Just like Hansie Cronje - would he have cried his heart out if never caught? No chance of that happening. You nailed this one!

    Cricket......

    Definitely ours!
  3. Grebs, further to what is mentioned above; brads and nails are good for a temporary hold on construction, but a screw is unbeaten in the long run. As you know, we often do temporary jobs that end up having to function for years. rather use screws with a glue drop on the contact surfaces for a longer lasting sturdier construction.
  4. It's probably a sore hip/glute muscle from holding the little one in the sitting position and not necessarily the lower back, in my humble opinion. I'm no doctor but have kids too and suffered that a few times.

I need clarity here; was it a porta-loo or a bricks and mortar type? No self respecting lady allows coitus to take place in a porta-loo
  6. We all have a good memory of Barry. For me it was the LEGO and then his ridiculous sweet tooth. I don't have sweet tooth but Barry's postings made me crave baklava and all kinds of weird stuff I would never eat. So every time I spot strange sweet things i think of Barry!
  7. Maybe I'm not the right guy to answer you, but a 22km week of a zero base will make you hurt in places. Maybe cut back on the starting distances to prevent injury. I started off a zero base in 2014 with a 25km week, by week 5 I was clocking mid 30's and ended up with a calf niggle that took a few weeks to clear up. All due to too much distance of a zero base. Cycling just doesn't count as running.

  9. You identified the problem. The thicker the wood you cut, the slower the cutting speed. Buy a decent jigsaw or go rent a Skilsaw
  10. I had the same issue with a Ryobi bench top drill press, they aren't very powerful at .25hp, but after tightening the belt etc I found the pulleys were not properly tightened onto the shafts. It solved the problem, but again, under pressure the bits do wander. Hope this helps

  12. I too prefer the bulk of my running or riding on my own. I love the occasional club run with a group of nutters chatting the miles away, but its definitely not what defines me as a runner.

Claire Dodd, american actress from 30's
  14. If you search Birmingham Young Volunteers you might start making progress. I love the picture, Raleighs in front and John Lennons bike has a speedo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I met an East German wall jumper whilst still at school. Was fascinating talking to the old chap about life under the Stasi and how they planned their escape. I went away to places and we lost contact. Then in early 2000 I bumped into him again, retired and living a Bohemian life style for such an old chap.

  17. I concluded a good week training with smashing a previous segment by 1:30sec. (A piece of lung was sacrificed in the attempt) The piriformus muscle is clearing slowly though I continue with recovery exercises. It is truly so nice to go for a run of any distance and not spend the next 2 hours icing and stretching the pain out of a sore muscle.
  18. ...the only thing ever to get me depressed! And on top of it nothing works at stopping it...now that the kids are a bit older it seems the violence of the bugs have reduced a bit.

    Cricket......

That super slow-mo of him hitting the six towards the end of his innings, went and got the laaitie out of bed and showed him. His head is dead still, eye's watching the ball and then everything else just fires at the right moment, Masterful!
  20. Yip, them, Nova Board etc. Though the shutter ply is too expensive to make locally and lots of importers bringing the CC board in, hence the trade price of R384/18mm sheet.
  21. The shutterply is virtually exclusively imported from China and for construction purposes as we all know, so QC on them is questionable. I like your link, but hell man, why not Durbs, that's at least closer to us.

  24. I've been busy treading water, so a bit late to the discussion. I work plenty in plywood, built a boat, cabinets etc. Good old exterior ply (not shuttershite) is pretty OK for most garage type jobs or the odd cabinet in Pete's room etc. Birch ply in DBN retails about R200-00 per sheet more expensive in thickness than the local pine ply's. In my book that's worth the money, but, is it worth the application? Marine ply for anything other than a marine application is bonkers. The stuff is heavy being mostly tropical hardwoods and the glue spec is also a weight additive. yes, you have a nice idea use it, otherwise, maak 'n plan. However, if Lumber City offers you a marine ply without the BS1088 stamp, decline the offer, its k@k and just heavy, makes splinters galore en just generally screws up your Saturday.

    Agreed, flipping ridiculous and embarrassing.
