowledge the other guy. Or if you both had AA badges or RAC badges (not stickers, they werent invented). One AA plus one RAC didnt equal a nod, though.
  10. I like your location Karma - v funny. (Maybe I'm slow onto it, but anyway)

Sticky no.s didnt stick, except when one got stuck between my wheel and brakes/frame on the M1 - then they are really sticky. Started BB & suffered for 4hrs. Was really great to see so many spectators and it seems to have grown since I was last in a late group. 2 lots of dancing girls on trucks was pretty good. A media photographer picked me out at an N14 stop & I thought that finally my innate sporting persona had been recognized & Sports Illustrated would be calling soon. She then said could I put my head back under the fan blowing water mist as it looked so amusing the first time.
  12. Pretty silly letter, as most people are saying. Its not just about the bike(shop), it applies to e-commerce in general & thats not going away any time soon, if ever.
  13. Bullocks & if Andrew has been so involved, shouldnt he be renamed DairyBell?
  14. Sure Bobs, we can do that - unless you want to write some more? You could have said: "vote for my kid, she's great & so am I" & we'd all vote for Lauren, cuz its true.
  15. Didnt do Dwayne Chambers any good, once he got to compete. & the reputational damage in the process is huge.
  16. It's only the small, fake sport of pro-cycling. I dont see why anybody official would be the slightest bit interested.
  17. The busts in cricket are pretty frequent - just in the last couple of months we've had England county players banned / jailed and a no. of umpires rounded up and booted out on the sub-continent. Its in the same boat as cycling.
  18. I got bar-ends on my risers - is that still upsetting to people?
  19. Look - the rant is a bit tongue-in-cheek, the guy is fine and obviously likes his bike this way. I put it up because it looks so incongruous & thought it would get a reaction. Bit of fun. Laugh at me or laugh at the bike - makes the world go round.
  20. Yeah, you're probably right - am gonna chill out and draw a moustache on the Mona Lisa.
  21. But functional, I guess.
  22. Hi - I'm not a big one for everything being a certain way, I've got Shimano on my Da Rosa, I dont have a peak on my mtb helmet - I'm not too fussy. But is this in or out?
  23. Did they interview the guy that lost out to LA in pursuing Sheryl Crowe? Apparently he now wants to be credited as her boyfriend from 2003-2006.
  24. Thing is, I picked up a lady's hr when I didnt have my chest-strap on. The no. was registering on hers and my unit.
  25. Just to add, despite what they say, if you've got a Polar and are riding in a group, you can often pick up someone else's reading.
