  1. I met an East German wall jumper whilst still at school. Was fascinating talking to the old chap about life under the Stasi and how they planned their escape. I went away to places and we lost contact. Then in early 2000 I bumped into him again, retired and living a Bohemian life style for such an old chap.
  2. Lighty
  3. I concluded a good week training with smashing a previous segment by 1:30sec. (A piece of lung was sacrificed in the attempt) The piriformus muscle is clearing slowly though I continue with recovery exercises. It is truly so nice to go for a run of any distance and not spend the next 2 hours icing and stretching the pain out of a sore muscle.
  4. ...the only thing ever to get me depressed! And on top of it nothing works at stopping it...now that the kids are a bit older it seems the violence of the bugs have reduced a bit.

    Cricket......

That super slow-mo of him hitting the six towards the end of his innings, went and got the laaitie out of bed and showed him. His head is dead still, eye's watching the ball and then everything else just fires at the right moment, Masterful!
  6. Yip, them, Nova Board etc. Though the shutter ply is too expensive to make locally and lots of importers bringing the CC board in, hence the trade price of R384/18mm sheet.
  7. The shutterply is virtually exclusively imported from China and for construction purposes as we all know, so QC on them is questionable. I like your link, but hell man, why not Durbs, that's at least closer to us.

  10. I've been busy treading water, so a bit late to the discussion. I work plenty in plywood, built a boat, cabinets etc. Good old exterior ply (not shuttershite) is pretty OK for most garage type jobs or the odd cabinet in Pete's room etc. Birch ply in DBN retails about R200-00 per sheet more expensive in thickness than the local pine ply's. In my book that's worth the money, but, is it worth the application? Marine ply for anything other than a marine application is bonkers. The stuff is heavy being mostly tropical hardwoods and the glue spec is also a weight additive. yes, you have a nice idea use it, otherwise, maak 'n plan. However, if Lumber City offers you a marine ply without the BS1088 stamp, decline the offer, its k@k and just heavy, makes splinters galore en just generally screws up your Saturday.

    Cricket......

    Agreed, flipping ridiculous and embarrassing.
  12. I picked up a piriformus muscle strain through running last year. After giving the muscle time to heal over two months it is now under under strength training 3x week - squats, lunges, kettle bell stuff etc. Having core strength which extends to your hips and up your back and abs muscles is only good for you. There is no need to be lifting heavy, light to moderate weight for your liking should do and single leg work like lunges are really good for running.

  17. Jip, DaschundMagic is epic. We have a brown specimen who at 8 months old successfully scaled a height of 750mm to get to 500g's of prime chicken breast busy defrosting. Chowed the lot and then proceeded to sleep for about 9 hours. Amazing to think as their dietary requirement at the time were 30g's of quality puppy food 3 times a day!

  21. As long as said spice does not contain salt, spice away whenever just not after cooking.
  22. https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/chimichurri-sauce-2 In our case we like the chimichurri on the stake after cooking...but I suppose you can marinade the steak in it and then add to the cooked sides as you go with a brush or spooning it on
  23. So what you up to? I'm busy with a resto on an abused Stanley Bailey #4 and Swedish Anchor Block plane. They both suffered a hard life of neglect and thus given me a whole lot more to do than anticipated. Should have them done by early next year. Will post pictures Anyhow, Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year to you all!
  24. It is, stick with it!
