  1. did my return on the 1st and the refund was in my account today
  2. way too much
  3. have only once done 10km in the pool and it was broken up into 500m sets. Took me 3h40 to complete. 2h29 is impressive
  4. I'm sure Theo doesn't pay what the average person pays. But if I wanted to do 104 crossings with Derrick at big bay events it would cost over R230k
  5. This is a photo taken of my daughter on Monday. Thought it was really good. Can check out the photographers facebook page (Jomandie Dempers)
  6. did my return on Saturday and should get almost R3k back. Hasn't come in yet but we'll see later in the week.
  7. managed to meet up with two guys in langebaan for a swim around the island. The tide was low and I swam the more direct route so ended up about 2.8km (was hoping at least 3km) The water was great. Started out a bit cold in the channel but warmed up, at least it felt warmer. The other guy swimming recons it varied between 12 and 14 degrees for the swim. A huge thank you to David for offering to paddle for me and Anton for joining the swim. If you're ever in the langebaan area I'd suggest you make contact with the swimmers there and go around the island. Very friendly and helpful
  8. well done, you'll definitely be able to hit 2m/100 by the end of the year
  9. I could do the gym but need to get cold ocean water time and distance in. I've done 2km at 14 degrees and it was fine so we'll see
  10. Have had a good month swimming. So far I've done 48km this month. Longest straight pool swim has been 4km and longest total pool session has been 5km (4x1250m) Unfortunately only 1 open water swim but going to langebaan this week end and joining 2 locals there for a swim around the island. Will be 3-3.2km and water temperature hopefully 13 degree. My only worry is that the water level in the gym pool is dropping significantly and soon we won't be able to swim there. On one extended under water pull this morning I clipped the bottom of the pool. I completely agree with them not filling the pool up but soon I won't be training as much, oh well
  11. that smoke formation looks rather interesting
  12. now those look quality
  13. I'm looking for wood to possibly make the sleeper couch I posted. My estimate is I'll need 12m of wood roughly 10cmx10cm to make the side frames. I'm thinking Meranti as it'll look nicer once sanded and varnished. Is there anyone in the CT area that could give me an idea of where to get this and what cost I'm looking at
  14. my suggestion would be spend the money for one hour with a coach and get them to analyse your stroke, go away for a few weeks and practice then go back for another session to see if it's still improved. I did one short session with a triathlete years ago and it made a huge difference
  15. I'm wanting to make a fold out sleeper couch that is big enough for two people. Has anyone made something like this and have ideas to share. I saw this picture which looks really cool. Would need to sources some decent wood for the frame. The top half folds over to form a nice big bed
  16. very very nice
  17. also try https://www.brucoffeeroasters.co.za/
  18. always good motivation,
  19. very nice. now for a nice set of wheels to go with it
  20. do a search on http://marathonswimmers.org/ there was a thread somewhere there about mp3 players for swimming and i'm sure they were cheaper. I got given a pair for my birthday a few years ago, never used it much but definitely wasn't that expensive
  21. second 4km session of the week done 2000m easy 500m (50m hard/50easy) 500m (25m hard/25m easy) 1000m easy feeling great
  22. hi there EMJAYZA. My goal is Robben island early next year. I have started bring in some interval sprints into the sessions so it's not just straight swimming. This mornings swim was 2000m easy 1000m easy 500 easy 500 interval sprints Other sessions have been 2000m easy 500m (50m sprints) 500m (25m sprints The plan is to start bringing in more interval sprints but at the moment I'm just getting a base to work from. I've never been great on doing other types of drills. Am meeting with a trainer this week though who has done Robben island and will get some training advice from him
  23. this morning I did my first 4km pool swim session in many years, tired but felt great. going to now aim to do 2 pool sessions during the week of 3.5-4km and then a 2.6km open water swim over the week end. The aim is to build the weekly sessions up to 4.5-5km twice a week with a week end open water swim
  24. i want the clock ring, where do I get it?
